“She was last seen in our community by two–well, three neighbors. One was the old guy who said around 6:30 [a.m.] and then two other neighbors said 7:30 [a.m.].”
Exactly. I hope we will have a resolution someday. How can a young girl just disappear without a trace? No clues, just nothing. I’ve been following this case from the start. I hope this is solved one day.
This is an earlier post, but I think it's worth revisiting. What Keithcandy said is true. Karlie's case has not gotten the attention that it should have gotten, from both the media and LE. It feels very deliberate, IMO. No doubt part of the reason is that missing teenagers are not given the same attention or priority as younger children who go missing, because teenagers are often presumed to be runaways. However, there is another reason, which I won't get into here, but if you've read my previous posts, you'll probably be able to guess. While they say that her disappearace has gone national, there have been zero deeper looks into her disappearance. Why? If you look in my previous posts youll see ive done research in regards to interviews and karlie herself,if anyone finds anything else please let me know.
How far back are these posts? I’m curious to know the other reason. This is an earlier post, but I think it's worth revisiting. What Keithcandy said is true. I highly doubt there was any piece of paper, and that MG just used that as another distraction tool.In a now-deleted Facebook comment, Karlie's stepmother, whom I will refer to by the initials MG, stated that when she brought Karlie home and for a few hours before she went to bed, Karlie was writing on a piece of paper, but would not let her stepmom see what she was writing. Two of the "eyewitnesses" said that the female they saw walking that morning was carrying a piece of paper. When Karlie's mother Lindsay arrived at the Guse residence in the afternoon after Karlie went missing, she was told by MG about the piece of paper that the witnesses saw the girl holding. Lindsay asked MG what the paper would be, and the stepmother replied that Karlie had a form for her counseling sessions that she was adamant about turning in on time; Lindsay didn't buy that, because it was a Saturday morning. MG did not mention the paper in any of her Facebook Live videos, in the interview for Nancy Grace's podcast a few weeks later, or in any other interviews from that time. It was only brought up on Dr. Phil because he mentioned it, and MG confirmed that "Karlie" was seen holding a piece of paper that morning but didn't elaborate. In the People Investigates documentary, it was mentioned that witnesses reported seeing someone supposedly matching Karlie's description holding a piece of paper. The only other mention of the paper was when MG stated that when she supposedly stayed in Karlie's room that night, at 5:45 am, Karlie was still awaking "writing and doodling on a piece of paper" and MG said she dozed off at around 6 am and when she awoke at 7:15 am, Karlie was "gone". She did not seem to attach any importance or significance to the piece of paper or what Karlie was writing in that interview.
In early November 2018, a volunteer ground search was conducted; MG and the volunteer search coordinator asked the volunteers to keep an eye out for the piece of paper and stressed that it was important.
The piece of paper is another strange part of this case. What was written on the piece of paper, and was it important or not?
MOO

It's scary and sad at the same time, but it happens more often than you think. The area she lived in at the time was somewhat remote and there were mountains and wilderness surrounding the lonely stretches of highway. I thought similar until I saw an aerial view of the neighborhood and surrounding areas. There are sadly too many places where a teenager who may have been under the influence of drugs could wander to and eventually get lost and have no way to find their way back. How can a young girl just disappear without a trace? The surrounding area was searched that night and over the next several days, using night radar, etc. The whole "Karlie died in the desert" thing was a scam. Mountain lions in that area are tracked and they were ruled out. It's scary and sad at the same time, but it happens more often than you think. Since they never found her there or anywhere else, IDK if calling it a "scam" is accurate because we don't know. There's numerous areas she could've gotten into that radar wouldn't have covered. While I'm with you that LE did an extensive search, since she wasn't found anywhere I don't think you can really say that a particular theory is totally ruled out.The surrounding area was searched that night and over the next several days, using night radar, etc. The whole "Karlie died in the desert" thing was a scam. It could've been that MG thought it was important but in reality it was just her writing/doodling/scribbling due to her drug-induced situation. If she was experiencing some type of medical situation due to the marijuana she admittedly smoked with DA and friends the night before and was incoherently rambling about how people are going to kill her, the paper could've been just random ramblings that Karlie thought had some significance but weren't rooted in reality. It was only brought up on Dr. Phil because he mentioned it, and MG confirmed that "Karlie" was seen holding a piece of paper that morning but didn't elaborate. I remember having to read a few books about the brothel industry for a criminality and deviance class. The industry is a lot more regulated than you'd think for a bunch of 'ranches' on remote highway stretches of Nevada. If she was in Tonopah in 2021, I would have to think that she was working in one of the legal brothels along that trucking route in Nevada. As creepy as they are, they do know the rules about verifying ages of their workers, so I don't think she would have ended up working there for 3 years underaged, as she looks very young.
This is an extremely interesting theory - never thought about it before. Great point! It's even possible she wrote something more urgent on the paper like "HELP ME" etc. which could get passersby to stop quicker than the traditional thumb sticking out gesture to hitchhike. Had she written something like that on the paper, that could be why she held it close to her and refused to show anyone - which I'm guessing was your pointBased on the information presented by the People Magazine Investigates program, my speculation is that Karlie was experiencing a psychotic break due to ...? She was afraid to stay at her boyfriend's and was literally running down the road away from his place. She was afraid of her stepmother and verbalized that on a recording made of her by the stepmother. Three different witnesses saw Karlie walking down the street with a piece of paper in her hand. She had changed clothes and was headed in the direction of the highway.
My theory is that the piece of paper was a hitchhiking sign so to speak. She appeared to feel unsafe and desperately wanted to get away, it seems to me. Someone in a vehicle helped her do that.
Was she murdered? Did she OD?
I doubt she is still alive. I would love to be wrong about that.
