Music Arts presents Piano Recital
Music Arts students of Rudolph Nemeth and Francine Britto gathered for a special piano recital on Nov. 2 at the West Village Christian Church. The sixteen students involved presented a program which included a variety of composers.

Erin Heavilin is listed as one of the students in the picture.

Sit on hands 'cause that's a new one on me.

ADDING: About the picture, I thought I linked it, I unchecked that box that asks if you want to host the image on this forum. I guess there's another step I missed??

I wonder about this, too. Perhaps it was under the guise of just chatting. I mean, maybe CL didn't just come out and say it. Maybe there was more to it. It would still freak *me* out. But what if CL was pretending to talk about military stuff? I don't know. Just saying, it might not have been so apparent he was being serious. However, it was obvious enough (I suppose) that the witness came forward. JMOO

CL could have been pretending to talk about the Scott Peterson case since tying his wife to concrete blocks and dumping her in San Francisco Bay didn't work. :jail: He also could have said what I say sometimes, "This poster on Websleuths says you can dispose of a human body by sealing it in a 50 gallon steel drum filled with lye, what would you think would be the best way to dispose of a human body?"

I guess the same way they disposed of Jimmy Hoffa's body.

I'm having a difficult time understanding what her familial background has to do with her being dead. I understand she was home-schooled and may have been somewhat sheltered and possibly naive but beyond that I don't really understand the relevance of who her bio parents/siblings may or may not have been.

I know this isn't the case with all homeschooled kiddos but I have several friends who homeschool their kids and they are some of the most outgoing, well travelled and social kids I have ever met. They have an entire homeschooling network of kids that go on field trips together, trips together, hold formal dances, regular social events, etc. I know the norm is to assume that a homeschooled child might be more sheltered and possibly more naive than non but I have found that not to be the case with all homeschooled children. Erin may have been more sheltered/naive because of her homeschooling, I just don't feel comfortable making that assumption based solely on the fact that she was. Just MOO.

I also wonder about the witness who got asked about the best way to get rid of a body. Did he just say "oh shucks, no clue" and go on about his day? Or did he offer some suggestions? Or did he call the cops? It would be interesting to know if he did and what they did about it. I mean, what kind of person would NOT be a little freaked by someone asking you that question? Unless you know they were a writer or Websleuth, that is.

Or did he tell CL that he would dispose of a body in a vertical mine shaft adjacent to JTNP? IMO, this individual is going to be a pivotal player in CL's trial.

Hi Seajay
The only information that has been released so far about the mine shaft ~

"The former Marine accused of killing Erin Corwin admitted searching the Internet for advice on how to dispose of a body, and .22-caliber cartridge casings and pieces of rebar at the mine shaft where she was found matched those found in his Jeep, according to an arrest warrant filed in California Superior Court.

Christopher Brandon Lee also asked a witness about the best way to dispose of a body and told investigators he was collecting tires the morning Corwin disappeared. A tire also was found at the mine shaft."

Thanks Dmacky for reposting the info! Hm.. maybe it's just a wording thing but I hadn't caught the "found at the mine shaft" before (emphasis mine). Was it AT the mine shaft, or IN the mine shaft? Did CL leave a tire outside of the mine that might have helped LE to focus on that mine specifically? May or may not even matter or again just a wording thing, but it jumped out at me on re-reading the article.

I completely see what you're saying but this also leads me to wonder, do these people have the weirdest "chit chat" conversations ever? NL to IM supposedly was along the lines of "they'll never find her, no body no case" and then CL was casually/randomly talking to someone about disposing of bodies? I think I'd be pretty terrified of any couple in my circle of friends, or friends' friends, etc. if those were normal topics. What happened to the weather, or if you want to go really nuts, politics?

Stop with the flag and church discussion. It is off topic, stems from a picture that is not sourced and is against TOS.

Let it go.

Salem

Thanks Salem. I was totally lost on the last few replies, but I appreciate your post so I understand what people were talking about. (don't worry, no comment from me on the whole thing, just wanted to thank you)

I agree which is why I said "may have been somewhat sheltered". Home schooled doesn't necessarily equate to being sheltered. I also think her being extremely shy played a part in her being somewhat naive. Some people have no problem with walking in to a room and saying "hey look, here I am" while others would rather blend in to the crowd and not draw attention to themselves.

Sorry. Should have been more clear. I was jumping off of your post to add my thoughts, not posting as though I thought they were in opposition to yours. ITA with everything you posted!

She couldn't have been homeschooled her whole life:

It's all good Voice. I had some other stuff going on in my head when I replied to your post. I should've taken a few deep breath's before replying. :sorry:

You've made a few comments that lead me to think you might be a person close to this case. Can you become a "verified insider"?

If this witness did tell him that, then yep, he could be the smoking gun in this case.

What is involved to do that?

As a lot of you seem to have figured out, I'm a big doubter. Sorry. I just can't seem to get my mind around this affair. I don't know, something about a torrid affair that lasted for months doesn't quite fit. She lost a baby, and it sent her into a pit of depression, and then somehow a week later she's brimming with so much confidence that she's ready to start a sexual relationship with a married man. I might buy a slip up when she's really down in the dumps and he takes advantage, but her continuing it on and on for months in that mental state just doesn't jive.

:sorry:
