Found Deceased CA - Kiely Rodni missing from Party Near Prosser Family Campground in Truckee #8

Graph showing surface surface water level lowering change- 3.5 ft total from 8/6-8/21. We accepted that this would reflect in a 25 foot wider beach on the date Kiely went missing than it was on date of recovery. The Nevada County Sheriff told us that.

If we use the same reasoning for calculating the effect on width/depth of beach, the 6.5 foot additional reduction in surface level would equate to over 46 feet, making the car less than 12 feet off the waterline of the beach now. The beach would be 73 feet broader. That’s not right.
And it doesn’t seem so from what I’ve seen in video’s. IMO.
How far out was the laptop found?
We didn’t consider the ground elevation of the beach or slope, maybe? Although from what I’ve seen it doesn’t seem pronounced IMO.
Or the Sheriff guessed the 25 foot difference and we ran with it?
Doug said it was really sticky mud. The water looks crystal clear even at the shore line. I still don’t understand why no tire tewad marks were visible the first or second day. It’s not rocky and there is no current flowing as far as I can see.

55 feet offshore where the car was found is roughly 27 steps. 27 steps.
This is so tragic and unfathomable.

My question is Does this mean Roadside Nick identified the car's license plate and that it took place on the Saturday after the party ?

Who was the "guy" with her that the RA witnessed??? How long after Nick the RA realized it was Kiely did LE question the "guy"with her if they have ever found him? Why didn't this"guy" go to LE with this information himself. Why did it have to take the RA to inform LE and the "guy" stayed quiet? If I'm not mistaken? ALL MOO.

Nick did not confirm that it was Kiely. In his closing, Doug jumped to a dramatic conclusion, unsubstantiated during the ostensibly spontaneous interview.
I know there’s a way to bring that perfect post over but I don’t know how.

What stands out in a hair raising way is Roadside Nick’s description of how the young woman asked how to loop or thread the seatbelt fastener through her pants belt into locked position.
How weird is that?
At first glance, I thought that was a peculiar disoriented reality issue. Now I don’t know what to think.

If the windows on the vehicle weren't covered/secured before removing the car from water, it is completely feasible that items inside the car could have floated out.

Amateur opinion and speculation

I agree, tbh I think it is inevitable things would come out - really shocked a LE diver did not go in to collect things (ie potential evidence!) - seems such a rookie oversight, wonder what AWP thinks of it as I would assume they would have offered to do this if needed!

As TKG said, it is a long video.
I listened for a while - someone asked Doug of AWP if the Roadside asst Nick 's
story regarding the car license plate # was confirmed and
Doug said, "it was all confirmed". It had been confirmed within "hours".
Then he was asked about Saturday and he agreed that it was on Saturday.
But then he was vague about details and said he couldn't answer any more about it.
Soon someone asked if the girl Nick saw was actually K .
Doug didn't answer that directly.
Doug said that the odd behavior of the girl and guy not standing near each other
(e.g. if he came near her, she would go to other side of car ),
and her questions about a seat belt
may have been a tactic to prevent Nick from walking toward the rear of the
car and looking in and from seeing what was in the back
........
It seemed to me that he gave a blanket confirmation of Nick's (roadside asst)
story but I would feel more confident if he just verbalized that yes it was
her license plate and more details.

LE said that they received the footage from the RA company. Nick said he spoke to the detective. This has been confirmed. It has been discussed in thread 7 I believe. Plus everything would be logged, he would have to check to make sure he vehicle belonged to Kiely before he could do anything to help her which is standard practice for towing companies (for obvious reasons.) MacBridey in post #754 has kindly found what I would use to corroborate what Nick the RA said.

A few weird tips before she was found, there were more but they didn't seem relevant now.

The day after she was found, someone called the police to follow up on a tip about their boyfriend. They had already suspected him, but I guess after her body was found they felt he was behaving even more suspiciously.

And we have the report for Kiely's belongings being found.

I didn't get a confident feeling from Doug of AWP 's response, "it was all confirmed" to a question of whether it was confirmed that Road asst Nick
serviced K's actual car.
He didn't give any details and that leaves me unsettled
But I felt it was a very helpful video in other ways. And he is great.

I actually was monitoring the NCSO daily logs every day for a while and then gave up. Very tedious reading! Too many deer reported injured on the side of roads.

Anyhow, I did scour the 8/4-8/8 (?) period quite closely and saw NOTHING related to KR's case from what I could tell.

But recall, the NCSO took over from PCSO when KR's car was found in their county, 8/21. But even on that date there is NOTHING about AWP finding KR. So I wonder if some entries in these logs are redacted if related to an ongoing investigation. Anyone know?

And I cannot recall if I was as diligent on the PCSO daily logs for that initial period. But like you I think I missed the window once I realized their earlier role

Of course i don't doubt the Roadside Assitant's account but I have some thoughts on her cellphone. Its confirmed her cellphone last pinged by Prosser Lake the evening of the party. i believe it pinged at 11:33pm or 12:33am (I don't remember the exact time right now.) Then if the RA assisted with her vehicle then wouldn't her phone also ping there where the RA assisted her and the guy she was with? IMO it should. I wonder what LE makes of that? IMO that may be a doozy to entertain such a confusing element. What to make of that?????

It wouldn't ping if it was left at the campground from the previous night, right?

Everything gets a bit strange trying to sort out, so let's break it down:

Option 1: It was Kiely, and she left her cellphone at the party location, OR the cellphone really was completely dead/intentionally turned off/destroyed somehow and still with her. (i.e. things break.)

Option 2: Not Kiely, and the cellphone was thrown in the lake or otherwise disposed of when whatever happened to Kiely happened.

Person does not equal same location as cellphone.

This goes for anyone in this case, IMO.

It's pretty easy to have a spare cellphone, maybe a prepaid burner or something one no one knows about. Do I think that is likely for any of the partygoers, considering ages? Probably not. But you never know.

I want to know if she had a phone charger with her in the car.

What is strange to me, is my understanding about iPhones is they charge rapidly, especially in a car.

My sister has one, and I've been out with her while she has plugged it in, and it charges much faster than my (not iPhone) phone does.

So....if SS and Kiely were going back to the CRV to charge phones--which sounds like they did at least once, possibly more in SS interviews, I have two questions:

-How the heck did Kiely's phone die at 12:03 and then again at 12:33 (and turn on to contact SS at 12:36?) and then the same phone is dead again less than 12 hours later when Roadside Nick possibly encounters Kiely?

-What were SS and Kiely doing to run down the phones? Videos? Pictures? Texting mom and the ex bf a couple of times doesn't kill your battery? Or it shouldn't.
