I agree. I think even if we eliminate the ranch owner interviews (given her inconsistency), the fact that CL directly lied to the police about his involvement with EC during a missing person's investigation is HUGE. He's either a huge moron, or guilty of something.
Add this to all the stuff seized (that we know of) during the searches, and the potato gun charge to ensure he is not going to disappear, and I think LE is not looking very far elsewhere (other than to find whether there is an accomplice). But they know they will have a MUCH easier time of this if they can find EC prior to the potato gun hearing.

I think it's pretty well established that LE always start missing person and homicide investigations with the spouse/significant other and work out from there. In this case, whatever else they have, CL put himself firmly in the hot seat by lying to LE at least twice about his relationship with Erin.

If you read the probable cause affidavit linked above, and listen to the various interviews the ranch owner gave, I think you'll understand why LE is so interested in the boyfriend.

please correct me if i'm wrong, but the pregnancy tests result shows positive if the HCG hormone is present, and is it possible that the pregnancy test she took after her miscarriage could have shown positive because the hormone from that pregnancy hasn't left the body yet? i dont know how long it takes for HCG to exit completely, but im pretty sure it still will show up as false positives for a few months after the miscarriage.

HCG is still generally present for a little while but I think no more than a few weeks at most. I'm pretty new to this so I may have my timeline off, but didn't she miscarry in February? Shouldn't still be HCG left for June test then.

i wanted to comment on the party they had the day before erin disappeared, the party that erin left early, i cant remember the source, but according to it, CL was asking people at the party "who wants to go hunting tomorrow with me?" and i don't know if EC was present to hear that, but i would guess that JC would've heard that, and if his wife's excuse for going to JTNP and he was suspicious of her and CL previous affair, wouldnt JC think "hmmm these 2 are going to be together on saturday" what if someone said "yeah, i want to come hunting with you" it could be him setting up his alibi ahead of time because that is what he told LE, he was in JTNP hunting on saturday from 7:30 until 4 pm. Sounds fishy , and what about EC alibi to her hubby, she would be in the same place as CL, assuming JC heard CL ask if anyone wants to go with him?

I think LE has video of Erin leaving base. I also think they know where JC was at that time. I have read he worked 7-7, not sure if true of course, but he did talk about the animals needing attention when he got home. If he left home before her and she was seen leaving later, Imo, he would not be a suspect. Jmo
I think her cell phone also plays a role in this. While LE said it was turned off after she left the base they never said how long after. It could have been a while.I imagine they have been able to track where it went after she left the base until it was turned off and also tracked where Cl and JC phones were at the same time and whether they also just happened to turn there phones off.

Well, I have to say that I questioned the 7am leaving time from the beginning because, for me, it didn't make sense that she would leave that early and be gone until 4pm, and I understand that it gets hot later in the day so, leaving early she would beat the heat, but being out until 4pm, Erin would still be in the heat, so that never added up for me, and I questioned early on what Else was she going to do that day, because it just didn't add up for me. I am a morning person and I did not get it, so now we know there is more to the story.
IMOO.
I wonder if all hotels in the area have been checked out; I mean going there asking did this couple check in that morning....you know? Good Point...they actually could have gone to a hotel.

I believe he told LE he was hunting alone.

I've always wondered about the abandoned condo that burned in 29 palms a week or two after EC went missing, for apparently no reason. But I have to think police were smart enough to check that out.

I agree. In the Statement of Probable Cause, they simply say the phone was shut off "sometime" after she left. But wouldn't the phone provider be able to tell exactly when? If so, LE has this information of course.

Honestly, I am feeling like there is really no point to us all sleuthing, since LE clearly has way more information than we do and no interest in help from the public. But, I keep hoping we come up with something.

We aren't even supposed to know as much as we do. If not for the leak, we could not even discuss the affair as it would be a rumor still.

It depends on the pregnancy. With a "normal" pregnancy, the HCG levels would have dropped. If, she had a molar pregnancy, she still could have had elevated HCG. However, if she had a molar pregnancy, she most likely would have been undergoing medical observation/care for it. Really, we just don't know enough about her medical history and probably won't. JMO.

O/T: FYI...If you're following the Jenise Wright case, unfortunate breaking news over there.

we have both concerned; poss parents of the baby planning to "meet" at JTNP that morning for photos and to hunt per CL. Hunting isn't allowed in JTNF or JTNP, his alibi is a very faulty excuse. All need to be discussed, because of the circumstances. And all theories, as well as profiling should be offered up. It only helps LE as they do follow this board, unknown to some. When you have both parties at the same location, or a plan to meet up at the same local and then one goes missing, that is Means Motive and Opportunity. The three golden rules to any investigation and I think this one, has enough to charge. I'm hopeful they will charge him when he returns to the mainland. But I also expect him to be a no show. So this is my theory, MMO has been met, they should soanar that horse ranch as well as 2 miles out of home radius and JTNP radius. Any new cemented in places in either properties should also be scanned. JMO and My Theory to date. It's scott peterson all over again imo.

Just wanted to expand on the first points you made about hunting. I have read several people post that you can't hunt in Joshua Tree. Hunting IS allowed in Joshua Tree just not allowed in JTNP. The area LE was searching around and in the mines is BLM land that is NOT in the park but directly adjacent to the boundary of the park. It is the area that is accessed by a dirt road off of the 62. If you look at a map of JTNP the area they searched that I reference above is the white area almost dead center to the north of the park land.

Also, just because you aren't allowed to hunt in an area it doesn't necessarily mean people won't. With that said, I doubt he was hunting within the boundaries of the actual park.

Also, I wonder if he had a hunting license?

Here is some info I posted several threads ago about where some people hunt in the twentynine palms area.

Random thought... I don't think it's possible to have a 'boyfriend' and 'husband' at the same time.

Thank you for clarifying the difference between JT and JTNP. I think this confuses people who aren't familiar with this area. I was guilty of adding to the confusion with some of my earlier posts in this case because I "know" which one I'm talking about...but after a while I realized everyone else didn't! (Also, not everyone realizes there are mines both inside and outside JTNP, so that can get confusing too.) Thanks for the reminder, Voice!
