SnowAngels, Please forgive me. I see how I screwed that up. I am mad as hell at the others and I let my anger get the better of me.
I don't trust Melissa at all. WHO called you, M? It is vitally important. Don't throw out garbage when you have the answer, for God's sake. Hugues was murdered.

You started a Blog in his memory two days later, didn't you? In it you placed these words, "Hugues De La Plaza was a close friend to many here in San Francisco, CA. Hugues was senselessly taken away from us on June 2, 2007 in the early morning hours." June 4 2007 at 18:58. Right click on "6:58 PM" next to an email icon from posted by Friends of Hugues. Sounds like you were in CA when you wrote those words.

Come on Melissa. answer this question or tell us why you refuse to.

This is a question for you, melissa, and only you.
Who informed you?
If you refuse to answer this question, explain why, please.

Ok you guys are going to think I am so weird, but I got a set of glass coasters for Christmas and they are the kind that you take out the black and white pictures and put your own picture in. The black and white picture is of 2 girls wrapped in blankets by the ocean. I am not joking. I could swear the picture is M Nix. I have a digital camera and I will try to figure out how to put it on here so you guys can see it. Not that it has anything to do with anything. I just think it's very strange.

It is strange, too, that she will not tell us who informed her. It is strange that she has placed so many pictures of Hugues and her on the web. And it is amazing the way she hangs all over him, too. It is awful.

When she greets Hugues' parents in front of a building where she was protesting, Mrs. de la Plaza pulls away from her sharply.

Folks, honestly, I don't believe she can. No one called her. My opinion. If she was called, why doesn't Christophe say who it was? He can't. He doesn't know. My opinion.

Chris, ask her to give you the name. Not so you will tell us, but so you can tell us she did, in fact, identify the person.

i've been looking through the crime scene photos and i'm wondering how his television/entertainment center was overturned? i believed in the theory that hughes was stabbed outside his apartment and then managed to get inside alone...so is it speculated that while he was flailing around he knocked his tv over? or does this indicate his attacker was inside and a struggle ensued?

  • #228
1) from the pics it looks like only the front door had a dead bolt. i wonder if it is likely the attacker was inside the house and left from the back door, locking it behind him

2) one of the medical reports said the brick wall adjacent to the porch had blood spatter on it consistent with hand movements of stabbing someone. but this brick wall from my understanding is located in the alcove next to hughes's porch. if he was stabbed there, why wasnt he picked on the camera? i know the angle of the camera doesnt give a shot of the porch, but it gets the sidewalk of the porch where hughe would have walked if he entered his apartment from the front door. i dont think there were any blood patterns indicating he came in the back door. Where was he stabbed??? If he was stabbed on the front porch with the attacker on the lower steps like his father postulates, wouldnt there be blood spatter on the wall located behind where the assailant was standing? if that's where he was stabbed would blood be able to splatter on the adjacent brick wall??

As mentioned, she could have flown to S.F., committed the crime, and flown back to VA with time to spare to receive the phone calls. The people who called her don't know where she was when her phone rang.
It is certainly a possibility that she had absolutely nothing to do with this crime.
It is also a possibility that she was involved and covered her tracks, IMO.
No one else that I know of has made a single statement that is inconsistent with his other statements. It seems clear to me that she has made several statements that don't add up. Her behavior is inconsistent with things she has said and defies common sense, too.

It is fascinating that there were in fact three people who informed Ms. Nix.

If you want to know who called me "THE DAY HUGUES" was found dead here they are the following people, all common friends of mine and Hugues, all who live in NYC:

One of Hugues neighbors,
who was a common friend
of one of Hugues work friends
at Charlie Morrow Design Studios in New York
called a Mark B.
(also a former colleague of Hugues at Charlie Morrow)
who then called Jeanie Gosline.
Jeanie used to work at Charlie Morrow
as well with Hugues.
I did not know this neighbor,
as I had not been in contact with Hugues for 6 months. However this person was savvy enough to know that the police probably had not contacted his parents.
Jeanie, not knowing what to do,
called me on my cell.
I did not pick up at first,
as I was at the movies.
Amy and Kathy called
and left messages too.
Once I talked with all of them,
I then called SFPD dispatch to confirm Hugues was in fact dead.
Then I called his parents.

She didn't pick up at first because she was at the movies. When did she pick up? Did she call her back and if so, when? The person called her again?
The other two left messages. What did they say and when did she listen to the messages? All three had her cell number?

Who knows how much time passed between the time they called and left messages and when she returned their calls? They called her "the day" (her words) he died (Saturday), yet, she waited another day or two before calling the SFPD and until 10 pm of that day to call his folks? The ME report says M was in contact with the SFPD Monday morning.

Perhaps she was on her way back to VA?

Nix called SF police before calling France,
before breaking the news to his parents.

She awakened them in France at 4am,
with her call.

She called police Monday morning, the 4th of June.
She called SF from the east coast.
She called France from the east coast.

When it's 4am in France,
it is 10pm on the east coast.

Someone created a website in remembrance of Hugues
on Monday June 4,
at 6:58pm.

It is posted that his folks in France have been notified.

Hi. You guys are relentless. This is a great thread.

I was thinking about silverware. I had silverware once. Five-piece place settings, for 8. I had the serving fork, several serving spoons, and a carving knife, all in that same pattern; silver dessert plates(8); wine goblets(4); and a tea service with a tray. They were all wedding presents. I also had a set of nice stainless, which I used every day. I pawned the 8 places, to pay my electric bill, and I never got it back.

Please don't tell my mother.

I can't imagine having silver service before I got married. I didn't really want it even then. I do love some of the single pieces I've inherited; I treasure those. I even polish them sometimes. I also use them. I don't think a single man in his thirties would have had much in the way of silver service.

I'm thinking the missing (expensive) silverware must be the murder weapon. This silver is unique enough somehow that it is noticeably absent, and so is the murder weapon. Was it a special gift?

Don't the French eat things like peas using a knife? And wasn't the victim eating peas, just before he died? I can see him standing in his kitchen, eating peas with his favorite good (silver) knife and fork. The doorbell rings. He puts down the fork, because it is in his right hand, and he will need that to open the door. His is still holding the knife in his left hand. He opens the door, and his attacker is there. They want to come in, and he says no, but nicely. He starts to shut the door, and the attacker objects. While trying to close the door with his right hand, he leans out the (closing) door (for a kiss? a "goodnight, be careful"? a "don't be mad"? His left hand is on the door jamb, and the (forgotten) knife now points toward the right, towards him. His attacker embraces him, pushing him into the knife, and (accidentally?) stabbing him in the neck.

Was it murder, because the attacker pushed the victim into the knife, or suicide, since the victim died by his own hand?

"2007-06-04T16:5800-0700" is the date and time the Hugues Website began. -700 Greenwich Mean Time equals 7 hour blocks before 12. In other words at 6:58pm on June 4, 2007 on the west coast the website was created.

Parents were already notified at this point. So says the website. If M. is the creator, then I suppose she means that she believes they were informed because this is what the cops told her. (This contradicts her statement that informing them was one of the most difficult things she ever had to do in her life.) Why would say she had to inform them, awakening them at 4am their time if they were already informed by 6:58pm PDT? Given a 7 hour time difference it would be 2am in France, not 4am. Melissa wasn't on the west coast on June 4th either. But, that is where the website originated, from what I can tell. Who else knew his folks had been informed? If M is it's author and she was in S.F. on Monday the 4th., that poses more problems.

It should be 18:58 not 16:58.

At 2:06 a.m., a security camera caught an image. Nix is convinced it is Hugues.

it was Hugues. It was his shadow, she said.

How did she get the security tape?

How could the security camera miss the assailant a few minutes later?

She says he was gentle, really gentle. "The kind of connection that I feel to Hugues is invaluable."

"It is so painful to wake up every morning and not know what happened to the love of your life, to your baby boy, to your best friend," said Melissa Nix.

They ended their relationship for good January 1, 2007. She was pleased he was dating.

“He told me that he’d talked to Hugues’ parents, and all the pertinent people,” Melissa said.

Expecting to commiserate, Melissa called the de la Plazas in France/calling to inform them was very difficult

I told him that the last time I had seen Hugues was Jan 1 2007, and had only seen him a handful of times since moving back to California in November.

I also told him that Hugues and I had broken up more than FOUR years before/but remained close

I also told him that I had moved back to California, in part, to see if Hugues and I could get back together.

He and Melissa had broken up but remained close

broke things off for good/but remained close

I did not know about his daily life or his friends or his plans/but remained close

After spending a handful of times with Hugues from Nov. to Jan.,

We broke up in 2003, but tried to get back together over the years/but remained close

We finally broke things off for good, after a very brief reunite, in Nov. 2006/but remained close

I was happy to hear that he had been seeing other people - wanted him to be happy.

Strange, yep. Spinners of non-spin succeed in establishing a certainty-that the cops ruled his death a suicide, or at least they were leaning heavily in that direction and handling it as if it was, which yielded the same desired end. Can anyone find that that is the conclusion the cops came to or were leaning towards?
The cops said he visited 134 websites (don't quote me, but that is close) upon returning home that night and 125 were 🤬🤬🤬🤬 sites. The computer was asleep when they checked it that morning, awakening upon applying pressure to the touch-pad. The review a former ME concluded, based on the forensics and Casillas' info, (which he said was thorough and helpful) that Hugues was stabbed on the steps in front of his apartment where significant amounts of blood were found that morning. Hugues' dad concurs and demonstrates the manner in which the perpetrator attacked him right where the blood is seen on the steps.
Unfortunately, the very surveillance camera that caught Hugues' silhouette at 2 am as he approached that landing, and a car driving past his place at 2:28 am, does not pick-up any images to confirm their opinions. Later that morning, this camera will show the sun rise and the emergency personnel arrive and process the scene.
A series of inaccurate, contradictory and false statements and claims disguise and distort significant factual information about this filthy crime.

even if i could buy him stabbing himself to death like that, the vanishing suicide weapon makes no sense
