HUNTER: Fabio Sementilli's family readies for murder trial | Toronto Sun

''They called beloved Toronto hairstylist Fabio Sementilli “Big Daddy.”
The son of Italian immigrants, Sementilli became a rock star in the world of clips and curls with his skill and gregarious personality.
And then it was all ripped away, cruelly, senselessly on the patio of his suburban Los Angeles home on Jan. 23, 2017, as he was puffing a cigar on his favourite chair. With his back turned, the heartless killer struck with a knife in the middle of a sunny day.''

''The hairstylist was discovered in a pool of blood by his 16-year-old daughter (which cops allege the killers orchestrated). The 49-year-old was dead at the scene sending shockwaves throughout the styling world.''

''On March 7, 2022, Monica and Baker will finally go on trial after years of delays and legal machinations. For the tight-knit Sementilli clan that day can’t come soon enough and several family members plan to be in the California courtroom.''
'' When he was offered the opportunity in 2012 to become a vice president for the Wella hair products arm of Procter and Gamble, his family told him it was the opportunity of a lifetime. Within five years, that sun-kissed dream would become a nightmare.
Friends and family remain puzzled why his widow didn’t just file for divorce and leave him if she was so desperate for a new life. Cops claim there were a million reasons, all of them bearing the mug of George Washington.''

There are no words for how cold and heartless the alleged murderers were to involve FS’s daughter, knowing she would find her father’s body.

“Monica Sementilli, 49, and her boyfriend Robert Louis Baker, 58, are charged with first-degree murder in the insurance slaying of famed Toronto hairstylist Fabio Sementilli , 49, on Jan. 23, 2017, in Los Angeles.

He was stabbed to death on the patio of his Woodland Hills home.

According to the indictment, Monica Sementilli then waited for her youngest daughter to find her father….”

Jan. 23rd is the day he got killed - but they weren't arrested until June, 2017 - or am I reading that wrong - and they are saying - Fabio was killed on 1/23 & eventually both of them were charged - but no date...

I think I'm confused - but I guess that comes with old age....

I think it’s just referring to the date the crime was committed/FS was murdered, not the date charges were filed.

Okay - had to read that sentence a few times - just wanted to make sure I read it right! Thanks! :)

Anyone looking for a fairly comprehensive refresher of this case prior to the upcoming trial, this link summarizing a prior 48 hours show is worth a read. I think what’s really cool is the fact that although LAPD was given good reason to suspect the wife and her “friend” early on and actually had them under surveillance, they never let on while following along with the staged storyline, the crime was committed by local “ knock knock burglars”, even releasing CCTV of the actual perps pretending to be the burglars.

It’s a brilliant example of what is the focus inside an investigation might not always be what it appears to be from the public eye.

Crazy it’s been almost 5 yrs and continuous delays. Hope trials finally start in 2022.

Yes, lengthy delays, hopefully the trial can commence in March as scheduled. As often happens with two accused, I bet they each point the finger of blame at each other. I don’t recall the formal name of that type of defense but it’s actually a known tactic, hoping the jury will find both parties Not Guilty because they’re unable to be convinced who is accountable beyond reasonable doubt. But I doubt it would be successful, they both deserve to face full consequences.

TY for this. I went down the rabbit hole on this crazy story during lockdown, but had forgotten some of the details.

Fox is reporting that the home was ransacked :(

Sadly, Fabio is a friends cousin. The family is devastated of course. So sad.

ETA: just say dotr already mention the Fox article. I guess they were either robbing him blind or looking for something maybe?
How is he a friends cousin exactly?

You hope they are found Not Guilty?????
Care to explain how you are invested in this case????

Yes of course I read it! What they deserve and what your hoping are complete opposite. Very strange comment

I’m not sure what is the problem with your comprehension or why you seem intent on intentional misinterpretation. What I find strange is why you chose to quote only the end of my sentence and completely ignored the beginning “I don’t recall the formal name of that type of defense but it’s actually a known tactic, hoping the jury will find….…”. It seems crystal clear to me that I’m referring to a defence tactic, not “my hope”.

The discussion pertained to why it appears their trial will now be held jointly. Feel free to ignore my future posts.

I think you are misunderstanding the poster. She is saying that co-defendants sometimes point the finger at each other as a defense strategy hoping the jury has a hard time pinning it on them and get an aquittal. She goes on to say that she doubts that strategy would work.
