So very sad for this family who lost their loved one. :( I hope John's family doesn't have to experience this.

The longer this goes on the more angry I get.

At least send a non-addressed postcard saying "I'm okay". Something, anything.

I'm with you on that one. Where are you, John?

John's NamUS profile is still very weak, only two stars. No DNA, dental or fingerprints on file. The Lands End photo is not mentioned. There is only one photo in the profile. I hope the family will gather the rest of the information needed to ID John if his remains are found. I can't imagine how difficult it is to face that possible reality, but it's best to have a complete file to speed up identification, if necessary. Also, on the off chance that he has amnesia, identifying him quickly would be very difficult without all the information needed.

Whenever I see John's page bumped up to the front I get excited to hear something new. Very quiet on all fronts. I wonder if the family knows anything. The last update on the Find John Beck Facebook page was April 1st. Some people have asked if there's any updates or if he's been found on May 1st, but no reply.

ETA - looks like the admins of the FB page have replied to some comments around April 10/11th but no other comments since then.

I've noticed the lack of updates too. And I've wondered if they have information they can't or prefer not to share. It's so sad. :(

Update on FB. The family says it's looking more and more like he harmed himself. :( While they still hope he is out there somewhere, they are coming to grips with his loss in their lives.

As we know, his disappearance apparently made their bankruptcy situation worse, so their loss is both personal and financial. I'm so sorry for them.

Thank you Lilibet for the update.

Very sorry for the family.

That just makes me so angry, to leave his wife, children to pick up the pieces and carry this horrible burden. Just so selfish...

I saw this link on another thread (Pearl Pinson) http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...RT-Pearl-Pinson-15-Vallejo-25-May-2016/page25 .

When I saw the map, I thought about John. It is in close proximity to Alameda. I guess time will tell.
That's awful for whoever it is. If it is John I wonder where the folder is.....

That makes me think about something. If John had dove off of the GG bridge having his folder on him, it would float back up to the surface. I dont think he is in the water.

I still think he may be living hidden somewhere.

I really waffle a lot on whether John committed suicide or is living somewhere. Neither solution helps his family. It makes the bankruptcy more complicated. But I don't suppose either one is really a rational decision. I think suicide would be easier to accomplish than living hidden somewhere. He would need help for the latter, I would imagine. But anything is possible. It's fairly easy to disappear in remote places like Humboldt county four hours north.

As I recall, LE ruled out a GG bridge suicide. If he had entered the water near Land's End or somewhere else in the Bay Area I think he or his folder would have been found by now. Land's End was thoroughly searched by the Marin SAR from sea and on land. If he committed suicide by hanging, the folder would help identify him. But it can be surprisingly hard to find someone hanging in deep woods, for example. Dogs can miss someone. And there are other methods. For example, IF Cheryl DeBoer of Seattle committed suicide, it was in broad daylight, in a large drainage pipe with a plastic bag over her head, by drowning in a small amount of water and asphyxiation from the bag. Again, anything is possible.

John's family needs answers. I hope they come.

You know Lillibet, your comment made me think....I don't think we have discussed this and if we have please forgive me.

Could John be "hiding out" for the sole purpose to make the bankruptcy take longer and to buy time for his wife to be able to make some other arrangements for living? Could it possibly give her another 4-5 years since he cannot be found?

Just a thought!
