Jacqueline Lucille Cooper, 27yo, missing Modesto (about 2 hours from Emigrant Gap) Nov 1976, 5'6"-5"7" 120/125lbs
She left with coworker
James Carlin Toliver shortly after she had withdrawn $4,000 cash from her bank account. Cooper's relatives stated James basically forced her to come with him with threats, and she vanished. Some sources listing she had children. Brown hair/eyes (at least one source listing gray eyes; Doe's eyes are brown). Toliver is possible SK & suspect in the disappearances of several women in Modesto area:
Mary Watkins, who disappeared in 1979.
Hester Lee Chandler 1974; and his wife,
Patricia Toliver, who disappeared in 1978.
Toliver, a forklift operator and cannery worker from Ceres, CA, joined singles group for parents, dated women following Patty's disappearance, using an alias. A very big gambler. On October 8, 1980, found dead in
Hope Valley, near Lake Tahoe in California/heart attack while fleeing murder scene of Florence Evelyn Richina, he was carrying a .38 caliber pistol and $98,000, all of it in hundred-dollar bills. (Hope Valley less than 2 hours from Emigrant Gap.)
Richina, a 49-year-old former teacher, shot with .38 caliber pistol, & his footprints led from the crime scene to his truck. Richina had sold land and withdrawn $98,000 from account, Some of her belongings and jewelry were found hidden in his home. Unconfirmed reports that they were going to get married.
Jacqueline (first two images) compared to Doe:
Think the chin looks quite similar for both, it's shorter in terms of the total composition of her face but very pronounced. Same high forehead framed with dark hair. However, I see nothing about a denture plate with Jacqueline. Also, the space between tip of nose and upper lip looks too long in one Doe sketch, but not the other. Cannot locate hair length at time of disappearance for Jacqueline Cooper, but length doesn't look all that far off from one sketch. Weight, though, an issue with Doe at 145 and Jacqueline at 120/125.
Looking, evidently dentals for Jacqueline are not available.
No Toyota Celica, either, for Toliver, they mention only a pickup truck (1980) But if he had involvement in this Doe's disappearance, he had a friend helping him out, evidently, and Toliver clearly had some cash coming in from multiple sources, no way to know vehicle history. $82,000 in his bank account when he died. The biggest issue here is length of time since disappearance of Jacqueline to discovery of the Doe, just about a year. He killed Richina shortly after he took her money. But there is a second man in this scenario with the Doe, that makes things a bit more complicated, perhaps. Plus, Jacqueline is considerably younger (and with less money) than Richina. All things considered, wouldn't completely rule this out, there is a resemblance, jmo. And Emigrant Gap is 46 minutes from Tahoe City, CA.
