CA CA - Linda Sohus, 28, San Marino, 8 February 1985

She probably doesn't realize she was kidnapped.
Unless her mother explains it to her and lets her know that daddy wasn't supposed to take her like that..... but then again, at her age some kids are pretty smart and figured things like that out. Especially when police come in and "find you".

I think "Snook" knows what happen, as I seen early that the police were going to question her about those days with her father. Sorry no link at this time, but did read it yesterday somewhere....
Oh I agree, they'll question her. PS. Mouth off about what? You're sharing your opinion!!

Maybe the dollar???

I think before this is over with, most likely our questions will be answered.

What a GREAT movie this would be, would ya say??

Is this what you mean by "mouth off"?? LOL, Knox, that is not mouthing off at all, you must have been a wonderful teenager!

So the Sohus disappearance was in 1985 and the first know residence for Clark Rockefeller was in NYC in 1991. So 6 years in between ( if Clark is Christopher).

The faux Rockefeller is a con man. What do con men do? They select a mark, take as much as they can from them. Since he had an easy life, he didn't move on from this marriage until Sandra forced him to. He had money, camoflauge protection of a wife and child and the trappings of wealth. True he was paranoid about photos or someone finding out who he was but he had his mark wrapped up and he had plenty of others he could con in various ways.

OK, so it looks like the guy is a kidnapper, has no social security number, a bunch of fake names, he may be connected to a murder, has money from who knows where and he bought a house with a pile of cash. Oh yeah, he may also be an illegal alien from Germany.
Geesh, I once made a small error on my taxes and the government was all over me for $73.

I am bringing this post over that I had left on the Amber Alert thread. It is essentially a summary of the connections between the CA missing person(s)/murder case and "Clark".

"Knoxx, that sitcomsonline link was interesting. If that is the unsolved murder case that is going to get linked to our "Clark", then this is going to be fascinating. The case involves the unsolved disappearance of a Jonathan Sohus and his wife Linda (maiden name of Mayfield??) who disappeared from their home in San Marino, California in 1985. Some family members were told that they were going to be travelling to work on some "secret government mission". There was another man involved who is also a missing person, and probably the one LE thinks has now been found in the person of "Clark". In 1985, the missing person was named Christopher Chichester and claimed to be from Germany. Notice the last name of "Chichester" is a homophone (words that sound alike but are spelled differently) for "Shyster". Anyway, this Chichester guy tried to sell the truck of Jonathan Sohus in Connecticut a few months after they disappeared. Postcards from Europe were received by family members from Linda for a while, but then nothing - no phone calls, and no further communication. In 1994, the house that Jonathan and Linda had lived in was undergoing some construction in the backyard by the current owners, and the bones of an adult male were found buried in three plastic bags. The bones are generally believed to be those of Jonathan. So....did Chichester murder Jonathan and Linda? Did Linda or Chichester murder Jonathan and then both of them run off to Europe for a while? Where the heck is Steve Huff. We need him on this case!!!!"

If this one doesn't end up as a movie script, Hollywood has become too stoned to recornize a good story when it bites them in the azz!

The trio - John, Linda, "Christopher."

Who was the murderer, Linda or Christopher? or both?

But they say the bones haven't been positively id'd as John's.
So, is it John or is it Linda's bones?

If they are John's, and if Linda is dead as well, where are hers?

If the fake Clark Rockefeller is Christopher Chichester they're not his bones.

Or did John assume Clark/Christopher's name after whatever with his wife then change his name later?

The thing is that there are so many possibilities here.

Oh, yes! But since LE ran the fingerprints and they seem to be truly matching Clark/Christopher then that leaves one of the other two being the bones. Question is, did Linda accompany Christopher/Clarke to Europe and remain there out of touch with her family, out of fear of prosecution, or did she also end up as bones either before she went to Europe or after?

But when did LE get the comparsion prints? At the time of the disappearance or at the time the car was found? Remember fingerprints are not usually on file unless the person gives them for a job or when arrested for a crime.

If he was questioned about the car and agreed to leave his prints before he ran, then they would have prints for whatever name he had ID for.

The prints were on an application in the alias of Christopher Chichester.

Well, there goes that theory then! Thanks Molly.

You're welcome! Now the mystery is, who's the bones? And where is the other half of the missing married couple?

If this guy is this German "Strieder" referenced, is that really his name or another alias?

Well, they are saying the bones appear to be male.

Here is my take on what happened (and it DOES sound like a movie script). Christopher Shyster (ooopss - ChiChiester), befriended John Sohus and his wife Linda. He convinced them that he was a highly placed government spy on a secret mission - to locate two other "normal" American's for a top secret mission in Europe. At some point, without Linda's knowledge, he killed, dismembered (how else do you explain THREE plastic bags of bones), and buried John in the back yard. He convinvced Linda that John had been called up early for his "assignment" in Europe. (This is where it gets a bit fuzzy, and I wish LE would give us more details about the timeline of the Shous case.) There are two possible scenario's here: 1. "Christopher" convinced Linda it was time for her to join John in Europe, and he sent her on her way - alone. Not very likely IMHO. or 2. Christopher and Linda began a trip from California to Connecticut - in John's truck. Upon arrival in Connecticut, Christopher sold the truck (thus, the fingerprint evidence we are now dealing with). We KNOW that Christopher was ALONE when he sold the truck - no sign of Linda. This does NOT mean she was dead - she could have been in a Motel 6 under the name of Helga, enjoying her new found identity as a top secret government spy travelling with another top secret government spy, on their way to meet John in Europe. (I bet they don't have motel receipts from 1985 in Connecticut today - dang it!!!) Anyway, at some point, Linda and Christopher get to Europe, and he somehow uses Linda for cash until the well runs dry. He gets her to send post cards back home (or perhaps she did this on the sly by herself???) until he kills her and buries her in an ancient European ruin somewhere. (I TOLD you it sounded like a movie script!!!). He then becomes a "Shyster" under a different name until he has gathered enough funds to return to the North Eastern US and meet his new wife in 1993. And then you have the beginning of the closing saga we are now in the middle of - the one where internet entities try to decipher the logic of a life long gone. Thanks guys, for letting me think and brainstorm out loud. You guys and gals are the best ANYWHERE!!!

San Marino police said there were two residents of the Lorain Road home on whom missing persons reports were filed in 1985--Jonathan Sohus and his wife, Linda Sohus, in their late 20s. The coroner's office said it had not been determined whether the victim was a man or a woman.

The man--no one remembers much about him--was living there when Jonathan married Linda.

"Johnny said they were going somewhere for a job interview and then to Europe for a delayed honeymoon," Kent said. "They just disappeared."

"They never got to the airport," Morck said. "DiDi kept asking everyone if they'd seen Jonathan. No one had." "When DiDi filed the missing persons report, the police told her: 'They're over 21. If they want to drop off the face of the earth, they can do it,' " Kent said. Kent said the disappearance left DiDi Sohus heartbroken.

"And by then, she was impoverished," Morck said. "She moved to a trailer camp, and a year or two later, she died." The home was sold to the Paradas. Like many of the once-modest houses south of Huntington, the structure was largely dismantled and rebuilt into the substantial home that stands there today. A few weeks ago, contractors began work on another improvement, a new swimming pool at the rear of the property. Pool builder Jose Perez said a small tractor was digging a hole for the pool Thursday when the grisly discovery was made

As good a scenario as any! I'm trying to find out more about the disappearance, the time frame of all this. A friend of mine remembers hearing about this case when it happened out there, but she doesn't recall much about it. Dang!!

Los Angeles police detectives, who arrived in Boston tonight to grill the kidnapping suspect known as Clark Rockefeller about a 24-year-old unsolved murder in tony San Marino, suspect the "mystery man" could be a killer who hailed from Bavaria, Germany, law enforcement sources close to the investigation told ABC News.

"fits the description of a con man who lived with a wealthy couple named Jonathan and Linda Sohus in their exclusive California home in 1984, the sources said."

Two law enforcement sources told ABC News that fingerprints have linked Rockefeller to a fingerprint the man who used the name Chichester gave to get a driver's license in California.

He was also traced through a passport record to Bavaria, a mountainous area in the Alps in southern Germany, the sources said.
