Very interesting tactic by the prosecutors, to wait for the last minute. Wonder why?
Part of me goes back to wondering about NL's involvement, if any, and whether they are trying to work out whether she will testify against him (and, if so, push hard for him to change his plea).

I imagine EC's family might accept a plea deal over a trial, given their willingness so far to let LE do the work. I know if I were in their shoes, I could not bear to hear all the details and to hear CL try to weasel his way out of it. :(

Can you explain how EC's family has any say in what plea or sentence is discussed or given?

So I don't know how to post a link for sure, but I just found this interesting article.

Start donating - it's what #ErinCorwin would want “@KPCCNews: Ranch hurting - The White Rock Horse Rescue ranch kp.cc/1r6nqCv”

Whaaat???? All of a sudden they're acknowledging Erin's existence? I don't really "do" Twitter... please tell me I'm reading this wrong.

ETA (Edited to Add): I see now this isn't Twitter - sorry, I was confused. Still... suddenly they need $$ and they're talking about Erin?

Tried again and got the article to come up. I can't quote the whole thing of course but this part stood out to me:
http://www.scpr.org/programs/offram...aign=Feed:+KpccLatestNews+(KPCC:+Latest+News)

White Rock ranch is a charity for horses, still surviving, but changed forever by a brush with evil.

<snip>

And then there's Cassy, the horse I came to see. Lexie Marks, one of the visiting Marine wives, is "sponsoring" Cassy, a big step on the road to adopting her. But there are complications, "because her owner recently died." Cassy is skittish and has trust issues. And no wonder — the horse’s story is almost entirely about loss.

Isabella told me Cassy came to the ranch from an abusive household, run by a hoarder. For months, she was too skittish to make a friend. Then a shy 19-year-old newlywed named Erin Corwin relocated to Twentynine Palms with her Marine corporal husband and visited the White Rock ranch. The bond between Erin Corwin and Cassy was instant and profound.

Isabel said, "Erin picked her out of 30 (horses). I don't know why or how, and she says, 'I want this one.' But she walked in and caught her. She rode her bareback without a bit, and those two were just one."

Negative publicity didn't hurt the ranch, Isabella Megli did.

I just looked at this and realized someone might think I wrote it. I just cut and pasted it from twitter so you could find the article. I did NOT write "Start donating..."

BBM: Do you have a link for this information? I'd love to read about it as I'm a tax payer in California. TIA

Oh I completely agree, and I've really wanted to defend her from the beginning. I know she's not a POI so I won't say too much but I've found I just couldn't anymore.

I was happy to see that someone else is now sponsoring Cassy. I really hope Cassy ends up trusting someone new after all of this. Poor thing's got to be feeling pretty lost.

I just read that article. So now she brings up Erin's name with a tear in her eye because she needs money? I cannot forget that she didn't have a kind word to say about Erin even out of courtesy. I've shown more compassion and concern for a stranger's death! What or who hurt her ranch? Her friend Christopher Lee who murdered poor Erin in cold blood. Perhaps I'm nit-picking but saying 'negative publicity surrounding Erin's murder' is just wrong. If she wants to blame someone for the 'negative publicity' (Yes, A cold-blooded murder won't be well-received by the public) then it better be Lee. She can blame herself too if she wants to be brutally honest. The sentence ought to be ' White Horse ranch is a charity for horses, still surviving, but forever changed by a brush with evil called Christopher Lee. '

It's too bad that the poor horses are stuck with her.

Hmmm...expensive plane tickets are needed and suddenly IM cares about Erin and suggests people donate to the ranch?

YeAh, no. I'm not buying THAT.

Ok... I was actually starting to give IM the benefit of the doubt, when this video first started playing. The reporter made it sound like she was interviewing her (IM) as a friend of Erin's...... But very quickly I realized that IM was emotional for the Lee's....Innocent until proven guilty

I'm under the impression that it was either the defense that asked for a continuance or it was by mutual agreement so that the defense could have the necessary time to review the 1400+ pages of evidence.

I would think the defense requested it and the prosecutor agreed it was reasonable. I can't imagine the prosecutor requesting a continuance so the defense can peruse the discovery documents. To me, it's up to each side to speak up for themselves. They are adversaries, after all.

Well now. IM seems to have plenty of wonderful things to say about Erin now that she's using her to hawk for donations! That just makes me

Did IM ever had the intention of letting Erin have Cassy after the finding out about the relationship? NOW IM is :back::back:. Really? IM is is crying about donations when a young woman is dead. Good lord.

That's very nice of you. Of course, your post warned me, so I was a little more jaded. First, she chose the horses over her husband. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt on that. Maybe it was a good trade, lol. But then she said each of those horses drinks 62 gallons of water a day. That is just ridiculous. The average horse drinks 5-10 gallons of water a day. 1 gallon a day per 100 pounds of body weight, a little more or less depending on the animal. So my 1100 pound quarter horse who is a big drinker (we call her the camel) might drink more like 12 gallons a day.

I have never experienced the beastly hot weather of that area, so let's triple the normal intake to be very generous. But IM is claiming each horse needs 6-10 times the average daily intake. Too much water could kill an animal just like it would kill us. My opinion is that she is either greatly exaggerating her needs to generate more donations or she is dangerously misinformed.
