I dunno what to think. Since a miscarriage was just experienced and another pregnancy followed soon after I just cant see a young Mom wanting to expose her self to such extreme heat. Something has happened to her and I don't think it's good. Sadly. IMO.

Years ago my best friend was beaten by her then Marine husband at 29 Palms. He threw furniture off the balcony and sent her home with a broken collarbone as the Base turned a blind eye. I hope things have changed there since then.

So very sorry. Thankfully she survived.

To me it appears it has changed greatly. The Corps really empathizes character building, being a good person, giving back to the community, and teaching the importance of family. My son shows me more love and respect now that he is a Marine.

From the tone of her missing Facebook page, i strongly sense that they have some clues. I don't sense that the investigators are just flummoxed and have nothing to go on.

There has been no mention of whether her purse was left in the car, any cell phone information, any credit card info, was her car parked in a way that appeared someone was hiding it or as if she might have parked to get out and shake off sleepiness, was the car in working condition, was it locked, etc. There is virtually nothing at all that's been told to the public to help understand what might have happened to her.

Back in 1984 Laura Ann Bradbury 3 years old went missing from Joshua Tree Monument this was one weird case. http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/293785

Wow. Not to derail this thread, but it seems almost certain that this little girl walked away from the campsite, got lost, walked well beyond the search area and died from exposure. The entire wild goose chase of finding a kidnapper(s) seems to be based solely on the search dogs losing her scent. Very sad.

Unless he is named as a suspect or POI by LE, he is a victim and we are a victim friendly forum.

Just sayin'

 Thank you! I can't believe some people are already convicting the husband of a crime. I choose to give him the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise, therefore he has my complete support.

My DD is a Marine. She's not at 29 Stumps, but I have not heard good things about that base from other male Marines, sadly. I am totally giving her husband the benefit of the doubt, but it is possible that there is an affair "in the air," especially the conflicting pregnancy information. :(

What conflicting pregnancy information?

The pregnancy information isn't conflicting - she had a miscarriage and is pregnant again. Apparently she hadn't announced it to anyone yet (except her husband knew) because it's thought she wanted to tell her mother in person at her upcoming visit.

I'm a little confused as to why the search is being conducted in Joshua Tree park and not the area where her car was found. Am I missing something?

All I can think of is cell phone ping information. Otherwise it seems odd to concentrate the search there, IMHO. I haven't seen anything released as to why they are searching there.

Perhaps LE is searching at Joshua Tree National Park because they were told Erin was intending to look for hiking spots for she and her mom the day she went missing?

In the Digital Journal it said three people came forward with information about her disappearance and they were all murdered. http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/293785

Oak Ridge, TN where mom and Erin are from, has an average high temperature in July of 88 degrees. July is also the wettest month of the year. So, toss in the humidity/heat index, and it might not be much different than Oak Ridge. It is, as they say, a dry heat in 29 Palms. http://www.weather.com/weather/wxclimatology/monthly/graph/USTN0370

Also, lunch and a spa day is my idea of torture, so women are different.

Am I the only one who thinks that the authorities think they know exactly what happened to Ms. Corwin and are trying to get inside a suspect's head? The undisclosed location comments to the press about her personal items (first the car, now the cell) make me think they have a pretty good idea what's going on. If this is just military red tape on the other hand, I, for one, am going to be really peeved. This young woman likely comes from a family with a history of serving this country (based on the fact that she's from Oak Ridge, which even today is largely a US government employee town) and has married a Marine.

Hmmmm. Who are these murdered witnesses in this case, I wonder? That sounds a little vague to me. Also, if it turns out the partial skull was the little girl's, that does not mean someone put it there. It could mean she was not found initially, like so many others. Jmo
