LOL, really? He could NOT afford health insurance with a 173K year income? DOES NOT COMPUTE, in my mind.

Can ANYONE afford it? LOL

IF that was his income.. that income does not reflect expenses. Anyone that is self employed is going to have expenses. Gas would be an expense. If he didn't have an office his household bills would be an expense. IF he paid for any supplies... that is an expense. Expenses are deducted from income.

Did anyone watch the Forensic Accountant? Could he not even explain the basics of accounting?

Are you saying Joseph was taking payroll taxes with each check? I saw no evidence of that. But I do remember reading somewhere that he owed a lot of back taxes. I wouldn't be surprised that if he is set free, the IRS, and worse, the Franchise Tax Board will learn of all his unclaimed wages, and come after him.
If that is true, I can definitely see them getting a judgement to collect. JMO

If 1/2 the income CM received is true, he WOULD be able to pay his expenses, rent, child support etc . . . I have no idea where your coming from about this?

I can't explain it any other way LOL He has income... he has expenses... the left over is his net income for the year. I don't even know that this 173K is the right number!!!! LOL

And just so I am clear. I am not saying that he did indeed owe child support, I was using it as an example, and how the bank activity reminded me of that, which then got me thinking that someone or some agency or a bank possibly caught up with him.

HOW does one earn $173K a year and NOT be able to pay for health insurance?
Empty pockets! JM held something in his pocket and hopefully this will be the key!

He would receive a 1099 from anyone who paid him wages over $600.00. A copy is sent to the IRS. He would need to have receipts for his business expenses, which are deductible. I think the testimony thus far is that he spent 2% on business related expenses.

So are now saying that he was an employee of Joey's? If Joey was paying Chase for a service or as a sub contractor, I do not believe it is the same as an employee and wages, is it? JMO because I'm Canadian, but I do know that this is how it works here.

I don't want to go into a lot of detail, but I do have personal experience, but I am also Canadian. But the way you are saying it is that if EIP is paying IDesign4u for services or contracting out work, that EIP needs to send IDesign4U a 1099?

Expense after expense is a DT argument, IMO. ANYONE living in Ca with a $173K year income COULD afford ALL of his bills, PERIOD, in the area where he lived. There is NO doubt about that, sorry.

The warrants provide new information that describe Merritt as a convicted felon with an “extensive criminal record” who has “served multiple prison terms,” and who had racked up more than $50,000 in debt prior to the McStay family’s disappearance, including the $30,000 he owed Joseph McStay for gambling debts and $20,120.80 he owed the IRS for unpaid taxes.

Can you remind me or show me who or how they have verification about this 30K gambling debt that he owed Joey?

Actually it was JM's pocket that held the "keys," IMO

No, the $30K WAS from ATM withdrawls from Casinos.

I understand that we are talking about DK's mention of JM paying off CM's gambling debts.

However, SOMEONE posted (from testimony) that CM had withdrawal'ed 30K, over a year, from casinos.

Maybe we are talking about 2 different things?

That's entirely speculative on your part. If Jarvis decides to give an interview or takes the stand we will know how she felt/feels, otherwise, actually, it's not really any of our business.
Regardless if CJ testifies or not, hers would be a story I would be interested in knowing as well as purchasing. Perhaps then her children could be provided for and afforded an amends to what is likely a neglect situstion at best.
CM claimed a lot of debt but we have seen zero to support claims of child support or medical bills. @JMarsh do you believe parents who aren’t married require less of an obligation to support the children they create? If so why?

Exactly! My apologies as I was referring to CM being empty pockets and I agree that hopefully what JM’s key in pocket holds the key! (No pun intended)

BBM below in the post I was responding to...

oh my... I think there has been a misunderstanding here. I was using child support as an example of what they do with banks and what dead beat parents do when trying to avoid them. I did NOT mean to imply that this was the case, because we should all know that he was living with CJ and his children at the time. After him and CJ split, he still did not owe child support as far as we know, which indicates that it was not an issue IMO

Yes, anyone who paid him is required to issue 1099, as he is considered an independent contractor. Or if Chase was set up as a corporation, he would be paying corporate taxes.

So Joey should have provided Chase with that, right? So this should have been easy to figure out. We shouldn't need bank statements to figure it out.

That's untrue. There is documentation of his medical condition.
Link please because with all due respect I have never seen proof of this anywhere. I am growing older every day and this case among others can attest to the grey hairs I have earned. I will be around Lord willing and if you can link it I will Respond

Of his condition, not his heart attack or hospitalization. In the CNN interview with guy who went prospecting with him, Chase only told him he had a heart condition, nothing about a heart attack.
