+1. And if any fingerprints are on it that are not hers.I'm very curious about the location of the phone. Doesn't mean much if it was found in the vehicle, but could be significant if it is not.
If it was 16 days in water, is there still a chance those would be preserved?+1. And if any fingerprints are on it that are not hers.

What you say is very true, but to me, LE could take a closer look at them during questioning. They could all be ruled out but to me it's something. MOOThere is one thousand of totally innocent reasons someone might hold Kiely's phone. Like, she was carrying drinks in both hands, so someone else carried her phone, she asked someone to snap a pic, she dropped a phone, someone picked it up, she wanted to show someone else something funny in the net. and so on and so on. I would not put much weight on the fingerprints on her phone.
Good thought, but what is the probability that anyone, much less everyone, who may have touched Kiely's phone, would have fingerprints on file? Unless they have previously been charged with a crime, it is unlikely that LE would be able to match any fingerprint found on Kiely's phone to anyone, unless California has some law that I am unaware of. Well, IIRC there was talk of a lot of older guys in attendance so maybe there could be prints on file. I doubt most teens would have prints on file though.Good thought, but what is the probability that anyone, much less everyone, who may have touched Kiely's phone, would have fingerprints on file? I know, but it still makes me sad that they didn’t look out for her a little bit. If she was that drunk and weirdos were at the party, they could have just made her get in the car with them and take her back home.It also seems very unfair to expect a teen who was at a party for a few minutes to be responsible for another teen.
We have no way of knowing if Kiely may have been drinking prior to the party. She may have been. We do know Mags was uncomfortable with the guys aggressively in her face with bongs, so she may have just found her boyfriend and said "You know what? I'm out of here, not my thing."
She might be a quieter person, and the other girls more into parties.
JMO.
There was some discussion about the punctuation in Kiely’s text to her mom being a bit off. Aside from that, teens being teens - they grew up texting. I am waaay older than them and can still pull off drunk texting pretty well. (Though I still cringe about who I sent them to and their content the next morning).Been lurking around this case. But not really participated. There are a couple things bothering me, maybe they’ve been discussed and I missed them?
First, if Kiely was as drunk, or otherwise impaired, as some have indicated, how did she create and send a text to her mom that sounded reasonable and rational? JMO. It seems if she was this far out of it, she may have many texting errors. Also, I wonder if she’d even think to request a curfew extension.
Second, does anyone know if Kiely was known to drive without her seatbelt? If not, could she have had the dexterity to undo her seatbelt? If she did not, is it possible for a body to come out of the seatbelt on its own?
I’m leaning towards a very unfortunate accident. But, I’m not convinced she was extremely drunk or otherwise impaired. All JMO.

That’s why I was so astounded in the first few days Keily was missing. Young people who were not responsible enough to make sure their friend was ok at a party were expected to be responsible enough to lead search parties and be at the forefront at press conferences.

That’s a good point, and one I had not considered. In a way, I would like to imagine that’s how her final hours of life went down. Perhaps she refused a ride, was tipsy, but happy and giddy, feeling fiercely independent, ready to take on the world as a young adult. Driving, singing along with the tunes in her car, just a sudden tragic accident that happened quickly, not terribly painful, and was over in the blink of an eye.Whoever drove SS home, assuming they were sober, it would have been really nice if they had brought Kiely home, all left together, I agree.
The other thing is, we don't know if anyone DID offer her a ride. It could have been suggested and refused, and we will never know? I think Kiely sounds like she was a pretty strong willed/independent person, even if she was a little younger? It's hard to guess at the dynamic between the group of friends, since all we really have to go on is what people have said in remembrance.

I have no idea if she did, and am thinking she probably didn't, but it is possible that she dictated the texts, in which case, all she would have had to do was tap the microphone in text, and start speaking. JMORSBM for focus.
I mentioned above (currently posts #342, 347 & 349) about fingerprints not hers potentially being on her phone. It's for exactly what you mention. Sending texts that sounded unbuzzed (my word, not yours nor Webster's. lol) and asking for an extension. Someone, other than Kiely, asking for an extension for time to deal with 'things' that got out of hand? I don't know... I'm just hoping her phone is found and there's some sort of evidence on it. For anyone following the Gabby Petito case that's what it's presumed what her fiancé, Brian Laundry did. Used her phone to text Gabby's mom, pretending Gabby was still alive.
Would that be able to decipher speaking "cursive" (that's a reference to what the salon owner where Anne Heche bought her red wig calls "sounding drunk and slurring"). That's a serious question. I remember years ago where there was some system that would email you what it believed someone's voicemail said. I got one from the catering department where I worked and it was something about "a nasty turkey sandwich" or the like. I was cracking up! OBVIOUSLY the person leaving the VM did not call their sandwich nasty, but the automatron thought it did!I have no idea if she did, and am thinking she probably didn't, but it is possible that she dictated the texts, in which case, all she would have had to do was tap the microphone in text, and start speaking.
