None of the referenced testimony reconciles with an old hand written type of check as represented in the photo. I would imagine that the jury is about as confused about all these differant checks and accounts as I am.

Well, we know more than them at this point, and we still don't know much haha They better have someone that can explain all of these accounts and cheques and make it easy to understand or they will be left with questions.

hmm that's interesting. I don't know much about her, what makes you think he would do that? To gamble? or did she have her own issues?
Absolutely to gamble. We know that's what he did with the later checks, deposited and withdrew money at casinos. As far as we know he never told her about the money. His story was he needed Joseph back so he could pay rent.

Are banks different in American in how you open a account as here banks as far as I am aware do a credit check when opening a new account ?

So if he was over drawn or had issues with not paying bills then the bank would know.
In the US the banks have a system to check to see if people are in good/bad standing amongst other banks. Once an account becomes overdrawn it takes some time before the person is entered in to the banking system as not being in good standing. At least this is what I remember from when I worked in banking.

IIRC the ex-wife and stepfather had threatened to make a complaint against the McStays as well and they were very worried about that. So that's why I question whether Summer would have driven the boys anywhere without car seats unless it was an emergency or something.

Did the McStays ever say they were worried about the threat to file a complaint to anyone in their family?

It seems the stepfather and Joey's older son's mom would be the ones worried since an actual compliant had been filed against them.

It sounds like a type of vindictive revenge threat by someone who already had an official complaint filed against them.

When did they threaten Summer? Was it shortly before they were killed by CM?

I cant see Summer being worried if she filed an official compliant against them. That doesn't make sense to me. If Summer was guilty herself of something imo she wouldn't have brought CPC in knowing they would be coming to her own home for further information. Why would she bring attention to herself if she knew she was guilty of anything?

TIA.

You know what I can never understand? Okay, say this is about money and greed, why kill the kids and wife? Wiping out an entire family takes the motive to a whole new level for me.

Summer had mentioned there were problems with CM to MM, but I think the defense objected to anything DK said that was only "hearsay". DK DID get in that CM WAS around alot at the home (per convo with Summer on phone) by what he actually saw himself, and Summer didn't like CM by how CM and Summer avoided each other while he was there.

I believe Summer knew that CM had stolen from the company and JM was going to fire him that day...........CM had to kill her so JM's death wouldn't point back at him and the kids were collateral damage: they knew him, and they were with Summer (and JM if you believe that theory).

Not sure if this was discussed (too hard to scan all the posts), but could someone explain what the significance is about the paint trays etc. that was questioned about during the McCarger cross exam? TIA.

Basically McCarger told Summer to foil the paint trays for an easier clean up. The paint trays found at the home were not foiled , which the prosecution is claiming is an indication of a clean up happening by the killer.

I don’t recall, sorry. I was new to the case at the time that was revealed and made the rookie mistake of purchasing the book of fiction by RB and believing what was in it, which I think claimed a lot of incorrect info on the CPC incident!

Thanks. That sounds like a far-fetched basis on which to claim there was a clean up.

That is what the prosecution THOUGHT he was going to say. That is not what he did say though. He said that he was surprised that it still had the foil in it.

#McStay - Red paint tray had been put on this shelf in the kitchen. McCargar thought it was odd that it had foil in it and a dried paint roller. He talked to Summer days before about lining it with foil for easy clean up. Summer hated cleaning the trays

I had to go back to the old thread to find that to make sure before I posted, but I recall commenting on it and recall posting that it was not what the prosecution was thinking he was going to say.

I was going to say the same thing, and I had missed this moment as well on the first watch/listen. I watched again today and he said something to the effect of he was surprised the foil was still in the pan with paint and it seemed maybe she was interrupted. Also of note, on cross the defense asked him about how he closed the paint cans. He said he couldn't recall. McGee showed him notes from a detective and that he originally stated he would have used a hammer "if they had given me one", instead he used the handle of a screwdriver to fasten it back on. This contradicts what he has since told others about a sledgehammer.
