GUILTY CA - Israel Ledesma-Moreno for kidnap of 3yo boy, San Bernardino, 2009

I know, I saw a little boy in McDonalds today with his parents who looked like he could be a twin to little Briant. It made me think about it for a while.

WTH? The sketch artist bites! The sketches do not look anything like the men in the video.

It is troubling the men were in the liquor store buying booze. :(

I feel nauseous. Where was little Briant while they were in the liquor store. If he was in the truck then I'm sure he was scared and crying. I pray they don't hurt him anymore than the already have by taking him away from his family.

Has it been mentioned what the 2nd guy is carrying in the photo? Loaf of bread, snacks, etc? Reason I ask is if its "kids food" I would lean towards them preparing for a hostage situation. IMO

Prayers for Briant today as well as yesterday....SS I agree those sketches look nothing like the men in this video. Maybe there was a communication gap of some sort. Can anyone make out what they are carrying? Does it look at all like food products? If they are buying food I hope this means they have no desire to kill Briant....am I wrong or what?

I could be wrong, but I thought I overheard HLN TV this morning say it was tape (tie up the family). I'll have to listen again when it's on to verify. Maybe they went to the liquor store before the kidnapping. Think it's weird that you can buy tape in a liquor store!

ETA: Maybe they were talking about the "video tape". I'll keep watching for the story. Don't want to spread a rumor!

UPDATE: HLN reporting suspects on video bought tape to tie up victims at a store in San Bernadino

Our morning news says the surveillance videos were taken Friday night,2 days before the robbery/kidnapping, .

Yes JBean, they purchased the tape at Home Depot on May 1st. The small Market & Liquor store where they were spotted is a block from Briant's home on the corner. This is the same store the mother called from following the abduction as they have no home phone in the house.

Even though the surveillance photos aren't extremely clear, I'm REALLY glad we have more to go off of than just a sketch.

I'm praying hard that this adorable little boy is found safe, and really soon!

Thanks for the clearer picture of the suspects, Tom'sGirl. They are both thin, as the mom described. The thought of them buying that duct tape at Home Depot for the sole purpose of committing this crime is making me sick.

I don't think this was random. I'm not thinking this was just some lower level gang members either.

It was planned as we can see from the pictures that TG posted. It has to lead back to the family. I wonder if the bio father of Briant ever did time? That would be interesting to know, if not, has he ever been approached by organized crime members to participate in something he didn't want to participate in....

Although I think this child is in dire danger, I don't think that he is no longer alive, as of yet. They took him for a reason, not as an after thought. IMHO.

I've checked the San Bernardino Superior Court Records and with his name being SO common there's no way of telling if any of those records belong to him...

Thanks Tom's'Girl, How neat! I hope the right people see this to get a look-see at the suspects.

So many questions. I wonder if they still think they came up from Mexico specifically to do this job? If so I think they are kind of Americanized, knowing Home Depot and all.

I thought it interesting the one guy was wearing black leather pants. I wondered where the white bandana was, then realized this was not taken the day of the kidnapping, and they probably wouldn't want to show colors walking thru the store!

Why did I think Briant was taken on Monday? It was Sunday

I live in this general area. In fact that part of SB I try to avoid, just because it isn't the greatest part of the city. Where you see the google map say Carosel. That's actually a "used" to be mall. The School district rents out of it now, but pretty much thats downtown San Bernardino and there's a lot of gangs, homeless etc. It's just not a great area. I know I'm really beefing up my town. Either way.....

I don't see this being a random crime. I really think these people want something from this family, whether it be the immediate or someone that they are related to. Also, if they really did run to mexico all they had to do was take the 215 straight down the shortcut way and avoid a lot of traffic and get there in I'd say 1 hour and a half (at least to SD) maybe 2 hours? I still don't think they are in mexico though. They probably rat holed it up somewhere here. The problem is these perps look like a LOT of people in this area. From those pictures the only thing I might recognize is the Bronco.

Also...americanized home depot...there are a lot of illegals that go to Home Depot (especially the ones in San Bernardino) that wait outside there in the morning to pick up work. I'm sure a lot of immigrants from Mexico know all about Home Depot.

So if they went to both the local liquor store and to a local Home Depot, is it being presumed that they live locally or that they 'scouted' the area for a few days?

A really informative post I thought worth printing again so it doesn't get missed.

For a burglar the guy with the black leather pants and knee high boots, he appears to have plenty of money. I had a Mexican guy who lives here come look at their photos, and he thought they could be easily involved in drug trafficing - most likely packing heat too. That is all just opinion ;}

Thank you sttct, in the west and now in the southern mid-west you are right about the immigrants meeting every day in front of a home depot to wait for day labor. They get picked up by farmers and ranchers for daily hire. I had forgotten about that and that could be a great resource for LE to interview those that may have been at the HD still.

I gave it a lot thought last night. I agree this isn't a random crime or a crime of opportunity. I can see very clearly that Briant was the target all the while...
1. The purchased the tape at the HD in order to commit the crime in advance.
2. The liquor store purchase isn't connected, it's just something they wanted to have while they waited to commit the crime.
3. They stole the cell phone, why? So that the family couldn't call the LE right away~gives them a head start
4. They were angry they couldn't find the car keys, Why? They didnt' want the car, they wanted to make sure that the family either could not follow them or that it couldn't be used to summon LE right away.
5. IIRC, they taped up everyone except Briant.

Now why do I think this is about something that is owed?
1. mother came right out and said...I don't owe anything, he (briant) doesn't owe anything...
2. Why would they leave everyone alive?

I think that last question is very important. Why would they leave everyone alive and take the youngest child? If it were gang initiation, or retribution...why not just go in and massacre everyone?

Briant was taken for a reason and it was a huge message to whoever "owes" something. It might not even be money or anything tangible. It could be something as intangible as respect, or alligance.

It is the family, either Briant's father or someone related to the family. There is a very good chance that this child is alive, because he was taken for a reason. LE says they have good leads, but aren't saying what they are, I'm willing to bet that they have a very good idea why this all happened.

Praying that Briant comes home safe and sound today.

Even here in the NE we have immigrants and even some unemployed US citizens standing in front of Home Depot looking for day work.
