I have to say, the number of hours of search don’t seem super high to me—but this can be for a lot of reasons.
Jolissa is not a minor, and there isn’t evidence of foul play yet, so it’s not easy to mobilize massive search resources.
I know the family had some folks out there with drones etc. I am actually looking at satellite images now, to see if i can see anything (not likely, but I’m new to it) but it does seem like the search effort is not professionally organized and could stand to be a whole lot stronger.
I wonder if the seemingly low number of search hours has to do with the sighting the police are not sharing. Why are they keeping it secret? It just doesn’t make any sense to me to not share the last known location and time of sighting of a missing person; can anyone think of a case where this has happened before?

Have there been sightings?

Have there been sightings?
This is all I've seen on the subject. Evidently LE has additional footage after the AMPM, but are not saying anymore about it.

Per the article:
Selma Police Chief Rudy Alcaraz told Fox News: “We picked her up on camera after that. However, we’re not going to relinquish that information, as we…have to kind of consider all avenues,” he said. “Right now, there’s nothing that is insinuating foul play, but, again, we don’t have much information.”

I couldn’t agree more. I am starting to think that this tendency to not release details (so they can prosecute if a crime was committed) is really ultimately hampering search efforts for missing persons whom we would like to see come home alive.
I am not LE, but I have family who are and we actually agree that now that there are legions of searchers willing to help, they might wanna loosen the grip just enough to allow volunteers to take on some of the work of the searches, and we need to know where to look to best help this family bring home their girl.

I am very curious about this. What would be the reason not to release or even state where they picked Jolissa up on camera after the AMPM? Was someone with her? Does the video only show the car but not clear enough to see who is in the car? It seems to me she may not have been alone or they could see she was being followed but they can not identify the person or persons. MOO

Yep, I have the same questions. And as @getthefax points out above, wouldn't this info help direct the search efforts rather than a search in the blind. I don't get it. You've got volunteer searchers, why not utilize them to maximum efficiency?

The only time I’ve personally seen this happen was when baylee despot went missing, and then years later the police issued an arrest warrant for her for being an accomplice to murder (she is still missing)

My apologies if this has been mentioned before but do we know how Jolissa typically spends her days? Did she have a job? Was she a student?
Ok, on Facebook her sister responded to a comment that she (Jolissa) typically goes to work, comes home and takes a nap before getting together with friends for a bit then comes home and goes to sleep. Just posting in case anyone else had the same question I did.

I've always been really surprised that AWP was called out to this case so soon. I know she's been missing for almost a month but it just seemed weird that they were called in already. Why it was assumed she was in water almost immediately? Did they check every single neighborhood, business parking lot, or side street between her house and where her phone pinged? Also, all heavily wooded areas or any steep drop offs that she would have driven past. I just think maybe her car is sitting somewhere, on land, waiting to be found. I can't say I believe one theory or another. This is a very strange situation. It seems she was under the influence the night she went missing. She also had plans to smoke. Mixing the two can have some really horrible side effects. Car accident? Foul play? Self harm? There's really just not enough information out there. I hope that she is ok wherever she is and that she reaches out to family so they can stop worrying about her.

Because it was one of a distinct possibilities, I think. And, as you can see from Kiely's case it's better to have really well trained people for underwater searches.

I get that but according to the available information…LE hasn’t spent a significant amount of time searching for her so she COULD be anywhere. The water wouldn’t be my first guess. They need to be getting a large ground crew to search. Not water. JMO.

"I think she was just out really late and something bad happened," Fuentes' sister, Irene Fuentes, told MEAWW. "I have no clue. I wish I did, but I don't. I spoke to her at 12 am, a few hours before she went missing. I video called her on Facebook and she answered and told me she was with her friends and would call me later."

"I would describe Jolissa as the funniest person ever. She had a big heart. She loved all her family and friends and children. She loved music. She was not shy or quiet. Everyone loves her," Irene said. "Me and her are three years apart. I'm her big sister. Mine and her bond is like no other. We're best friends. I would take her to hangout with my friends and she'll take me to hangout with hers. We were as close as sisters can be."

“I would like to tell the police I wish they would try their hardest. Try as hard as if Jolissa was one of their own daughters or sisters. I feel they don't put a lot of effort into looking for her. I only see me and my family when I'm out searching for her," she said.

"I wish law enforcement would do a lot more. I know they can follow the cameras or do something. They aren't trying their hardest," she added. Meanwhile, Internet sleuths have come together to form a Facebook group called 'Find Jolissa Fuentes', where they have been sharing clues, ideas, and praying for Fuentes' safe return.

I appreciate the general public," Irene said. "They have been more helpful than the police have been. Always sharing her pictures and posts and helping my family out whether it be with flyers or bringing us waters and even praying for us. I appreciate everyone so much. I just wanna thank you and everyone else who has been trying to help. I appreciate everyone."
I was surprised that JF's sister used the past tense when talking about her.

I noticed that right away. It gave me pause… perhaps she has frightening undisclosed intel. She’s an Admin here:

AWP was already on the West Coast, and so if they were going to do the underwater search this might have been a good time to do it and rule out the two water sites that LE had identified earlier as possibilities. JMO.

The other case they are supposed to be helping with after Kiely is a woman named Annette Adams. I searched for info about her and was shocked she went missing where I live last year; I’ve NEVER seen her face or heard about her case until just now. There’s literally no information out there about her other than she went missing in San Luis Obispo- I have no idea what water AWP would search for her in here. There’s 3 lakes nearby but none are in slo (Lopez lake in Arroyo Grande, Santa Margarita Lake in Santa Margarita and Lake Naciemento in Paso Robles) and there’s the ocean. It’s so odd to me

I do not disagree at all, but according to locals there is very little chance of her being in the rivers because the water is too low for her car to be submerged and now that we know she's not in the lakes, she is most likely hidden by vegetation and trees above or right next to the water rather than inside it fully. Even with a drone, even with a helicopter, it would be extremely difficult to spot her or the car, let alone accessible enough for people to search on foot due to all of the obstructions.
i grew up around there, yes there sure is a lot of vegetation.

What can you tell us about the gang culture in Selma/Sanger/surrounding areas? Do people just disappear over there often? Do you know what kind of things typically warrant some kind of retaliation or potential foul play like this?
