Very true, I had my first of three strokes at age 26. It took several months for me to be able to match faces with names of friends and family. I also lost approximately a 2 year chunk of my memory. My condition has varied following each stroke and also following 2 heart attacks. I have learned not to expect my, or another's, condition to be identical subsequent to any medical catastrophe.

Really sorry to hear that you experienced this so young. That had to be very hard. I've worked with stroke victims, and it can devastate a life. You seem to be fully recovered now. Or at least mentally acute. But I agree, no two stroke victims have exactly the same reaction.

I am stalking the youtube page, will post when I see it :) I really want to watch it again... I was only half listening, and I should know by now not to take Cathy's tweets as truth either. She has one tweet that said she was talking about her cats and dogs, and I recall Smith saying she was talking to the cats and dogs in her yard during the interview. Sometimes one word changes the whole meaning of it LOL

I was also watching chat around that time because someone was claiming to be Chase's daughter... @geevee saw that I'm sure ;-) I was interested to see what she would say lol
You mean BOMBSHELL Cathy? Totally on board with that.:D

That is to young to have to deal with that :( I'm so sorry.

My Dad had a stroke. There are quirks... he has a hard time explaining them, but he doesn't even see numbers the same anymore :( (there was something else really weird that he had to ask the doc about, and was told it was from the stroke, at the moment can't remember what it is) He can still play the piano but no where near like he used to. His memory is not "right", he remembers things but will take things from 3 different times and make it 1 story. If you don't know the original story though, you would think it was the truth.

Thank you, I was a young mother who had been abandoned by her husband, at the time. It was a struggle, but also an opportunity to learn self reliance during an era when being a working female was not the norm. It has been 46 years since then and there have been many more life lessons. ;) My last heart attack was 15 months ago. It has slowed me down more than I like, but I'm still here...

I'm not sure how old? Back surgery and embolisms were around that time... I think???

Basically from what I can recall that she said was... she did not remember talking to the officer. Smith was pointed out to her, she said no, he was a much younger officer LOL She said she was not in her right mind at the time, she was on enough pain killers to make her drool.

I really want to listen to it again. I think it may have been the way Rodriquez worded the questions (going by Cathy's tweets).

I am not a pill popper... give me a tylenol with codeine and I'm out for 18 hours haha But I do have loved one's that have unfortunately needed strong pain meds after surgery/illness. If you have a medical background, I am not sure how you could say they would not have an impact on her memory and/or how coherent her statements are or were at the time. I get that we have no idea about the truthfulness of what she has said about the meds and when she was taking them, but that's not our job, that's the prosecutor's job, IMO they should have made sure, they should have asked more questions before they put her on the stand. That's my opinion based off of what I saw this afternoon. Smith seemed to acknowledge that she did just have surgery too, but says she seemed "fine". Fine to him means what?
Thanks. I need to see it. BBM. I never meant to imply that. Unsure how you came away with that?

46 yrs ago would have been a different world, medically and socially for you! Good to see you are still here... even if you are just a wee bit slower ;-) Gives you more time to be on WS's haha

Will do the same. Question is how much weight did the jury give to her testimony?
Her testimony coupled with his interrogation I think worked perfectly together. He kept talking about visiting his sister but came across as not confident in his delivery.

Chase demonstrated classic traits of lying.

I took notice of his posturing in the video. He has his left dominant hand over his mouth much of the time which is a common gesture of lying or trying to withhold information.

He also did the same thing during the CNN interview, held his other hand down in front groin, fingers outstretched. This would be subliminally to protect his manhood and keep authority over the conversation.

In the final clip shown, he totally shifts his posture. He is leaning back as if trying to project he's at ease but his knees and legs are pointed towards the door, or away from the detectives. This is a sign that he wants get out and now. He is feeling trapped and needs to leave. Whatever was said to him before that was quite effective.

There was one point where he was doing some weird itching.

I know there is more and I'll catch it once I rewatch. His speech and jumbled excuses are also telling imo. Iirc, there was a pause for him when they asked him how it was he was in VV on the 6th.

I totally understand what you are saying. I've experienced more lapses during the past 2 years. I "think" I'm saying the correct word or sentence, but the person I'm talking to will look perplexed and I find out that different words came out of my mouth. So glad your Dad has an understanding daughter, like you!

You are remarkable and inspiring. Sending lots of prayers that you stay safe and well.

A medical diagnosis of a stroke does not require a precription for pain pills. Although I do believe she hadn’t seen CM in 5 years, could CM have stolen medication from her to drug JM with without her knowledge? YES!!!
Addictive tendencies have a genetic component and we know CM had an addiction to gambling.
Maybe. But I really believe that he got his hands on some sort of drug, down in Tijuana. Considering there was a bank transaction down there, I think he went down there a LOT and not just for his Viagra, there's also gambling.
I think she's untruthful about being overly medicated. But it doesn't sound to me, that CM was a frequent visitor, anyway.

They went over the interview with her repeating what she told Smith. There were times she looked confused and Rodriguez had to show her the statements. She seemed to get many dates and years mixed up. I'm going to watch again from the beginning. Something was off about the whole testimony.
Yep, I think it was the witness who was "off." lol

This is why I do not understand how so many can be dismissive of the medical condition. I don't even care about the lying/not lying. But to say she was lying about her state of mind at the time and lying about being on pain meds, etc. I am somewhat perplexed. I guess not everyone has had a loved one go through something similar.

The stroke was just the beginning of what we have been through with my Dad... cancer, necrotizing fasciitis (flesh eating disease)... 1 1/2 years recovering... lots of pain meds... lots of memory loss for him, which is not a bad thing, it was very very bad.

Thinking back to when Joey was sick, do we know when that started, his symptoms, and did he go to a doctor for blood work? I wonder if the detectives looked into that?
As I recall, he went to the dr. a few times, even had a hospital stay. But I think any tests, were for physical/metabolic disorders and not suspected poisoning/drugging.

Thank you!! When the McStay family disappeared I was still working and contributed far more to the thread. My memory is not what it used to be and I really appreciate the hard working posters on this case. You keep me on my toes. :D
