By your and my standards, I agree. But people who grow up in squalor , who are raised by parents that grew up in squalor, have absolutely no idea what's it like to live in a home that meets our standards. I had to learn that the hard way in my nursing career. One time, a mother brought an infant car seat to discharge a newborn in our care, and when she sat it on the floor in our unit, roaches ran out of it everywhere. We kept new car seats on hand for those who couldn't purchase one, so we gave her one, along with some clothing, blankets, and supplies. I'd taken care of that baby and grown to love him, but I had to let him go and live the kind of life his mother was going to give him. We had babies leave to homes without electricity or running water. It's heartbreaking. I wish more than anything that every baby could come to a home like mine....with mopped floors, baby-proofed outlets, a supply of every baby gadget out there, and organic soap to wash their sweet head with, but that's not reality. It also doesn't mean that they aren't loved. Love is free. Some people just don't know any better.

However, most everyone knows better than to injure or cause death to their own child, and for that there is no excuse.

He didn't grow up that way it seems. His mother was a cop. The fact that he lived this way spoke volumes about the kind of person he was.

Just described a lengthy investigation that will be taking place. I am just still overwhelmed from the creek footage video.

Respectfully, I think the way he lived spoke volumes about how far his addiction had progressed.

I'm even going to go as far as speculating he was living there as an alternative to homelessness and that's why MG was with her parents. I've seen it first hand, people on the verge of homelessness due to addiction and MG's situation parallels those I've seen.

I agree that his living conditions are a result of an addiction, which is a disease. However, what was moms excuse? I don't believe for a second that she didn't know where her baby was staying, and in what conditions. I am not victim bashing, my heart breaks for her. I am however questioning her awful judgement. Her babies life depended on her. Jmo. So sad.

Ever watch the show "Hoarders?" Plenty of bright, educated, professional individuals who somehow or another end up living like this. Some I feel are due to pure laziness, and others seem to have mental illness. While it is possible (and probable) that he could have been enabled, it is not impossible that Ember's family was used to these conditions, regardless of their professions. Truly sad for sweet Ember, and thousands of other infants living in exactly the same environments across our "privileged" nation. It's just not possible to remove them from every home.

Thete is zero evidence that both families or either family were hoarders. There is a ton of evidence that MG was a druggie though. But ETA that we don't know what the extended family knew of the living conditions Ember was going into or how MG was doing. Lots of people just looking at his FB were incapable of feeling like he was the kind of person who could kill his kid. Imagine what his family felt.

This is a cautionary tale- young people need a lot of family support when they have babies at that age. Especially if they have issues in their lives.

Sorry, I felt it's important and no one was listening. The guy in the video asked for help combing the creek on the 10th. Apparently everyone discounted him, and he went alone. The video was posted the 12th, but the search he conducted could have happened the 10th, 11th, or 12th, right?

We should just ask him.

Thanks for sharing it and I'll listen when I have access to audio. Everything should be looked at and investigated and I hope LE does so. Did he say when the tip came in and is this man a reporter?

I feel dreadfully sorry for JG. However it is ridiculous to think that she didn't know what conditions her husband was living in, considering she was moving back in with him the next day. What was he going to do? Magic up a mansion? She knew how he lived. She was prepared to move in there with that child.

Do we know why they split up initially? Were they all living in that trailer before they split? I don't blame mom for dad's actions at all, but for people to consider that she didn't know what she was moving into is daft. She made a choice too. She could have left that baby with her mom if she wanted to live in a pigsty. MG has made some awful decisions and he is to blame for Ember being missing, however moms need to start putting their babies first.
