Sadly, this young woman doesn't have a thread. Given her age, I'm quite surprised how little attention her case has gotten.
All we know: 5'2 and 100 pounds. Black hair (not even any information about how she wore her hair) and brown eyes. Year of death is 1976, no exact PMI listed. All parts recovered, but we don't know if she decomposed, skeletal or recognisable.
She has a Doe Network page but that doesn't have much either.

I believe this is the same victim: 1383UFCA - Newspapers.com

Evidence indicates the body had been placed in the field east of Eubank Avenue at Q Street by someone. Black female in her early teens 5 feet tall 110 pounds and hair done in French curls.
She was wearing a multi-colored skirt black corduroy pants and green wedgie shoes.
The body had been splashed with a flammable liquid in an abortive attempt to burn it up.
Missing person reports have been checked throughout the area and teletypes have been sent to all police agencies.

Amazing find, thank you so much.
Wilmington is in Los Angeles County, so yeah, I think this is her.

So little information.

If they weren't just guessing, then she couldn't have been dead long, if they knew her eyes were brown. But if they were guessing, then that's a problem, because I can think of a few black actors off the top of my head who have green or hazel eyes. It's not a given.

Oh, wow, that is AMAZING. So fast! And so much more than the databases had. Thank you!

Okay, amazing, we have COD.

I guess the question is, did she take the drugs herself? Or was this murder?

The attempt at destroying identity leans to murder, but I also know people get paranoid on drugs. Maybe whoever she was using with was frightened and acted impulsively. Doesn't sound like they did a good job with the burning, if it's described as 'abortive', and they could still describe much of her clothing and even her hairstyle.

I think the person who found her might have come by quickly after it started and put it out for the most part. Is there a possibility she was murdered but she had drugs in her system so they just put that as the cause of death? It gives me bad vibes that she was dumped in field and set on fire and they were just like 'lol it was drugs dw about it' and didn't seem to do any kind of further investigation?

Well, they're braver than me, I would not be wading into an accelerant fire. Maybe they thought she was still alive, though. :(

If she was as intact as it seems she was, and as recently deceased, they should have had organs and even blood to work with for drug testing. It should have been enough to be pretty accurate. Maybe there were bad batches going around, and she got a dose that was either too much or not what she thought it was. They may have been able to tell. That's if, as you say, they bothered to check and didn't just, for example, see track marks and assume.

I do believe she HAD drugs in her system but I think they probably used that to dismiss the crime against her. The person who dumped her body in a field and set her on fire committed a crime, even if he's concealing an overdose. And there's no evidence they tried to look for him, and they probably didn't. I don't imagine the police in the 70s will do much for a black person who used drugs.

If they had, maybe we'd know who she is.

I wonder if they have photos, dental x-rays, fingerprints. This one feels solvable. They found her so shortly after she'd died. If samples taken are still in storage, maybe there's even DNA.

Even if there's no DNA, a recon could solve this. Hey, she's young enough to qualify for NCMEC help, right? That's something.
