This goes down for me as one of the most “What the heck was she thinking” cases I’ve followed. Glad Fabio received justice.

The Sementilli sisters really defended their brother and continued to keep his memory alive. Their press conference afterwards was so sad. Saying they would gladly take their family name back from Monica since she clearly didn’t want it. Loved that.

The daughters are victims too and I can’t blame them for sticking by their mom right now. It’s a lot to process. Monica obviously didn’t help them after this happened and who knows if they’ve recovered or received counseling. I hope they can someday go back to the Sementilli family where they will be lovingly welcomed.

I am puzzled in cases like this where one of the parents is found guilty of murdering the other and the children, at least most of the time, rally to the remaining parent. I do understand that to some extent, but when the evidence is so clear as it was in this case, the children continue to defend, in this case, their mother. The children in cases like this are also victims of the selfish murdering parent who not only murdered their partner, but did not care a whit about their children. Selfish does not even begin to describe Monica.

'Fabio Sementilli's Sisters: 'We Can Never Forgive What She's Done'

Fabio Sementilli's sisters, Mirella Sementilli and Lori Picillo, speak after Monica Sementilli was found guilty of murder and conspiracy in the death of 49-year-old Fabio. (4/11/25)'

This is a lovely photo of the family. They were close and so fond of each other. Eight long years to wait for justice.

“This was a cold and calculated crime motivated by greed and betrayal,” District Attorney Hochman said. “Today’s verdict ensures that those responsible for this ruthless act will be held accountable. Our office remains steadfast in the pursuit of justice for victims and their families. We extend our deepest sympathies to Fabio Sementilli’s loved ones as they continue to mourn his tragic loss.”

I do so feel for that youngest daughter. It seems from her post that now the work of facing the reality of who her mother is, has started, and I wish her many loving people close by for support throughout her life.

Monica would make an interesting case study, I keep thinking how, despite her personality type issues, she seemingly mostly functioned within the bounds of what society considers "the norm" --- and then suddenly went so overboard. Midlife crisis is not only for men, for sure. And hormones can be crazy-making boogers. But then, to throw overboard all your motherly instincts and callously subject your precious children to horror, and such suffering and grief, violently yanking away the safe haven and love of their father. It's alien to myself as a mom, specially where there were alternative normative options. She truly is a deviant, she wrought such violent destruction in so many lives, and I am glad she will likely be kept away from society, and potential grand kids.

Well said. When she realizes that Baker played her it’s going to be awful to process it.

My belief is that Baker was in it for financial and s e x u a l favors. He flattered her and she fell for it.

April 11, 2025 article - Love? Hmmm. Her statement would be true if that’s all they had.

[…]

“Just because we fell in love does not make us criminals,” Sementilli can be heard telling Baker at one point.
