Anyone know why we are on such a long break?

Found an update!

DAILY TRIAL UPDATES
DAY 34 – 3/19/25

*The defense’s star witness and Monica Sementilli’s lover, Robert Baker, finishes his testimony on Wednesday, testifying for three and a half days.
*Robert Baker testified that he purchased GPS tracking devices and placed them on Fabio Sementilli’s vehicles before his death. Baker said he removed the tracker from one of the vehicles while visiting a bar with Monica Sementilli. Monica did not see him remove the tracker.
*Monica Sementilli has not spoken to Robert Baker in six years.

bbm .. it is really hard for me to believe that they haven't had any contact for six years. Maybe no direct phone calls or letters, but I would bet money on it that someone is still getting messages back and forth between them. imo

something that the defense was asking Christopher Austin about and they went to sidebar. The last question they asked him was about him saying he thought he was coming to LA just to rough up Fabio .. and he said that is the story he told the investigators before he got an attorney.

this short 10 minute break has turned into an hour.

  • #685
back for about 10 minutes and are now playing Christopher Austins proffer tapes and the judge breaks now for lunch. I'll be really surprised if they don't lose more jurors. Such a waste of peoples time for a trial that has already dragged out for 6 weeks. moo

The first witness after Baker (a cell phone expert) at the end of his testimony was shown Baker's Amazon list of purchases and there was a GPS unit on it, but no date as to when purchased. I was most interested in that - did he buy it before he bought the burner phone(s) or after?
Thank you — I missed that!

@Curious Me
I was under the impression that the prosecutor was trying to discredit Baker’s story about the GPS devices because the only way he could’ve known that Fabio would be at home alone on the day of the murder (if the devices didn’t exist) is if Monica told him.

Because that was his story. That he bought the GPS devices long before the murders and put them on both Monica and Fabio’s vehicles so that he could track them and know when Fabio was at home alone. They asked him if he checked the GPS before going to the house and he said he didn’t really have time but mentioned that he got push alerts on his phone when Fabio left the house. I guess all this information about the GPS devices is supposedly new information that he just shared with his attorneys last week.

IF I’m understanding correctly. But I’ll admit that I had a really hard time following his testimony 90% of the time — between all of his brain dead moments or asking the prosecutor to repeat herself about a million times or his inability to recall conversations that he had just a week ago.

Thank You again, @cujenn81. Ah-ha. He says he bought the GPS trackers long before the murders. Yet, there's doubt they even existed. Just his lying word is not enough. That's why the big deal made about the GPS devices, all those questions, all his forgetfulness.

the only way he could’ve known that Fabio would be at home alone on the day of the murder (if the devices didn’t exist) is if Monica told him.

I understand now that without the GPS devices he says he put on the vehicles, he'd have to rely on Monica to supply such info about where Fabio was. So, if the Jurors disregard there ever being GPS trackers, then Monica is implicated in being of so involved. Easy to believe it, too, with them being together right before, etc.,

If I remember correctly, they said the purchase date was June 11th, 2016. There were also some other very interesting purchases shown on that Amazon list. Time stamp is 4:48:30 of day #33 eta .. on Law & Crime

Thanks for that! I recall Silverman showing him the purchase invoice of the burners with the fake name on it, but don't remember when that was or what the date of purchase was.

Did anything come up about Monica having s e x with Birdsong?

I've been following this trial and would like to know if there is a thread, too!
JH is toast IMO.

This was a riveting trial. A murder on video and I can’t believe that he got manslaughter. Shooting, reloading and spitting warrants a murder charge.

I can’t imagine the terror that Ashley and the kids were experiencing. The state could have done more to humanize Ashley to the jury.

Did you see how angry Jordan was at the sentencing, he thinks he’s the victim.

Hi @Luna20. I believe this was brought up yesterday by the prosecutor to Baker, who of course, denied any knowledge.

I believe the date of purchase for the burner phones (2 of them) were right after the murder and they think he gave one to Monica when he went to her house for Fabio's wake. She then took that phone with her to Canada for his funeral. The amazon invoice that I referenced above is the one that shows he purchased a GPS device in June 2016.

Hmmm...so how was he tracking where Fabio was via the GPS if he only had it on the burner phone and not his usual phone? I know he said he also had it on the laptop but he didn't carry that around like he did his phone.

Closing is going to be intense, he gave her so much ammo.

Yes, and he testified that his regular phone went missing when him and Monica went to South Carolina and his laptop was stolen out of his vehicle shortly after the murder. You just can't make this stuff up .. oh wait .. lol

Geez the defense is really grasping at straws by bringing Austin back to the stand. They know how much damage to their defense Baker’s testimony and lies have caused over the past few days. The issue is that there's no taking back how repulsive Baker is and how every word he spoke was a lie and on top of that, there is no way they can overcome all the other evidence pointing to her guilt. I just wish they'd speed things up and wrap this up before we lose any more of the jury.

Austin was the only defense witness today. Opps that's today for me as I'm in Australia and watching it a day after you.
