My own thought about the 'Mad World' video on AJG's Instagram is that it was a half-arsed attempt at creating mitigating circumstances for his crimes, intended to create sympathy for himself. There is generally a public outpouring of sympathy over teen suicides, and I think after he was done with Mady he had an "oh, s***!" moment in which he realized that he had left a very broad trail and wanted to set the stage for some people to think, "Oh, this poor kid, he was thinking of killing himself, he would never have done this otherwise." Of course, this sets aside the fact that most people who are thinking of killing themselves don't kidnap, torture, rape and murder an 8-year old to see what the public reaction would be. That whole 'explanation' he put forth, if in fact he did, reeks of BS in my view. He was just casting around trying to excuse himself after the fact. And I don't think he was in angst over unrequited love, either--I think his ego was offended that the object of his affections didn't return them. And these yo-yo shows weren't necessarily some kind of nice, humanitarian thing he did for others, could just as well have been another form of ego gratification.
This wasn't some 'nice kid' driven to terrible acts by depression/despair, this was a bloodthirsty, cold-blooded killer in a fantasy-fulfillment frenzy brought on by opportunity. IMO, of course.
