I would have liked to have heard her speaking about this. To hear her use of words in Spanish. There is a lot that can not only be lost in translation but also when it is reported in text rather than to see her speak. JMHO

The amber alert should have went out immediately! My dh says if the kidnappers said they were going to Mexico, they probably headed for Canada. But I don't think so. I think they really headed for Mexico and they crossed the border before this story broke on the news.

There is a reason why they took the child and if LE can get to the reason, they will have a better chance of finding this little one. It will make a difference whether or not the family owed money to a smuggling group or a drug cartel. Or if they do not, but the family that lived in the house before them did. Will also make a huge difference if it is gang related or related to the activities of the older boy(s) here in California as opposed to something happening in Mexico.

I just wanted to add to your post that the father of Briant is in the home....he is the bio dad and Briant is the only child of this mothers present union with bio dad. The other kids are from a previous union, Nancy went on to explain this after the commercial break.

I agree. Also, what she said could have been lost in translation..

I sent an email this morning to Paul LaRocco who wrote the article that states she said " I do not OWE anything" I also asked if he knew How many cars they owned...and I got this reply:

Thanks for writing. I do not speak Spanish but three different translators told me that she said OWE. Obviously, everyone who translated her comments heard it a little different but they all mention that word. That made us curious as well but at this point investigators are saying nothing about the motive.

I know that the family had several cars that were stored/parked in the backyard, so perhaps that’s what La Opinion was referencing. If the family had a large stream of income, it wasn’t clearly apparent from the outside of their home. I have not been inside.



Hopefully they will find the boy.

Just heard on the news that police have said off the record that they think the family is telling the truth about the event but hiding something in their past.

Sounds like they are frustrated and insinuating that whatever they are not telling could make the difference in finding him!

I know after I heard the mom say that she didn't "owe anything" yesterday that my heart skipped a beat, I hate to think this beautiful child is being held for a debt of some sort. Lot's of speculation of that early on in this thread. I don't care where his family is from or if they speak English well or not....he is a child, abducted from our America and that is enough for me. I just want him to be home safe and in his mothers loving arms. She looked to be in sheer agony.

I just found the exact quote in today's Spanish newspaper "La Opinion"..It says:

"Por favor déjenlo ir, mi hijo no les debe nada, yo no les debo nada, no le hagan daño por favor", añadió entre lágrimas.

Translated :

Please let him go, my son does not owe anything, I do not owe anything, please do not hurt him, she said in tears.

I pray they let him go where he is found safe. They have the FBI, Homeland Security, and everyone else trying to find them. Let's hope they find some solid clues quickly. If the family is hiding something, they must be made to realize their child's life isn't worth it. Deportation isn't an issue at the moment. Illegal activity isn't either. They have to come clean to find their child.

I also pray they find the two men on this side of the border so we don't have to play games with Mexico to get them into custody and bring them to justice here. If they harm Briant, I will be really angry if we have to remove the Death Penalty to get them back to the US like happened in the Lauterbach case with Cesar Laurean. These two thugs and anyone they are working for need to be captured and never let back on the streets. :furious:

Hi, I just woke up to a blip on FOX that they now have a major lead they are working and have had 100 tips.

They said nothing can be said about their major lead right now as it is being kept from the public, but also that the family has not been completely forthcoming in some connection of a family member and possible involvement with a cartell.

As he said that, the camera panned in on the sketch of the 24 yr old suspect. He is the one with the full roundish jowels or cheeks. The reporter mentioned something about this guy but naturally I didn't catch that. Whatever he said made me think this guy has some connection to a member of the family.

I'll watch for that blip again and see what I missed, but it looks like they are working fast and furious on the case and leaving no stone unturned! :clap:

I learn something new every day. An option to translate the Spanish newspaper into English. Wow.
I mean, I know the ability is there, I just never put it together before.
And all that high school spanish has not been paying off in trying to read the Spanish papers. I get about 1/10th of it.
Of course, it has been over 40 years since those high school days.
