Linda Kathleen Eveland, 24, was found in a trash bin in South Carlsbad on 21 February 1987. Linda worked as a topless dancer at Dirty Dan's at 939 North Coast Highway in Oceanside (near Camp Pendleton). Police allege that Linda was a known prostitute, although her family denies this. Linda's family does admit that she had a drug problem - crystal meth. Linda lived in Encinitas near the interchange of Leucadia Boulevard and I-5. Linda had four tattoos.
Linda was killed in her own home, which police called a shack. She was strangled, raped, and beaten with a piece of wood. Her body was mutilated, including with a pentagram, possibly to look like a "Satanic" killing and to throw off the police. The killer used Linda's car to drive her to the trash bin in South Carlsbad near the Palomar Airport Road and I-5. Linda's body was covered with her own belongings, including a flag with a swastika on it. Linda's body was nude except for thigh high red stockings and her bra, which strangled her neck. Linda's boyfriend was interviewed and passed a lie detector test.
It seems possible that Linda's connections to shady people - be they drug dealers, Johns, or Neo-Nazis, may have gotten her killed.
