Found Alive CA - Joshua Thiede, 29, Los Angeles, 11 Feb 2018

 • #261
I had tea in the area tonight so drove by both the address where Josh’s car was found and where paramedics picked him up. I scoped out the area fairly well. Here are my observations:

- There was a homeless man settled in for the night on the corner of Kingsley and 1st Street. Southwest corner. He had a lot of stuff with him and was fairly well spread out. My feeling is that he only sets up there at night and regularly. If it hadn’t been 8:30pm and pitch black out, I’d have gotten out to show him a photo and chat with him. I have a hunch he’d have seen Josh. We have homeless folks living in our area and they generally set up in the same place at night.

- There is a YMCA on the corner of Oxford Street and 3rd Street. This is very close to both where Josh was found and where his car was found. Sort of between the two, but closer to the Serrano address. Was a he member? He could have used it to shower, etc. Most YMCA memberships in LA allow you to use all branches in the area. I know because I belong to one.

- There is a house across the street from the Kingsley address that looks like a party house. There was a dodgy young guy in a hoodie pacing on the porch. I definitely got a strange hit from that one house. I sat and watched it for a while.

- At night those streets can seem like a maze at night with some brightly lit and full of big apartment buildings while others are pitch black and are laced with small houses with big front porches.

That’s all I’ve got.

MOO.

Thank you. I say this all the time, but Lawd.... I love the lengths sleuthers are willing to go for some inside info! It makes me smile so much! Rock on, sister sleuth!

Good point! Why did she not immediately get on a plane to look for her son?
Did she grant a lot of interviews in the last 24 hours?
Because Inside Edition is the only one I'm aware of <modsnip>

Sounds to me like a bloodhound found him!
IMO
"When the alarm was blaring, I looked out. I saw about seven or eight police officers, somewhere in that number, doing an investigation, with a bloodhound in the car. The bloodhound went in. The bloodhound went out. And then the bloodhound walked around a bit," said witness Ross Stracke."

According to the Fox 11 report I shared earlier it was a citizen who noticed him because of the news coverage and called it in.

Dogs were used on the car according to the witness interviewed in that same Fox 11 video.

I heard a snippet of a radio news program on KFI 640 in LA this afternoon that said he didn’t know where he’d been the last few days.

Does anyone else remember the recent case, very similar to this. Cannot remember the young man's name, but he had a lot in common with JT. They were about the same age, same look, handsome young men from Los Angeles.

This young man was a successful film editor, IIRC, and he went missing one day, and it got a lot of publicity. He was young, handsome, successful, ---he just vanished.

A week later he was found in a Mexican resort, after doing a lot cocaine, coronas and weed. He came home kind of sheepishly....

I think this might have been a similar situation. Which might be why Mom was concerned, but hadn't flown out here yet, because she might have known this could be the outcome?

Add mt this tea distribution list. Showering this morning was a chore...

Could have he really had the flu? Possible reaction to Tamiflu? I’ve heard some crazy stories about that drug.

My thoughts exactly. I’m just now catching up but THIS. I would love to know if he was on tamiflu. I have seen first hand the absolute crazy it can cause on certain individuals. It can make you completely out of it and off the wall crazy!

You put your bloodhound in...you put your bloodhound out...you put your bloodhound in and you shake it all about....

Just so glad he was found alive. As in many of our cases, we will probably never get the whole story, but I also know our sleuthers hit on the truth, no matter which one it is. I wish him peace, joy and happiness.

I do not in any way believe the story that he was drugged by someone and wandered aimlessly around the streets of Koreatown for a week. LE has clearly stated that this isn’t a criminal matter. Drugging someone against their will is criminal. I think he either has a well kept drug problem or he’s been battling mental illness and had a particularly bad episode. All JMO, of course.

I believe someone referenced this case early on when JT went missing. That guy admitted he had a major drug problem. I don't think he did it for publicity/attention, but who knows. I looked him up & he seems to be back on track.

RSBM

Also just putting it out there, but young people can have complicated, even fraught, relationships with their mothers. It can be hard to get free of those apron strings: her tendency to worry, to have very high expectations for your success, etc.

Completely agree.

As far as plausible scenarios, the idea that he may have gone on an epic party/drug bender is hard to believe because someone doing uppers (cocaine, meth) becomes more impulsive/energetic and would not be able to make it a week without his mobile device. Also in the party drug binge scenario the last thing a bunch of tweakers would want with them is the dude that all of Los Angeles is looking for.

There's no chance that he was arrested or put on a 5150 by LAPD and a glitch in the paperwork or the system didn't match him to the missing persons report; right?

There was a call to 911 just before he disappeared, right? Have we figured out how this all plays in to the sequence of events?

The 911 call was the day after he was last seen, on Monday Feb12.

Yes that call is still a mystery (as is almost everything in this story). I hope they will reveal at least part of it.

Hmmmm, have any of you been following the case about the firefighter who went missing from NY and showed up a week later in California? Still dressed in ski gear, including his ski boots and helmet.. talk about a head scratcher. What's the deal with these guys going missing, then found not knowing what happened to them? Been a few if these lately.

A Toronto firefighter who mysteriously went missing while on a ski trip to upstate New York has been found "alive and in good health" in California, New York State Police say:
