Unfortunately I see only 2 possibilities. The most likely is that he was robbed and murdered, the second possibility is he decided to end his life and gave his money and belongings (tv) to someone who helped him.

My question is how strongly were his roommates and acquaintances interrogated by police? Did they go through multiple interviews? Lie detector tests? Anybody who lived or "flopped" there needs to be strongly and thoroughly investigated. Those are the people from whom the answer lies. Also, did the police check for fingerprints solely in the bedroom or on the bedroom door? Although it would normal to have multiple fingerprints in the living area of the house, it would be less likely to have his "friends" fingerprints inside his bedroom.

tinkerbella our police department did check our pawn shops and came up with nothing. They also told us that all pawn shops are not honest in their bookkeeping. So stolen property that is recovered is usually still in the thief's possession when he/she is arrested. Of course now it has been 1 year and 8 months since Bear went missing.

mstrbill I have to agree with you. I believe that the room mates were involved. Not really sure if they intended from the beginning to kill Bear tho. It could have been accidental. Pushing Bear around and him not being able to defend himself himself it wouldn't have taken to much to knock him out.
As far as how the police interrogated anyone we don't know. They told us they are doing their job. We need hard evidence. So
are just playing the waiting game.

psych-nurse I believe he was confronted by these guys. Probably knocked around a bit. Forced to open his safe. Then maybe someone realized Bear had passed out or maybe died. The guys grabbed his bedding and wrapped him up in it. I think maybe the crutches could have been taken just to make it look like he was going off by himself. That's the same reason they took his bag that he had his insulin supply in. Bear always had his insulin supplies with him. My opinion. I wonder why they just didn't leave Bear there at his home.They got what they wanted I assume.
It just doesn't make sense.

Dixie811 There was a few of us that looked for ads on craigslist trying to sell the model tv like Bear had. We checked our local swapmeets, garage sales and any where we thought someone might sell things. We came up with nothing.

Hi poems, without hard evidence, the police need to interrogate all the roommates, and acquaintances multiple times if necessary, check alibis thoroughly to see if they pan out or not and re-interview to see if stories change or not. For example, the roommate mentioned in the Disappeared show stated he came home at 2 and noticed Bear's door was shut. Can his whereabouts be accounted for from 10:30 to 2? I know the police say they are doing their job, but how hard are they?

shandram19, I am not totally positive on whether Bear was on any pain meds at the time he went missing. Before I miss speak to that I will ask his mother and let you know what I found out.

mstrbill, as far as the room mate that they show in the episode about Bear, in the scene where room mate is standing in kitchen and Bear's mother LeLanie is standing at the counter. That room mate worked at the hookah lounge and as the show said there were a few people who would come over to Bears after the hookah lounged closed.
I agree about the police should question them again and again. But how do you really know that the police are pushing hard on these guys? The police say they need hard evidence something tangible that they can hold in their hand. We have don't have Bear's body. Nor do we have anyone saying they saw or know what happened to Bear. It is such a catch-22.
We need an old gumshoe type of detective. The kind that just can get a feeling, sniffs out the bad guys then gets them to tell him exactly how it all went down. Not to mention gives up the names of the bad guys and to tell him where Bears body is. Unfortunately we have none of that as of right now.

Is the only reason authorities don't think Bear's case is related to Skylar's based on the manner in which they left? That seems like an odd reason to dismiss any possible link, especially considering all of the similarities. Is it true that Bear's phone pinged near where Skylar was dropped off? How often did he have to take insulin shots, and how long could he last without them? I wonder if someone just took his insulin and waited for him to die after obtaining the combination to his safe. Was his mother able to confirm that the money and tv were in his room the night before? Were his neighbors interviewed? Sorry for all of the questions, but my mind is in overdrive on this one.

CDEsq The manner in which they left is probably one of the biggest reasons why Bear and Skylar's case are not related. Skylar took an UBER from his house and was dropped off in the middle of a county road no where near anything. He asked the UBER driver to pull over which he did and Skylar got out. Where Bear was at his own home when he went missing. Skylar is from North County ins San Diego County and Bear is from East County of San Diego County.

As far as the pinging of cell towers that is true. We believe Bear was taken from his home and probably deceased at this time. His cell phone pinged about 45 minutes earlier at a different cell tower but along the way to where it last pinged (which was same cell tower that Skylar pinged at). After that last ping Bear's cell phone went totally dead. Like someone took battery out. It has not been found. Mother still paying the bill every month just in case someone happens upon it and puts a battery in it and calls people who are in Bear's contact list.
Bear had issues with his diabetes on and off. Meaning he would be really good at testing himself and taking his insulin as needed then he would go thru times when he would be mad cause he had the diabetes. Typical teenager. But Bear had been realizing that it his reality would have to check it several times a day. And give himself shots as needed. Right now I am not sure as to what his dosage was but I do know he always had is bag with insulin supplies in it where ever he went.
Mother knows tv was in the room that night she dropped him off at his house. Bear kept money in his safe. Neighbors were interviewed and of course no one saw anything. We have gone house to house and talked to neighbors on our own. Many stop by and ask if anything has been found out about Bear's disappearance. We have banners and we use Bear's house as our command post. We just need that one person to come forward with some thing they heard or saw that night.
Don't be sorry for all the questions. I am willing to answer any questions anyone has.
I know Bear's mother, family and friends are thankful that there are people out there concerned about Bear's disappearance. Any thoughts or prayers are greatly appreciated. We just are trying to keep his name out there.

In the episode of disappeared Bears mother stated that she had turned his home into a type of command post, so I get the impression that there is definitely still access to bears home.

Poems4u4me answered that directly above this response towards the end. His home is still used as the command center. Sorry I missed it and double stated.

I watched the Disappeared episode last night about Bear. That was the first time I had heard about his disappearance. It just pisses me off. It is obvious that people (so called friends) in Bear's life totally took advantage of him and his generosity. A lot of people came and went in the house. If it wasn't someone close up Bear then I suspect it was someone who came over during a party, saw that Bear had money, saw how frail Bear was and decided to come back and target him. It makes me sick when people are killed over money. To take someone's life, to cause so much pain just for a few thousand dollars....ugh. It is so pointless and sad. Bear's mom seems like a really interesting, caring woman. Bear was lucky to have such a good mom.

This is a little unrelated but I'm curious- is it normal for members of Native American reservations to receive that much money a month? $7,000 is a lot of money to get on a monthly basis. I was surprised by that. I know they had a casino on the reservation but still....

I think it depends based on which reservation it is. I was on another forum about this show and someone who is Native American said that their dividends are very small in comparison to Bear's. Not enough to live off. The poster also mentioned another reservation (I forgot the name) where the dividends are even much greater than Bear's. I'll admit I didn't even know these dividends existed until Bear's episode. Very interesting!

Thanks for the reply! I didn't know about the dividends either. I had to rewind the episode to make sure I had heard the monthly stipend correctly.

I would like to see police compare cell phone pings from Bear's phone with those of people known to frequent his house to see if any of them match Bear's for the day he disappeared. I think it might also be beneficial to analyze records from previous days, weeks, months to see if at any other time someone's phone pinged in that same pattern, possibly indicating familiarity with the area and potentially putting them near where Bear could be located.

I'll admit I didn't even know these dividends existed until Bear's episode. Very interesting!

The town I live in also has a Native American reservation. The amount each member receives monthly is based on what percentage of Native American they are. Some receive more for living on the reservation. This particular reservation requires a high school diploma or equivalent in order to receive the money. The reservation earns its money from a casino, but it is not as large as the one Bear is connected to. Payouts are roughly half (again, depending on the previously mentioned factors).
