Ugh this is so typical of you its a word document and I screenshot it from my phone haha I'll try to do it from my computer right now. What a coincidence that we had restarted our endeavors on posting information after a break of at least a month

I appreciate everybody posting what they've gathered so far. I'm still so shocked and nervous, but it really is a relief that there's been an arrest.

Wondering why Gianni was found up in Riverside. So curious about the arrest!

"San Diego police say investigators arrested 29-year-old Carlo Gallopa Mercado in the 8700 block of Westmore Road on Friday at about 10:30 p.m. He was booked into jail on three counts of first-degree murder."

and another...

"Lt. Mike Hastings of the police homicide squad said Carlo Gallopa Mercado, 29, was arrested Friday night in the Mira Mesa neighborhood of San Diego and later booked into county jail on three counts of first-degree murder."

"Hastings released no further details but said Chief Shelley Zimmerman will hold a news conference Monday."

Stunned that they finally made an arrest!
So curious...who is this guy?
Why, why, why?

Arrest made in Christmas Eve Mission Valley shootings

"Carlo Gallopa Mercado, 29, was booked by San Diego police at 7:24 a.m. Saturday for three counts of first degree murder."

Boy would I like to know the answer to the "why" question... although I realize, it doesn't bring them back. It just seems so senseless.

BBM not surprised it's first degree murder. I mean it seemed like it pretty much had to be, but I hope this means they have very solid evidence showing premeditation.

I love reading about true crime, mostly b/c I want to know the why of peoples actions. This is the only case I ever read that stuck with me enough to check it here and there. it's the only time I have ever posted as well! I was so happy today to read an arrest was made my eyes welled up. I think it's the feeling of losing three family members so senselessly that just struck me. Every time I saw the FB pics I would just feel so much for the family. That was so nice of the person who created that. Anyway, I'm babbling but I am so happy for this family. I have enjoyed reading all of your educated posts as well :) Finding this site made me feel like not-such-a-weirdo for the interest I had in reading about these topics.

The San Diego Police Department said Carlo Gallapo Mercado, 29, was arrested Friday in the 8700 block of Westmore Street in San Diego

The family does not know the suspect.

BBM: really?! I bet Gianni, Sal, and Ilona did - or at least one of them did. I just can't even envision a stranger randomly hunting down 3 friends if there's no connection.

I can see why the family wants pictures. Maybe see if they recognize the face even though they don't recognize the name.

The booking thing that I linked right after the news came out had "F" as race - that's Filipino.

I don't believe this man acted alone. This could be just the first arrest. And could be why LE is waiting until Monday for a presser. And according to witness reports at the scene they described the shooter as getting into the "passenger" side of the vehicle. Must be two involved, IMO.

I agree, I don't believe that's the right person. That photo came up in my search as well. There's a person with the suspect's same first/last name and middle initial (G) who is the same age as the arrested person that lives in CA, but he's in the Hayward CA area and I haven't found a strong enough connection to San Diego for him to go ahead and post the link to his facebook page. It's a common enough name for people of both Latino and Philippine descent that it's probably safest to wait for the police to fully identify him before we all go posting information on innocent people.

Without a doubt this UGH was directed at me :floorlaugh: And it was more than a coincidence that after all of our chatter earlier today about posting, etc. and FB nuts that this happened. It was KISMET!

I can't find any evidence that links the face above with our perp. All image searches of the guy above take me to a man with a different name and way far away location. Not sure where this pic came from... confused!

I found one on FB in San Diego but because I'm not sure it's him I will not post. It shows he has 52 friends.

That is him. Very definite connections.

But like you, I'm also nearly certain that photos is wrong based on what I've found.

Not that we can link to the pages of others, but if too much is alluded to, it'll probably cause even more to lock down their FB pages. Some of which, right now, are useful for sleuthing. I have no doubt that by the presser Monday much of it will have gone "poof" but some time between now and then could be helpful! JMO :)

SDHELPS and BEST it goes without saying how much I (I won't speak for others) appreciate how many hours you have spent behind the scenes on FB and other endeavors to keep this case as forefront as possible.

And BEST I know much time you have spent undercovers with cops, detectives, PIs, media contacts to get what you could and can when you can. LOL The family I'm sure appreciates your alliances. And SDHELPS keeps you focused.
