GUILTY CA - Matthew Muller for kidnap, rape of 30yo woman, Vallejo, 2015

  • #401
So weird. He didn't even get any money and returned her. Plan failed. You'd think he'd be like PHEW and move on to his next crime instead of trying to drum up attention.

I am not sure that money were his actual motive. He allegedly raped her several times.
Maybe that was his motive all along. Apparently he believed that another girl lived in that apartment (but she moved out). Maybe he was out to rape that girl, but kidnapped DH instead to assault her.

Perfect crime, because it was so bizarre, police declared it a hoax pretty much right away, instead of investigating.
I agree he was upset when police declared it a hoax, because he wanted credit. So he wrote these multiple letters to the journalist, claiming credit. Even then police wouldn't investigate. Maybe this department needs re-training.

Police say they had over 40 police detectives on the local, state, and federal levels and over 100 support personnel assisting in the investigation, working around the clock to help locate Huskins.

And very soon after DH was located, police declared it a hoax instead of trying to find the perp (and even claimed victims could face charges). So, instead of being apprehended, perp was able to go after another couple (thankfully he couldn't manage to kidnap that woman because her husband fought back).

Could be. It seemed like he was (according to him) hoping to involve the family of the woman he thought he was kidnapping. Maybe he got Intel on people working at the law firm. He seemed to want to, given that camped out there to steal it!

I agree, do not think she was lying. I just reread some of the doc. I think I misled myself because the person/people involved in the kidnapping were referred to as "UNSUB #1" and "UNSUB #2" which sounded like it meant multiple people. And then it was stated that the doc was sealed so as not to tip off MM or anyone acting with him. But they might have just been covering their bases.

One thing that does make it seem like he was all alone in this is that he made DH tie up her boyfriend. If he really had his Ocean's 11 gang with him, why not just have one of his buddies do it?

She never saw anyone's face. She only said that she thought the guy she saw had reddish brownish hair. MM's hair looks dyed to me, so he might dabble in colors! What a looney tune, especially if he used different voices. :hills:
Welll, when he committed his home invasion in June, he abandoned his "colleagues". He committed that one alone, so I don't think his cohorts really exist.

Well that was because they all disbanded, according to his rantings. He must live in a land where he creates his own stories.

'I do feel very bad for Denise': Harvard-educated 'Gone Girl' kidnapper speaks out from jail blaming his blurred sense of 'fantasy and reality' for abduction

Matthew Muller said he has bipolar disorder and suffers from extreme psychosis and paranoia

He said his mental illness causes the 'blur' between fantasy and reality

In an email to the San Francisco Chronicle, kidnappers praised Denise Huskins

Some police officers initially thought that Huskins had faked her own kidnapping from her boyfriend's home

Muller, who is a Harvard-educated attorney and former U.S. Marine, is the only person who has been charged in the case

Maybe he's schizophrenic or has Multiple Personalities???

Maybe he's schizophrenic or has Multiple Personalities???

It's been stated in multiple articles that he has bipolar disorder. Individuals w/ BPD often develop psychosis when a manic episode is left unchecked.

I was thinking the same. That may be why he earlier referred to "we." Also, just the fact that he could do something like this to people and then later be so apologetic and defensive of his victims makes it sound like he has a very conflicted personality or multiple personalities.

The part about living a blur between fantasy and reality...I think he lives in a mostly fantasy world in which he plays both the villain and the victim advocate. To him, the people living around him are only tools he uses to carry out his fantasies. JMO

No updates ?

Last month I mentioned him directly to Dublin PD. They immediately got very tight-lipped about him and would only say it's an on-going investigation...
For the Dublin case, he pleaded not guilty last week to several felony counts, including first-degree residential robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. A preliminary hearing is scheduled in Pleasanton on Aug. 27. http://www.contracostatimes.com/ci_2...-oceans-eleven

He confessed the entire thing to a reporter "off the record......" but the FBI was listening.

What a moron! LOL
It's not letting me quote from the article, but there was no gang. This interview was done in July, and I have met this reporter, she is local. No wonder Dublin PD got tight-lipped when I mentioned him name in July!!
There were two home-invasions in Palo Alto that he committed in 2009, for which he was almost questioned, but with his intelligence, he was able to talk his way out of it and give a phony explanation as to why he was in the area! He kept the same M.O.
I'd really like to see/hear his ex-wife speak and try to understand what she saw in him!
Here's hoping the cell phone evidence is not thrown out. This is one courtroom that's actually close enough for me to attend in the future.

From what he told reporter, he acted alone. There was no gang. Being part of this gang was just one of his fantasies.

"“In the context of discussing the kidnapping of [Huskins] ‘off the record and on background,’ Muller said that there was no gang and that it was just him,” special agent Wesley Drone wrote in the affidavit."
