...They also would have seen any searches that he made about places to dispose of a body. This tells me that he was familiar with the area that he was going to hide evidence...
You're smart thinking like LE there. They have the computers from the home and LM's phone, etc., They have the cars, with hopefully some GPS info. LE should be able to determine if he made any computer/ phone searches to find locations to dispose of a body, and if not, then look close in the CV surrounding areas or look for a helper. JMO though.
Someone replied to a comment on the 2nd analysis that LM’s parents were in Texas when MM went missing.
Was it a listener of the show? But that would be considered a rumor. Listeners can make any kind of unverified comment. We don't know how many family members LM has in the area, or even friends. Did you hear that part where the Panel on Part 2 about the helper? I'm going to listen for it again. Sure seemed like they were seriously speaking out to a possible helper, warning them to turn in their ticket by calling CVPD, before they get further caught up in a Code 187.

yeah, a listener. Right, it’s unverified.

****sorry this posted weirdly**** and sorry if my comment about the listener has to be deleted. It’s a rumor.

Personally, I don't want to easily dismiss the theory of her being placed in a water area. Partly I feel this way because of the fact that he didn’t mention water at all in the interview, but mentioned hiking 11 times. In an interview with the BIL, he said they went water skiing. There were pictures of her on a boat wearing a Roxy rash guard and her daughters jumping off of a boat.
The lagoon areas on the way to solana stand out to me, if he took the 805 north. He could have easily added dumbbells to a large bag. They are a fit family, they probably have dumbbells. They also travel a lot, so I’m sure they have large duffel bags. All is speculation and MoO
Excellent points, and it seems water disposal is often favored by Perps. I had missed the boating pics; good call out.

Since no POI has been named, we are, of course, referring to an unknown Perp, and not anyone not formally identified by LE.

amateur opinion and speculation

 I can't see that at all. He'd be noticed for sure. Wouldn't he? Hey, maybe you're onto something. To me, it's very populated here and people and cameras notice. Places, especially the swanky cities, get patrolled more. It's MOO though. Scaredy Cat Me, I'd be afraid to carry a duffle bag with a body in it and weights, and go out to the lagoons thinking I wouldn't be noticed somehow. Would he be that familiar with the area? I'm not and I'm a local. Plus, driving a Lexus with vanity plates!

Check out the guy with binoculars bird watching. What else could he see? ;)

I haven't been keeping up with this thread my main catch up has been via the interview room, i was wondering if any images of the house had been released yet? It would be interesting to see how the driveway etc looks.

I found one, but not sure if I can post it here?

Begs the question, when parents were called to come stay and help, Fri/Saturday or afterwards. Moo

Yes I don't think he had an accomplice. Someone helping since then, more so, especially with items removed from home that are now with family (would love to know what items and hoping for a search at other homes).

And I think if she was taken out from house on Fri morning, it is likely close by, disposed of before the sun came up (within 20mins). Also, the bedroom staying locked until Saturday so all clues could be removed.
Al speculation and MOO
all MMO and speculation, but i think the footage of him leaving for the beach early in the morning could be just a rouse and likely if MM had been moved.. it would be at the dead of night. i'm assuming one would know which neighbors had cameras , and one would know that any footage recorded at night wouldnt show much.

I'd look at the footage of the car in question, on Thursday, right before nightfall... Then footage of the car friday morning, right before one would go to the beach. and would see if the vehicle was in a different position.. inches off even.

All just my amateur speculation and opinion.

This is neither here nor there. Just thoughts. I'm not sure which boating pics, but the one jumping off the boat is, as far as I know, not in the States maybe. Might be a place called Pink Beach. We know the Maya's family is from the Philippines, and that Maya and LM went to school and lived in Hawaii. So, they both knew being around water. However, remember Maya's travels with her daughters when they went all over, but there weren't any pics of her husband on that trip.

There is no suspect named, and we don't know what happened to Maya. This is just about her husband's behavior not showing up for the vigil or searches, not getting on camera. We haven't been able to see his body language. LM seems like a private person, like he said. He also seems aware that he can't hide his intentions. It's mind numbing what happened. He can't think straight. I doubt he'd attempt to check out a unfamiliar spot. IMO, he'd stick with what he's comfortable around or doing.

There's a March for May in Chula Vista tomorrow. Info here:

I agree with @Curious Me that the Mission Trails Park, beaches and lagoons are all far too populated and urban for a body dump. That's why my thinking goes into the mountains in the east of the county. Also Mission Trails is just hiking and biking, there are no through roads for a car. There are, however, many lonely stretches of roads in the mountains, plenty of rarely used dirt roads, adjacent to the Pacific Crest Trail and other hiking areas to create the appearance of a tragic hiking fall. There is also the cover of actual forest trees at those elevations ("Pine Valley" has pine trees) rather than just chaparral.

If a stranger abducted her off the street while she was walking, he might not care so much about the body being found. But if it was a close person, the last person who saw her, then they would want maximum long-term concealment. Space, lots of space. And there is the vast desert areas beyond the mountains.

Here is a question for all of you: My car battery died just when I also needed registration and state inspection. So I got a new battery, but when I took it in for inspection the mechanic said I had to drive about 300 miles for the computer to fully reset before he could test it. Turns out any time the car battery is disconnected, it clears the whole computer, on most cars pretty much immediately. Does this include GPS information?

So could someone abduct a person, drive all over for several hours, dump a body, then arrive at a reasonable location like a gas station and simply disconnect the battery to clear the GPS history? Then continue to alibi destination perhaps some beach. I don't know if GPS data also disappears.

I was thinking if someone left at 6:30, they could make it to Los Penasquitos Lagoon a bit after sunrise. A route I was eyeing was from CV to solana beach of 805N, to the 5, exit at Carmel Valley rd. Near the end of Carmel valley rd is shoulder parking and an entrance to Los Penasquitos Lagoon. This lagoon is closed temporarily so not populated, but still accessible. It is near a popular hiking trail called Torrey pines (so it may have been a familiar area). Off the beaten path, convenient entry and minimal to zero surveillance. The person could have dumped the body very quickly, then continued on Camino Del Mar all the way north to Solana. This is MoO.

Another thing I have pondered is if LM knew someone in Solana beach, and that was why he traveled there. Maybe he wanted to meet someone without making a phone call.

In the interview LM mentions several hiking locations. "I told the police she really likes hiking." LM is answering questions about MM's experience level, would she hike alone. LM mentions "7 hiking trails" like it is a challenge or as LM states "a bucket list". He mentions San Miguel Park (the park behind their house) a mountain in Santee or La Mesa (San Diego County), Twin Sisters, Devil's Peak and Potato Chip Rock, as well as 10 years earlier the Colorado River and Grand Canyon.

JMO these particular locations are all over the place in terms of locations, preparation, supplies, time commitment, danger and skill level. Potato Chip Rock is a crowded, couple of hours hike in Poway (in San Diego County) for anyone fit enough to walk - that is not anyone's "bucket list" level. Does he mean Twin Sisters in Colorado, in Washington? Or maybe LM was referring to Three Sisters Falls right in San Diego County? There are too many Devil's Peaks to count worldwide but not in San Diego, so which one? LM mentions easy local couple of hour hikes in the same context as serious mountaineering?

I did not find a 7 hikes challenge for San Diego County, but this link has several others 8, 6, and the 5 peak challenge is Mission Trails Regional Park. Potato Chip Rock is mentioned. And not LM's "Santee mountains... a mountain in La Mesa", but the page does mention El Cajon Mountain, Cuyamaca Peak, and many others.

You may be on to something, @SandyQLS. Brilliant thinking. The same thing happened to me last year when I had to pass the smog test, and I couldn't pass. My car is older, but has low mileage. I had gotten a new battery and it was not registering in one of the eight? monitors. ("The emission monitors are internal self-tests which the Engine Control Unit performs to ensure your is not polluting and is running efficiently. The entire process of self-testing various emission control systems is called a Drive Cycle.") They told me to drive around 200-300 miles. You have to go thru a certain pattern of cold start, idle, acceleration a certain way to get it to reset -- it was unbelievable the process. It didn't reset. I had to get a new catalytic converter to pass smog = expensive repair. I'm now terrified if for some reason the battery gets disconnected.

Like I said only one of the eight monitors weren't resetting and it had to do with emissions. Some memory was still there in the other monitors, I think. I don't know if if it would wipe out the GPS history though. There's other computerized memory though, I think, like, don't laugh, a black box? A mechanic would know. Gee, if that is the case, criminals should not know about it, huh.

Heather Elvis case was on 20/20 last night. The couple had tampered/ unplugged something to thwart LE. (was it the GPS or the truck's black box memory?) I don't know enough about cars, especially newer cars, but it sounds like you are on to something.

It isn't so much about not being detected while dumping a body. It is just so urban that discovery of the body would be very quick by the public complaining of the smell or maintenance worker discovery. It's been two months?

They do sometimes find bodies in the lagoons, but I believe they are usually homeless people who just wander there. Why would Maya be anywhere near this closed lagoon? How does she get there?

Your post is making me think! LM's interview with KGTV10 was January 12th. So LM was still floating seemingly plausible scenarios "a friend picked her up" " early sunrise hike" "wine-tasting" like MM just took off over an argument. As time passes, none of it has any plausible deniability left - no matter where she is found, she had no way to get anywhere further than San Miguel Park on her own. LM's "friend picked her up" equals the famous line about some other dude did it SODDI ? It makes no sense.

Now I like the lagoon a little better... :)

Your thoughts and theories are appreciated. I used to work in Sorrento Valley and know the Torrey Pines, Bird Rock, Del Mar, etc., areas, but I'm not real familiar with the Los Penasquitos Lagoon. I see a road running through it. Is that Sorrento Valley Rd.? Are you a local from around there?

So, you're saying someone could weight down a body and be real quick about it, and toss the body into the lagoon and it wouldn't be found right away? I honestly don't know how secluded it'd be in half darkness. I would imagine there's still traffic short cutting on that road.

Graphic Now -- Places seem too populated and not secluded enough, but we all know that dead bodies have been dumped in many unlikely places. In Chula Vista a body of a man stuffed in a barrel was found tossed in the bay. Shocking and not a place I'd have thought a good idea...and it wasn't.

The lagoon has a current that people on google reviews say is so strong you can ride floats on it out to the ocean. Might not have even needed to be weighed down...MoO.

I thought it was odd that when Larry was talking about La Mesa he said "I forgot there was a mountain there." I thought that was a really weird thing to say. Feels significant somehow.

^^^ Really? @PsychSnack, somebody would have to have a whole lot of courage to try to pull that off.

@PsychSnack, I do appreciate your lagoon thoughts, but...
Wait, one more thing... aren't those train tracks running on the right side beside the road? That would be way too chancy, IMO. (Train passengers are always checking out the view.)

Excellent post. Thank You for supplying us with visuals and pics. I agree it's a swanky area and people are up there for so many various reasons. Not a sure bet for seclusion. You seem to know the San Diego county area well.

Im from SoCal, but not this area. This is a bit of a better view of the lagoon area I had in mind. I see homes above on a ledge, but it was very early in the morning. I totally think anyone could park here and make a quick drop off.
All of this is my own theory/opinion/speculation.

Your emojis make me lol. Only freight trains would run through there. I’m totally just theorizing an area here...Maybe someone else has a better possibility? I do think the search is too focused on hiking trails IMO

I enjoy your theories and you back them up with some explanation that makes sense. So, thank you. :)

Your emojis make me lol...
We used to have a whole bunch of emoticons on this forum before they limited them to 12 faces. See above your posting box there's the smiley face? The emojis pop up under your posting box. See them? You can only use five emojis in a post.
Whispering this now... I have other sources for my visuals.

Thanks for supplying this picture. Visuals help so much.
Traffic going through there is probably constant. Not saying it would be LM parking there, as we're just speculating now, but... Someone would remember a Lexus with vanity plates parked there when they found the body within a day or two. It would surface one way or another, IMO. Is there surfing in that area? Local here, but with Covid fog memory. :D
