Yes I did read that. But even if she could not prove paternity later to any effect, CL did not know this (Imo) and she could still make trouble in his marriage.

Totally agreed there - the law vs. what could have happened in his personal life are pretty different, and I doubt he ever looked at the law part anyway.

This crime seems pretty vicious for just a utilitarian killing. Trying to get the other woman off of your wife's mind.

What I also can't figure out is, where are the bullets? There's multiple casings, in the mine and in the car, casings that were fired from a .22 rifle right. I don't mean the ten .40s, because the report also said they matched the head stamp on casings in the mine to casings from the car that were fired from the same weapon. Where are all of the bullets that came out of those casings? They match the rebar, the tire tread, the casings, but no match on the bullets, not even on the metal composition. So they don't have 'em.

Could he have removed them from her body? Why even do that, if he's confident enough that she'll never be found. Confident enough to drop the casings, the rebar, the tires, but he takes all the bullets with him? Why also, did he only drop half the casings. Why did he leave some in the car for them to match.......

The thought process here is SO out of whack.

Could be. I also wonder if EC told CL she could not lie to her husband and would have to come clean to him. Raising what could be another man's child and just allowing your husband to believe the child is his would be a tough thing to live with. I do not know Erin, however she does not strike me as being able to carry that on her shoulders.

Also, she may have worried that the baby would look like CL, and NOT her husband. The 2 men look very different from each other, and I think even a newborn might have looked obviously more like CL than JC. imo :cow:

I had the identical thought. No way could she have passed that kid off as JC's. Not with the looks that CL had. NO way. What a mess. This is why I say "you play you pay" and unfortunately for young EC she lost her life in this ridiculous game of cheating and lies. No one EVER wins in these situations and yet people continue this behavior day in and day out. It's sickening.

I just considered the irony (if true) that Erin began an affair because a guy was so understanding and sympathetic of her losing a baby, only to have him murder the next baby -- and her. I like Dark Horse's thinking -- it is time to think out of the box when so many pieces don't fit. We are still clueless on the red car and the sequence of events. And though I get argued with each time, I'm still not completely convinced Erin sent the final text message to her friend.

I have been haunted by this article :frown:

Although court documents have described Lee as Corwin's lover, Ramos says his actual plans involved Corwin's death.

"The day she disappeared, he was collecting tires," Ramos said. "And that ties to his research of how to dispose of a human being, because with tires they can burn for hours and hours."

Ramos would not say if Corwin's body was burned.

I don't like this motive thing. It seems to me there's only two people who could have hated Erin enough to commit such a heinous crime, and only one who did. One of those people was fairly quick to forgive, and seems to have an alibi for that day, so the other one deserves a closer look. This person hated their spouse and the cheatee, couldn't stand to look at them anymore, and wanted to see someone suffer for these misdeeds. Maybe they even found out long before their spouse even knew they did...

It would have been pretty simple, I mean, after a hard days work of offroading and target shooting, "here, let me clean out your car for you"(pocket some casings), a few days later "hey, before we go out I just wanna check my email real quick"('How to dispose a body' click-Search), Maybe a week later, "How 'bout you go ask John 'how to get rid of the body'; it'll really freak him out, ha ha". Smooth things over with Erin, get her cell phone when she's not looking, and send a few texts to an old friend, then delete them. Rent a car for a week or so, making sure it's one that has a 106" wheelbase and close to 60" track, hide it somewhere. {I know what kind of tires he has on his Jeep, I see them every day} Buy some tires, get a trusted friend who doesn't like Chris very much to help swap 'em out. Tell Erin "let's spend a nice day together, away from the third and fourth wheel", meet up with the new car "I've got a surprise" (Red, Jeep wheelbase, and same kind of tires) and when she gets in the car.... instead of taking her out, take-'er-out. Send a last text to Tennessee.....

ADDING: { Chris said something about collecting old tires and metal for scrap, better use this info} throw rebar and tires in after her.

If you're motivated enough this is a very plausible operation.

She sure could have made better decisions..... Also, killing someone is not a good divorce alternative.

Maybe the Sheriff already suspects something. Could be why she's a person of interest??

Hi, I know that EC moved to 29palms on her own, and i read that she was there from late 2013, and JC was not home when she moved there on her own, was this the time JC was stationed in Japan for a years tour? Does anyone know when JC came to 29palms? thanks

Most of us here had to do some research and figure out what the laws were and what they meant. CL wasn't doing that. He was looking up how to take the easy way out. Jmo

We don't know how long JC was away...just that he was not there when she arrived. Jmo

Hi vallie
I read somewhere that Jon came home from Japan in October 2013. Not sure how long Erin was there before that.

OT and I apologize for interrupting, but can someone suggest an article or post or thread that would more or less get me up to speed? I'm coming into this case kind of late in the game, working my way through the threads slowly but surely - It's A Lot of material! I love reading but I'm worried the case might be over by the time Im able to finally catch up!

TIA :)

Hi renah
This where you can start. (link at bottom) When you get to the end it will say that the thread is closing, and then there will be a new link to go to the next thread. That's the best way I can come up with... It's a lot of reading though. 832 posts.. Not sure what the easiest way is ? Or maybe just google erin corwin and read all the articles? Sorry, that's the best I can come up with ~

Your theory is way to complicated and would require the cooperation of too many things and people. I'm not biting. Sorry.

Agree, LA2cabo. There's thinking outside the box and then there's wild speculation. The two are not the same, although 77DH7's scenario would make for an interesting mystery novel.

Unless EC was in love with CL and had no intention of raising her child with JC. If she indicated to him that she was leaving JC and wanted CL to accept responsibility and leave NL and be with her I can see where he would think he was backed into a corner (motive wise... Definitely NOT a reason to kill anyone.) I know it is a popular theory that EC was planning on raising her child with JC but I have seen nothing that would indicate that to me. If EC had an ongoing affair with CL, got pregnant with his child, and readily lied to her husband to meet CL on the day she was murdered I do think she was hoping to be with CL and wasn't planning on staying with JC.

IMO affairs are selfish acts. I don't see a 19 year old who is willing to cheat on her husband with his friend, co-worker and neighbor as someone who is willing to live 18 years with a man she so willingly cheated on for months just so that she could raise a child in a stable and solid environment and not disrupt CL's life. She risked everything to be with CL. I think she wanted CL and CL didn't want her in the same way. MOO.
I think it is possible CL told her he could not leave his wife until after he got out of the marines and moved his wife, daughter and all his belongings to Alaska and EC told her husband about the pregnancy simply because she could not hide it any longer or would not be able to hide it till CL got out.I think it is also possible EC convinced her husband it was his not so he would raise the kid but as a way of her buying time till she could leave him for CL.

bbm.....

The arrest warrant said that the head stamp on .22 caliber fired cartridge casings found at the scene were consistent with the head stamps on .22 caliber casings recovered from Lee's vehicle and his residence. I can't remember anything that said the casings found in the vehicle and at his residence were spent. It could be just the way it was reported, but this is something I've wondered about for awhile. If anyone knows, please correct me. TIA
