What about license plate readers? You'd think there would be plenty of those in that heavily populated, tech heavy area.
ETA: OK just realized the plate probably doesn't even have an alert issued to it yet....Ugh!

If she thought she was in the Matrix, not the casino, she may be hiding somewhere. Along with the car. I wonder if they checked the airport parking lot.
True. May want to check the Matrix Casino parking lot too. MOO

Just based on her SM, this young lady could 100% be my own daughter. Both into tech, both heavily into SM, travel and networking. My answer to the idea of tossing the phone: NO. She likely kicked herself for not charging it but I seriously doubt she'd toss her device.
As for the award, I suspect she would have shown up to accept (again, networking in her field, the optics are everything) if she were able, no matter how she felt about the actual award.

Thanks! I had it backwards -I thought she missed the ceremony and then got lost going to the airport. Instead, she got lost going to the airport and missed the ceremony a few days later.

That sounds rather serious!

I'm looking for input to understand the big picture. Are these the correct locations? Can we add some times? When was the last contact by phone, when did the phone stop working? Was the flight at 6:30PM?

According to the husband, her phone stopped working some time after midnight (earlier I read 1AM). Her parents last heard from her close to midnight. She was still driving at that time.

I think she knew early on that she was not going to make the 6:40 flight. We don't know when her manic episode started or what triggered it. Getting to the airport (she wasn't too far away) and trying to catch another flight would probably have been her next priority.

Just to be clear, manic episodes don't need a trigger. However, travel in and of itself can bring on an episode or worsen it, as can loss of sleep, general anxiety, specific anxiety, and excitement.

The ability to use ordinary cognitive functioning (to "know" when to be somewhere or to "know" where one is) can be severely impaired. As in, non-existent. That would be the severe end of mania and it can ramp up fairly quickly (certainly in the course of a day).

Normal abilities (such as using google maps) may be impossible. Objects that have an ordinary use may suddenly appear to have many unusual uses. I think it's imperative to find that car. I hope SJ TV stations are covering this. Even if she never made it to the Matrix Casino, I'm guessing that the Casino and its customers might be able to get the word out (if the Casino is okay with its premises being used for posters).

I will say I would be happy with major hotels and places like casinos using their in-house TV channels for missing persons alerts. I'd give business to places who did that.

I find it very odd that with their actual knowledge of that call (one of their own officers made the call) they are still not calling this what it is, a missing persons investigation, not voluntary. MOO IMO ETC;
Well, we don't know what she said to them. Apparently it wasn't enough to trigger that "5150" status. Or perhaps it did. We don't know. She may be voluntarily missing, but also 5150. We just don't know how they assessed that call. I'm sure they tried to get her to pull over so they could eyeball her, but obviously she didn't comply or was together enough to brush them off. We don't know.

One would think if she is that out of touch with reality that this is now a public safety issue. You don't want someone who is out of touch with reality behind the wheel endangering herself and innocent citizens around her.

Was Camden and Menlo where she was running out of gas at 3:30PM, or was that midnight?

Yes Otto, have also been tracking by map - me thinks she likely went down the 85 to Almaden and potentially attempted to retrace her steps. I'd be tracking that h'way, northbound.

Otto, looking at the "Help Find Erin Valenti" FB page, her husband indicated it was closer to midnight when EV was running out of gas.

They didn't, however apparently they did talk to her at some point. It's all very confusing. Sounds like a "Magical Mystery Tour"

Thank you for posting this. She certainly seems to qualify based on what they post about criteria for a "missing person". However, she must have said something to them that indicated she is fine and doing her own thing?

It definitely looks like she made a wrong turn after visiting the colleague, drove a long ways in the wrong direction - talking to family throughout - and then lost contact.

The entire drive, from visiting the colleague to the last contact in Sunrise Almaden, is just over an hour. What was she doing for 6 or more hours? Did she stop at Casino M8trix?

A sub-urban journey within the matrix perhaps.

IMO
I've read the thread and her find FB.

Phone:
I believe she had her iPhone charging cord because she was on her phone a lot from 3:30 pm to 1 am. I know if no phone that has that battery life.

Mind Altering Substance:
Her personality change... I do not know of any recreational or RX drug that lasts 10 hours that gives a constant adrenaline rush. Even Adderall/ Ritalin have half lives and you come down off your high without replenishing. I mention those two because of fast talking comments from her mom. If you aren't use to it or not prescribed it, the rxs makes you hyper and seem crazy.

Overall:
My main concern that 1 am in any big city would be risky for a beautiful lady that gets out of her car, let alone a confused one.
Prayers
