Waiting for the dead body to be found? LM's father is so casual, to say the least, about his daughter-in-law of 21 years being gone for three months now. Then, he mentions a dead body in front of her children.

I posted last night on here that the parents were probably staying to care for the kids. The only thing is they may be influencing the children to remain distant from Maya's side of the family. (cause they're the ones looking for a dead body and our side is just waiting?)

I don't know, six shots is over doing it, and would leave such a mess. All MOO.

i really wish they weren't discussing this in front of the kids.

I thought not, but I’m also not sure now. Maybe he showed up later in the evening? Someone had to be there with the daughters since LM left early. He claimed to leave Maya with the girls, not the other way around which is a strange way to say that, like the girls were watching her and not mom watching the girls.

I don’t remember where it was mentioned, but it was said there was no evidence she had packed for their Big Bear trip. I wonder why more wasn’t mentioned about the fact that Maya was discussing the trip the same day she went missing and there was no evidence that she’d begun packing, for her or her kids. If she left willingly (take a walk to cool off) there still would’ve been something partly packed or even her toiletries being prepared. Did someone clean up and put her things back? Is her suitcase or travel bag still in the house?

Did anyone mention when Larry was allegedly out firing his gun on the weekend Maya went missing? Did he state that himself? I may have missed or misinterpreted this...

If I understand the estimated timline, he either went shooting:
1. During the trip to Solana Beach with his 4 year old
2. Sometime after Maya's brother left and before her parents arrived in the morning/early afternoon (after he had already been gone all day)
or
3. After the missing person's report was filed.

If I do understand it correctly, this leaves a really small time-frame for him to casually go out shooting... unless he was firing his gun in the dark or while he was with his 4 year old. If he went out after she was reported missing, who watched the kids? Was firing his gun more important than finding his wife? Was he carrying his gun around at the beach? I doubt it. Either way, it's very suspicious.

A Google search tells me that sunrise around the time she went missing in January was around 6:51am. Sunset was at around 5 pm.

I am trying to play Devil's advocate but I'm having a really hard time. If Larry admitted to firing his gun that weekend, it makes his statement with the news sound even more ridiculous.

Could Mya have been mistakenly shot?

Just thinking about all those shots. If LM was shooting at the door to get in the room maybe Mya was shot accidentally.

I’m not suggesting that a fight didn’t happen and I’m also not suggesting that someone didn’t mean to harm Mya, but if someone actually did try to get in the room, by shooting multiple times, maybe, just maybe, Mya was caught by a bullet in error.

I believe someone meant to harm Mya but maybe not kill her.

But then again, maybe she was shot intentionally.

I always surmised that strangulation was involved but with those gunshots, I’m not sure.

It looks like the neighbor leaked the gunshot video, then they asked that the media remove video and only share audio as they are afraid their home can be identified from the video. Some media have honored that request but others have not.
I guess one should think of the ramifications on oneself before handing the press info.
I wonder if the neighbor ever considered why the police had not shared this video before they took it upon themselves to release it to the media.

The neighbor who provided News 8 the recording wanted to remain anonymous and did not want the video portion aired on TV because it identifies their house.

The neighbors gave the recording to Chula Vista Police the week after Maya disappeared.

CVPD Captain Eric Thunberg emailed News 8 the following statement:
“We have no comment and will not comment on any evidence or potential evidence in this case. Such comments complicate and potentially hinder the investigation."

I’m a bit confused as to why the media has this evidence in the first place. Why does the neighbor still have the footage? Did they make a copy before giving it to LE? Did LE already return it?

Digital security cameras display on your computer/phone and store on a cloud. You can send a copy of the digital data file and still retain it.

Last minute would’ve been Thursday (night she went missing) as Friday morning they were leaving for Big Bear. It would have made sense that a bag was already at least part way prepared for a weekend trip to the snow. Snow gear would have at least been prepped as it’s bulky. Based on what’s been said and according to a timeline, there should have been evidence that she had begun packing, same with the kids. The kids’ phones were off all day Friday, they weren’t curious about where their mom was if they were supposed to be leaving? They weren’t curious about where their dad and brother were?

I'm afraid that Richard Drouaillet has been misled by somebody that's not responsible for prosecuting the case.

It's difficult to see vulnerable families taken advantage of when they need support -- not empty promises.

It's truly not enough for an investigator to drop "multiple bombshells" in the media and expect CVPD and/or any LE agency to disclose pertinent information about their investigation-- including interviews of 47 witnesses and 12 executed search warrants.

That's not the way it works... especially when your job is to protect the integrity of the investigation and build a case that can be successfully prosecuted in court.

Again, while circumstantial evidence may satisfy probable cause required for an arrest warrant, it does not necessarily satisfy evidentiary proof beyond a reasonable doubt that's required to prosecute a case (i.e, a much higher standard than called for at a preliminary hearing, which is just a strong suspicion of guilt).

The Prosecutor only gets one bite at the apple.

Please, no rotten apples for Maya.

Another interview with Billy Little about the surveillance/gunshots. He said it sounds like a 3-57, and "that's exactly what a gunshot sounds like." He also says it was sarcastic, inappropriate, insensitive, and a bit of a taunt, for LM's dad to say they were looking for a body in front of the kids. He will appear on Dr. Phil on Monday.

I found roses link to be informative about recognizing the sound of gunshot because it realistically leaves plenty of room for error.

When you start looking at recognizing the sound of a shot from particular guns, there’s even more chance of error.
For all I know Mr. Little may have had a digital forensic analysis done on the neighbor’s alleged recording from the night MM allegedly disappeared, but I would hate to think he is making claims based on his own ears and because he knows what type of gun someone owns.
I don’t see how that circumstance could help a prosecutor get a conviction from a jury but I can imagine how a good defense attorney could discredit it.
Even with high tech digital forensic analysis there’s a failure rate of one out of ten which only introduces doubt in a trial.
