These evil human beings are from my home town. I can't believe I used to walk to the swimming pool and then walk downtown during the swim breaks in the mid to late 80's. I truley believed I was safe in my small town.

I went to high school with Wes Shermintines little brother. He was a nice guy but very quiet. I didn't know him very well at all. He stayed to himself from what I remember. I never met Wes or loren, Thank god! I hope and pray they start digging for the second well soon. Its been too long for the family of so many missing victims.

Distinguishing Characteristics: Caucasian female. Brown hair, brown eyes. Billy has tattoos on her abdomen and on her left ankle. She may use the last name Harr.

Details of Disappearance

Billy was last seen in Stockton, California on December 11, 1984. She has never been heard from again. Few details are available in Billy's case.

Date of Birth: July 4, 1969
Age: 16 years old
Height and Weight: 4'8, 80 pounds
Distinguishing Characteristics: Caucasian female. Brown hair, brown eyes. Hobson has a scar over her left eye, a scar on her abdomen and the following tattoos: a butterfly on her right shoulder, a bird on her left shoulder, a heart on her ankle and three dots on her buttock. Her two pinky fingers are bowed.
Clothing/Jewelry Description: A blue and gold striped shirt and blue jeans.

Details of Disappearance

Hobson was last seen in Stockton, California on August 29, 1985. She left home in the middle of the night while her mother was at work, without taking any money or extra clothing. She has never been heard from again. Her mother reported her missing on September 10.

Wesley Howard Shermantine Jr. and Loren Joseph Herzog, the so-called "Speed Freak Killers," are possible suspects in Hobson's case. They were arrested in 2000 and ultimately convicted of murdering several females in the 1980s and 1990s; authorities believe they had as many as fifteen victims. Photographs of both men are posted below this case summary. Shermantine is on death row. Herzog's sentence was reduced from 78 years to 14 years after the court ruled his confession had been coerced. He was paroled in 2010 and then committed suicide in January 2012, after he found out his former partner had begun cooperating with authorities and had offered to reveal the location of victims' bodies in exchange for a payment of $33,000.

Shermantine lead investigators to the skeletal remains of Chevelle Wheeler and Cyndi Vanderheiden, who'd been missing since 1985 and 1998 respectively. He also pointed out an abandoned well in Linden, California that contained some 300 human bones and personal items. Shermantine stated the well contains up to twenty victims, Garecht being one of those. He blames Herzog for all the murders and says he only helped with disposing the bodies. Authorities are in the process of sorting out the contents of the well and attempting to identify the bones. Shermantine and Herzog are being investigated in other missing persons' cases, including Phillip Martin, Michaela Garecht, Susan Bender, Ruth Leamon, Gayle Marks and Sylvia Standly.

No arrests have been made in connection with Hobson's disappearance. Foul play is suspected in her case.

According to the article, the remains of three people were found in the well. Two of them were ID'd as Joann Hobson and Kimberly Billy, and one remains unidentified.

There are other locations that have not yet been searched, so it is possible that other bodies might be found in the future.

Only that Governor Jerry Brown signed off on letting Shermantine out of prison on a day-trip to assist them (under heavy security) with locating more remains.

They didn't indicate when or where. They probably won't for security reasons.

Here's an update on the third still-unidentified victim found in the well. The skeletal remains of a fetus were also found.

Investigators revealed the remains of a fetus were recovered Thursday in a well on Flood Road searched months ago in Linden.

The unidentified remains from the Linden well fit the profile of a female, aged 16-18 years old, 5’1”-5’4” tall, with mixed ancestry.

Wesley Shermantine has repeatedly said in letters that a pregnant black woman was in that same well.

I don't know. If she was 2 months pregnant, I doubt that would be the fetus they found. A fetus at 12 weeks is about 2 inches long, and I don't even think the bones are fully formed. After all this time, I would be very surprised.

Deretha Johnson went missing from San Fran in 1982 and she was 5 months pregnant....She was 20 years old and 5' tall....not too far off the estimates.

1982 is probably a little too early. Shermantine and Herzog were both 16 at the time that Deretha went missing. The earliest murders attributed to them were in 1984.

But Dena McHan is sometimes discussed as a possible victim of WS and LH, and she went missing in 1981

He favors investigators from the Reno Police Department, who believe Shermantine can help them close a 1996 case.

Shermantine talked of a woman abducted from Reno and another victim, a man called "Hippie Pat," murdered and buried in Calaveras County. There are more burial places in the Linden area, he has said.

Most recently, Shermantine has said he can lead officials to 14 victims buried in an expansive wilderness area of Lake County called Cow Mountain.

I just heard from a reliable source that the woman from Reno is more than likely Terry Ann Fourcher and that they have found lots of remains already.

This past Sunday Shermantine was released from San Quentin in the FBI's custody to point out locations where bodies and remains may be buried, and it's estimated that there are about 50+ bodies.

The girl's mother, who was contacted by police Monday, said she believes the fragment is likely that of the girl based on information that was shared with her by police. Michaela was 9 when she was kidnapped outside a Hayward corner market on Nov. 19, 1988.
"As far as the bone itself goes, they told me it was (from) a girl between the ages of 5 and 13 and that (it coincided) with the time she went missing. I had really doubted that they had been responsible for the MG abduction. The victims usually aged as the killers (WS and LH) aged. After seeing the sketch of Michaels abductor its a dead ringer for Loren Herzog, imo. But, the sketch also looks like the kidnapper of Jaycee Duggard. If the speed freak killers were also killing young children..then they're pedophiles as well as killers. And that should open up a whole lot of new cases..spanning states!

These guys killed so many people just because they wanted to. They we're mobile, and have been in several other states..This should be front page news until the victims are found and back with thier familys! Almost 30 years of waiting for some of these familys..how much heartache does it take to get the digging stated again! IMOO
