CA - Maurice Taylor Jr, 12 & Maliaka Taylor, 13, decapitated, Lancaster, Dec 2020 *parents arrested*

I can see snapping.....but to the point of beheading your own children? I just can't comprehend that.
It really sounds like psychotic rage. But at whom? The children? The wife (to hurt her)? The times? A combination?
He didn't kill his wife or other two children. Why?
I can't imagine what happened to lead to something such as this.

I mean, so far, he was the only one arrested. But there was another adult in the house, what was going on?

A property owner in the area told the Times he thought only two children lived in the home.

He said the home environment 'looked strange' with the family keeping themselves to themselves and the windows were often 'blacked out' in a neighborhood where most others would stop and chat outside.

Very odd that a personal trainer would have blacked out windows and not be seen outside with his kids ,socialising with the neighbours. Most trainers work 'word of mouth' and rely upon meeting new clients in the area.
This is giving me Turpin vibes.

I wonder if all 4 kids are his? Or maybe his wife went into the marriage with 2 kids?

The murdered kids were each found in their own bedroom, had thought they would be found near a tv, computer, or play station, i was almost expecting to learn that the teens were loudly fighting over use, maybe causing father to snap.
Oh boy, wondering now just how long have they been deceased?!
imo, speculation.
California dad arrested for murder of 2 kids who were reportedly found decapitated
''Officials tell the L.A. Times that the victims were found in separate bedrooms in the home and it’s unclear how long they had been dead.

At the home, the sheriff’s department says there were also two adults and two other children who were questioned by homicide investigators. The L.A. Times identified the two adults as the victims’ parents.

The children's father, Maurice Taylor Sr., was later arrested on murder charges and booked into jail, where he’s being held with a $2 million bail.''

What was going on inside that house? Was the other adult having trouble breathing because she was nervous and shocked, or was she having trouble breathing because she was attacked, maybe also in the throat/neck area?

That's a good question. I want to lean towards being nervous and shocked because they haven't filed any other charges besides the murder charges yet. And that leads to more questions. Since they were in their rooms, did she know what had happened to them? Or was it something that he had done while she and the other kids were asleep and that was how she found out? Or did she know what had happened and was scared out of her mind that she and the other kids were next?

Maybe part of the breathing problem was the odour, which must have been overpowering if even the neighbours (suspecting a gas leak) could smell it from outside, imo, speculation.

from the link:
Howard Kern, an attorney and writer who has taken personal training sessions with Taylor for about seven years, told the LA Times he called the fire department at 7:34 a.m. Friday morning as he and some of Taylor's other clients grew increasingly concerned about the family's welfare.

'I said, 'I'm concerned'. We are concerned about a possible gas leak. There are four children and two adults - and we are concerned about their safety,' he told the outlet.

Another client told the Times she had contacted the Sheriff's Department Tuesday when Taylor failed to show for a session over Zoom.

She said she knew something was wrong when he didn't send a Zoom link for a session and then didn't show up at the allotted time.

The client, who spoke anonymously, said she and other clients tried and failed to contact him and started contacting each other voicing concerns that something had happened.

'I knew they weren't out of town. They didn't have money to travel,' she said.

so my guess is they were killed Tuesday - so 3 days in the house? what was mom and the other two children doing? this is horrific
IMO

I was hoping for some kind of update this morning. I know we need to be patient but it's just so horrible!

It's completely off the deep end, but some people are doing crazy insane things since the pandemic - they imagine that civilization is ending and make irrational decisions.

From the link:
LASD said it is working with the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services to place the two surviving children.

It is not clear whether the DCFS had any prior contact with the family before Friday's events.

----------------
Why are they separating the mom from the two remaining children? if we are to believe the dailymail?

Maybe until they know the mother wasn't involved?

If the two living children are old enough to be interviewed, maybe they want to keep them away from Mom until they get all involved parties interviewed about what happened in the home.

maybe mum and other 2 children arrived home to find this had already happened when the dad had been alone with the 2 teens? he had maybe calmed down or was shocked by this time and trying to figure out a way forward

A 34-year-old man who remains in custody on suspicion of decapitating his 12-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter is due in a Lancaster court on Tuesday, according to county jail records.

"Detectives have learned that the deceased male and female both appeared to be suffering from lacerations and stab wounds," Ortiz said.

Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris told the Los Angeles Times that the two were decapitated, but City News Service could not independently confirm that report.

"Based upon what was released from the homicide detectives, that information has not been disclosed," a Sheriff's Information Bureau spokesperson told CNS on Saturday. "We cannot release (that) unless the homicide detectives have confirmed it. It's a sensitive case, obviously."

The victims' names will be released pending notification of next of kin, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

A man, a woman and two children were questioned by homicide detectives, the sheriff's department said.

So, which one wasn't the parent of the murdered children? The suspect or the woman? If it's pending notification of next of kin, that should mean that one parent doesn't know, correct?

I was thinking an abused (rather than abusive) husband <modsnip>, financial troubles, troublesome teenagers and he snapped. Certainly possible that he snapped from too much together time.

... all speculation
I can see snapping.....but to the point of beheading your own children? I just can't comprehend that.

I could see it -- if he truly was a guy trying to please her and she ragged on him all the time, if they were having trouble paying bills, etc., if the two kids had trouble coping in that house or had been in trouble at school, etc., and/or were causing trouble at home, and possibly dad might have also been behind a bit of steroids (or not). SMH.
There are a lot of people with financial woes, cooped up at home -- it might only take a spark on the wrong day...
But certainly he went way over the top on what he did to those children -- way over. It is indeed beyond comprehension, @LaborDayRN.
I hope that family is getting some solid help on dealing with this situation. I just can't imagine...
