I remember that there was some sort of public transport very close to the Fallbrook home. They actually passed it in one of the home videos. I don't if it was Amtrak, light rail or bus, but it had a large parking lot that I am assuming was for folks who commuted. Could have come into play?

I think you’re talking about the park and ride at the intersection of Hwy 76 and I15. I think it may feature in the crime, since it’s easy walking from the McStay home, for a vigorous person. There’s no type of public transportation there, as far as I know. Certainly no Amtrak or light rail. But—not that big of a taxi-ride from the Mexican border.

I know the defense said in OS that the murders occurred in the am of the 5th. I have yet to understand why they would say that?

During the cross examination of Ryan, I believe the defense tried suggesting some of their reasoning that the family was still alive on the morning of the 5th.

IIRC, he was saying to Ryan,' the eggs on the counter, the coffee in the maker, the pajama and robes, ...All together tells us that they were preparing breakfast that morning...'

I don't know what other 'evidence' they have to throw out there, other than the 'witness' who claims that DK confessed, and possibly they will also claim that Joey wrote those checks on QuickBooks on the 4th, ....o_O

I think one of the main reasons they want the mcStays to be alive and well on the 5th, is because they want Joey to have written those checks, NOT Chase.

[ how will they explain the backdating?]

Good question, I've been wondering the same thing.

But he hadn't gotten away with it yet. He buried the bodies on the 6th, he still may have had cleanup and also needed to stage the Trooper at the border. Anything could have happened between the time he buried the bodies on the 6th and the time he parked the Trooper at the border on the 8th. So that doesn't make sense to me.

If it is proven that he did indeed turn his phone off on the 4th to kill them, and again on the 8th to take Trooper to border, but then inexplicably left his phone on while burying the bodies (???!!!), I just can't understand why he would have done that, UNLESS he was working with an accomplice on the 6th and didn't have a choice but to have his phone on in case they needed to communicate. Otherwise it makes zero sense.

My problem with this is why no one checked up on the family when they were planning a party for the baby. No family or friends. Do you think someone would have gone by to check up? What about Friday night soccer? All I can think of is how people are so callus about people they are suppose to care for.

well if the trooper was staged then so could of the eggs and coffee grounds. Or maybe CM or the intruders/killers made breakfast for themselves.

The eggs on the counter. Coffee in the coffee pot, partially drank coffee in the coffee cups, cut up fruit in some bowls, popcorn in some bowls (we had a discussion about who would feed their kids popcorn in the morning lol), and the way they were dressed. Oh, and the dogs outside. This was their reason for it happening in the early morning of the 5th. I don't really agree, but just thought I would post the defense 'reason'.

When my kids were toddlers, you could come into my kitchen at night, and I might have coffee still in the pot, partially drank cups if I hadn't had the chance to put the kids to bed and clean up the kitchen yet. And I often gave the kids cut up fruit for dessert after dinner. The eggs may have been out because she was going to use them for cooking dinner that night or she was going to boil some hard boiled for use the next day. I often did that at night and then put them in the fridge and peeled them in the morning.

And the PJs may have been cuz the kids were getting ready for bed.

Also, CM's phone "pinging" off the Victorville Tower on the 6th, near the gravesites, will be a HARD reason for the Defense to state WHY he was there at that particular date and time. They better have a reason other than he was seeing family that day. Just sayin . . . .

I think they are going to aggressively deny the 'cell ping' data credibility. I remember reading an article several months ago, about recent glitches they have found in some of that data. They have a IT hired gun, ready to go.

Ha! This would be a great question for the prosecution to ask the detective on the stand: Did you take fingerprints on the eggs and coffee (the "breakfast items") to determine whether they were from the victims or from.....someone else. Wouldn't the jury get the idea?

Yes, it would be a great question. Unless they didnt take any fingerprints---which they probably didn't---and then it feeds into the defenses narrative that they were inept...

Oh, and that photo of him standing in the very "grave-esque" hole, covered in dirt, somewhere in the desert, with shovel in hand.... Would that the jury could see that.

I wish they could have a HUUUUGE overhead of that, during the witness testimony.

That could be interpreted 2 ways though... if he had the capability to bury them that deep, than why didn't he? I can't recall the exact measurements, but IIRC the graves were not that deep. Could be why the defense kept asking about the depth?
Going under the presumption they were buried directly after he murdered them, he didn't have the time. That's why they were so shallow. I've been to the gravesite. He needed to get out of there -

Right!!!! But this is exactly what they did. You can see the testimony at about 19:30 of this video:

I have also taken screenshots. She also took collective swabs of the interior of the doors.

I need to thank whoever it was that told me about the transcripts in youtube video's!!!!! It makes finding spots in the video soooooo much easier and quicker! (I think it was @ehenson88 ... so thanks!!! )

HOW do you get transcripts of you tube videos? I must have missed that...It sounds like a life saver for me...

Do the majority of people in the U.S refrigerate
Eggs as it’s not a European thing to do and even in shops when you buy them we have them on shelves?

So I am wondering why the eggs on the counter are such a huge deal as that’s were they belong.

I 100% agree with you on the coffee left out as well.

YES it was a long weekend! Thanks for that reminder! Being that it was the last day of the long weekend, what would traffic be like? I guess there wouldn't be work rush hour traffic, but would there be 'people going home after a long weekend' traffic?

So, there were lots of options for him to get back to the Corona area or wherever he was, but could it all be done between 7:30 and 1:30 that day? Looking at the preliminary hearing info, they don't say where he was at 7:30am that morning.
You darling Canadian - Presidents Day 2010 was February 15. It is always celebrated on the third Monday in February.

Under the youtube video, beside the save button, there are 3 dots (... ) click that, than open transcript, it will open a text box with it transcribed. It's not great, but it's ok lol I think maybe because the audio is not great, it probably doesn't help! But I do a search for key words when I'm looking for something, can usually find it pretty quick.

The other scenario could be he had Joey in his truck when he drove down to Fallbrook. The compartment in the middle of his truck was covered, correct? But then that would mean he was driving around with 4 bodies in his truck for a couple of days. :(

I don't think he would do that. I think he had places he could stash them. Workshops, storage sheds, abandoned properties, empty parked vehicles, etc.

The coffee being left over from the morning is also highly probable with toddlers running around unde foot. She just didn’t get around to dealing with it.
The subject of the eggs has been raised before by non-Americans, asyousay. Yes, Americans like their eggs to be refrigerated, the reason being, I suppose, that it renders them fresher for a longer period of time, and also guards against harmful bacteria. Refrigerators have a separate little shelf just for a carton of eggs. Being from Toronto a long time ago, I don't recall that being the case, though. I think my mother just stuck them in the 'frig and that was that. But, she did put them in the 'frig.

haha I know this now! Although, I do not feel bad since in the interview video with Chase and LE, they were also saying President's day was the 8th ... and they live there! LOL

Cheers for the explanation- so Summer wouldn’t of left eggs out all day as that would of been considered strange then.

You know what? I think you may have stumbled across something that was not in the realm of consideration -

Yes I think they will refute the cell phone data too. How will he explain the 90 min call to quikbooks using his own phone though I wonder? I think QB have notes of the conversation where he’s asking for the account to be closed. I really do hope the jury is bright enough to put the jigsaw puzzles together to create the bigger picture. He had the three strikes situation hanging over his head, CM was literally fighting for his life as he knew it vs a lifetime in an 8ft cell.
