I know. I really wanted to hear about these 3 DNA samples. I haven’t found any tweets or news articles yet either. This is like a ghost trial. I find it do odd that no one is reporting on a quadruple murder.

And NO, it isn’t because these kinds of crimes are common in Fallbrook. Not at all.

I actually think it was 4 profiles or partial profiles, from defense OS's:

Preliminary computer analysis is all we have now, final results are due in two days, but they have developed profiles on those five items. They say we should be able to develop profiles, there's four of them, they said they're of unknown subjects meaning it's not the McStay family, it's not Charles Merrit, they have been all excluded from the evidence inside the grave.

I think it's been mentioned somewhere along the way that it was 3 male, 1 female, not sure where? maybe an article. jmo

After listening to the State expert, I figured the defense expert would have to convince me that DNA could survive... last week when looking at the OS from McGee again, I noticed he said "She'll (Suzanna Ryan) say it's degraded, it's not something that was just placed there, it's simply broken down from being in the ground." So now I'm really interested to hear what she will say, if she does actually say it's degraded.

I do think that this is something that is going to pose a problem regardless... either it's DNA found in the grave and it was there when they were placed there.... or there are 4 different DNA profiles that got on there after they were found. I could see 1 profile from a tech or someone working the scene... but 4? I'm not sure what that says either. JMO

What was the DNA taken from? I would think from clothing or what JM was wrapped in? If from the blanket/?futon cover it could of been from visitors that sat on the futon that visited the McStay home? If on clothing some type of contact DNA?

I'm interested to hear if she will say she knows it's 9 years degraded (2010) and not 5 years degraded (2013).

If we ever get the blinking audio.

I said Blanket/?Futon cover, so ok.
Part1- Transcript of Charles Merritt Preliminary
1 Q Can you please describe for the judge what items were
2 excavated from grave A?
3 A So inside of grave A during the excavation process we
4 removed a portion of dirt over the two days. From the inside we
5 recovered the remains of a male adult, who was wrapped in a
6 woven white blanket. He had a white extension cord wrapped
7 around his neck, tied in a knot. And then around the outside of
8 the blanket there was a red tie-down strap that was securing the
9 blanket on his remains.

It just seems strange posts are still mentioning it as a futon cover when we know it’s not.

It just adds confusion when we have seen photos of it in the laundry room after the family vanished.

What are some of the examples of what you'd consider to be hard evidence of DK in Hawaii?

What are some of the examples of what you'd consider to be hard evidence that the McStays were not murdered by their next door neighbours?

It's easy to do this - its wild speculation.

We've had two detectives testify that DK was eliminated from inquiries - so prima facie, he didn't do it.

The evidential onus is on the defence to introduce even one piece of evidence that implicates DK in the murders.

If and when they do that, we can discuss State rebuttal.

Is it known as a Fact? What if SM had more than one futon cover with two little boys in the home? Is the futon cover information verified anywhere, because according to detective Steers a futon cover was missing from the McStay home, or was he mistaken?
(quote)
None of the victims were wearing shoes. The woven blanket wrapped around Joseph McStay's skeletal remains appeared similar to a futon cover that was missing from the home after the family vanished, said Joseph Steers, another detective from San Bernardino County.

He was mistaken as far as I am aware as it was brought up in the trial that the futon cover was in the laundry room as they asked Susan about the cover.

They've only got a photo to go on and my understanding is that there were covers missing from the downstairs futon as well as covers missing from large sofa-like cushions possibly upstairs, I will need to check that. So IMO no one can say for sure what was in the grave did or didn't come from the house.

I didn’t say that all I said is it’s not the futon cover. If the trial saw a photo of the futon cover in the laundry room after the family vanished then Joey can not of been buried in it!!

I also want to add so we go from being able to watch the trial live daily. Then we only get audio and tweets, then down to audio and now they are not even uploading daily audio

Yeah, I am starting to really worry that no one recorded yesterday’s testimony. This is just so sad.

Not sure if they are able to tell how old the DNA is or not, but I did do some reading on degraded DNA, I don't think I can explain it to someone else, but I know what to kinda listen for now lol At this point, I just hope we get the audio...

I agree and think there was more than that missing from the house as well. Where is Summer's purse? Most women i know have one? Wasn't JM's wallet missing and phones as well?
I would be about positive this crime happened in that home IMO.

We have heard testimony that the blanket didn't have a zippers or seams like a futon cover. We have heard that Cathy Sanchez possibly put the futon cover back on the futon, that Steers knew this and still put it in the search warrants that it was 'missing'. IMO it was not the futon cover that Joey was wrapped in.

Do you mean from the air mattresses/beds upstairs? Those also were not missing. In Tingley's first photo's from the 15th, they were on the beds. They were removed before the 19th. I'm guessing by the family.

There are some really interesting articles on the internet about how long DNA can last, and it can last for many years depending on what kind of conditions it is exposed to.

What is the importance of the futon cover or not anyway? JM was wrapped in some type of woven white blanket material according to the recovery efforts. I am fairly certain it came from the McStay home, and even if it didn't there were other things missing from the home, and some articles found in the graves. Was the futon cover or not to try and prove the family were killed in the home?

I think there might be some confusion as to what was actually in the laundry room. Looks to me like it could be the missing pillow from the futon.
