Found Deceased CA - Maria Lopez & Jesus Guillen, from Garden Grove to Tijuana to collect rent 10 Jan 2020 *Arrest*

I think the inlaws were collateral damage. SIL was supposed to be picking up the rent and managing the property according to an early article. Perhaps he was pocketing the money and telling inlaws tenants weren’t paying. They went down to get US$6400 in rent. Perhaps he killed them because they weren’t going to find out he had been stealing from them and using their property as a killing field. JMO
That’s exactly what I think Sherlock. I think he was suppose to be managing the property, collecting rents and taking care of any repairs, for his in-laws, but he was spending the rent money on his own personal items and when the in-laws came to find out why the rents weren’t getting to them, there was a confrontation and he killed them.

I’m wondering if there are even more bodies buried on the property? JMO

In a coordinated operation, while requesting the search warrant to the Obrera's house, the state prosecutor asked for the arrest warrant. Both were delivered. There was enough evidence, such as cell phone analysis that allowed them to assume that not only the American couple were in that location, but also another man who had disappeared in November, after arriving in the city to sell a car.

In the house lived the son-in-law of the López couple, Santiago Rizo Avelar, who is presumed innocent as long as his responsibility for the judicial authority is not clarified, according to Article 13 of the National Code of Criminal Procedures. He was arrested.

Now, relatives of María Guadalupe García Ramírez, 53, and Guillermo Cabezas Melgoza, 57, both of whom are missing, are waiting for information that indicates whether the bodies found in the Obrera are theirs.

María Guadalupe García García Ramírez's brother went to the FGE to file a complaint for the disappearance of January 20, but he had not known about it since December 3, 2019. The woman was renting in the same village where Santiago Rizo lived.

Neighbors of the place revealed that, indeed, they had not seen Guadalupe for months, in fact the last time they watched her walk with difficulty supported by a cane, and with signs of having been mistreated. Before, they said, it was common to see her pass by the street next to Santiago.

The State Prosecutor General's Office confirmed that one of the bodies found in the home of the Second Section Colony belongs to Derek Lamar Brinker, of American origin, as his relatives confirmed.

The authorities continue with the investigations, as there are still two more unidentified bodies.

I ran a basic google search on him, and never came up with a missing person's report. I thought that was odd.

STANTON, Calif. (KABC) -- Nearly three weeks after their disappearance, a funeral service brought some peace to the family of María Lopez and Jesus Lopez Guillen.

Mexican authorities said the Garden Grove couple was murdered.

Their youngest daughter, Norma Lopez Rizo, reported them missing.

"I'm happy that they came home. I'm happy that we can at least celebrate them, and show everybody they were great people" Lopez Rizo said, adding memories of her parents, "She had such a beautiful, loud voice and my dad was always the quiet, strong man behind her."

Thank you Jo in Calif for finding updates, keeping us in the know, and these victims on the front page.

I wonder now if they are done excavating the properties that Avelar had access to for any more poor people that crossed his path?

Sounds like they have completed the search of the property.
The Central prosecutor of the attorney general's office, Hiram Sanchez, said that after the end of the inspection of the entire property, the find of five bodies was confirmed.

The victims are Jesus Ruben López, 70 years old, and Maria Teresa López, 65, both originating in garden grove; Derek Lamar Brinder, 60, born in Los Angeles; Maria Guadalupe García Ramirez, 60, and Guillermo Cabezas Melgoza, 57, originally from Mexico city.
