That was why I asked previously if May owned a dog. The dog reaction, maybe two dogs ( one yelping after the first shot- one continually barking in distress ) Those are stress barks. Small dogs too.
previous poster suggested that it could be the same dog. first shot, dog sounded like it was indoors and got startled (yelping)... ran outside doggie door and started barking more (the sound of the barking sounding much louder).

this scenario makes more sense.

I have two random speculations on where I would look for May.
If the Perp was directly involved in the disposal, he might have picked a "resting place" that was a little less harsh than a dumping ground. The Otay Reservoir area, and specifically the Elizabeth Cave look interesting to me.

If the Perp did not directly dispose of the remains, it is more likely to me that they were deposited in the desert either in an abandoned mine, or some equally receptive location. While possible, I don't think she ended up in the water; it's too much in motion, and likely to reveal. I think she is more in a spot that is unchanging.

I hope the accomplice (if there is one), will be smart enough to cooperate and cut a deal.

Amateur opinion and speculation

I always feel like I agree with everything you say. I think we think along the same lines. I've never much liked the water either even though it's probably harder to locate a body that's been properly weighed down. I also don't like the idea of a burial based solely on the terrain in the area, especially in wine country. Grapes grow best in rocky terrain and digging a grave in an area like that would be a really long and arduous process. A cave or abandoned mine makes more sense in my mind.

I have a couple locations that interest me as well that I thought I'd add.

Santee: Only because Larry seemed to get a lawyer once there was a body (animal bones) discovered. Not judging him on getting a lawyer, but the timing is interesting.
Devil's Peak: Merely because he self censored during his initial statement. I find this location more of a possibility now that there may be accomplices. A boat is required to get to the island but it is in the same direction as Solana Beach.
Temecula/Palomar Mountain: Larry mentions Temecula and drinking a lot in his statement, almost an obscene amount of times. I just can't let that go. And because I find this case very similar to the Maria Guzman case, I think Palomar Mountain is worth a search. Maybe the perpetrator knows that a year in the wilderness would make it hard to determine cause of death and is banking on a body not being recovered for some time?

Obviously, this is all speculation but I feel like there's more hidden in the statement he made. It's difficult to lie so often truth is mixed in. Whether he was lying or not remains to be seen, but it might hold the key to finding her.

Good thinking on all the locations. Yes, the subconscious spills out in our communications. He may have unwittingly given us some tips. (IF he is the Perp). And, as creepy as this sounds, if she is well tucked away in a cave/cavern, he could go "visit" her at some point that the heat was off.

I agree! If criminal profilers can determine that a killer has a speech impediment based on how the body was found, then there's gotta be a way to narrow down a body dump location based on the psychology of the people involved. I doubt you'd be able to pinpoint it on a map, but maybe you could figure out that an organized killer who grew up near the mountains would place a body in a familiar type of location. Or, maybe, based on the relationship of killer and victim, the body is located nearby for the specific reason of being able to visit.

I honestly don't know if any of this is factual so I'm speculating. I wish I knew more about psychology but I definitely think it plays a major roll in who we are and why we do the things we do.

As for the locations I mentioned on my last post, I'm merely pointing out locations based on the little evidence I have which is Larry's statement. If other evidence is provided in the future, I'll probably add some more. We really don't have a lot of information that isn't pointing in his direction at the moment, but if that changes, I'll definitely focus my attention elsewhere. I'm not trying to point fingers but it might look that way until more information comes to light.

I'm thinking the desert and Joshua Tree areas should be searched with all of the open space and abandoned mines. You skim Solana Beach on the way to Joshua Tree.

Another idea is the south desert area, reached by traveling out on Highway 8.

Well, that says everything we need to know.

Crimes of Violence unit the very next day....

That is a PACKED press release.

They've got this.

I see this as a legal CYA because everyone speculates those kids are in harms way.
Glad to see this SOP document, but it’s time for additional action.

Your Joshua Tree/mines suggestion reminds me of Erin Corwin. The marines found her.

All of you are coming up with some excellent speculations. My amateur sleuthing skill is predicting where remains will be found based on profiling the victim and known or unknown Perp, and using aerial maps.

Here’s a few things I have seen over the years:
-Exiting the initial crime scene. They travel back roads to avoid detection/interaction with others. Sneaky back roads.
-They typically don’t travel far with a dead body in their car
-They dump close to a freeway on ramp to quickly distance themselves from the body. Parallel access roads, anywhere close to the on ramp.
-They don’t go far off road. Dead bodies are well, dead weight and hard to move. They want to dump and run as quickly as they can.
-Seems as if more than a few dumped bodies are found by road crews in the course of maintenance

The biggest point is that travel would have been down sneaky side roads, access roads near freeway on ramps. Avoiding travel detection would have been the number 1 concern.

I need to spend some time looking at the aerial maps around his home. I have more than enough profile on the main players.

Think freeway on ramps; dump and run.
That Lexus couldn’t have gone far off road.

Things are publicly ramping up, I'm happy about that- but very concerned about the kids and their safety.

Where did LM grow up?

...one thing I was just thinking of...that area with the body in the water, glorietta bay (right where the bridge connects to coronado on the west side (I go lobster fishing there) has a long term anchorage with a lot of "live aboard" people (check it out in google maps satellite view). as I've boated there quite a bit I can tell you that many of those people living on those boats are a little bit sketchy, substance issues, mental health issues....I want this case resolved too but seems like simplest explanation right now is the body is a person connected to the boats....just speculation. Oh, your question about marinas being busy at 5:30 am, yes they can be, lots of people fishing go out to the coronado islands and it's not uncommon for people doing that to launch there boats at 3 or 4 in the morning to be at the islands at first light

I agree with this assessment. Also, this body was immediately recognized as female. I assume that this person has not been in the water very long. Maya disappeared over 3 months ago, so I don't think this is her.

Officers seized the family's black, Lexus SUV with a personalized license plate, that reads "MAYLANI."

Larry Millete told family members he was driving the Lexus all day on Friday, January 8.

On Sunday, January 10, one of Maya’s brothers noticed the air in the tires on the Lexus appeared to be low.

“One of the brothers noticed that the tires were a little bit low, so that raises red flags,” said Ricarch Drouailet, Maya’s brother-in-law.

Maya Millete, 39, worked in early 2020 as a civilian contract specialist for the Navy’s Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC). In June of 2020, she transferred to the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC), formerly SPAWAR, where she also worked as a contract specialist.

Can't listen at the moment.
What can the reason be for the tyre pressure? Just the long drive on the day or the terrain could cause that? Or weight? Thanks!

LE confirming that no calls been recorded about the gunshot.. I guess most people thought it was fireworks? JMO lots of false information going around then on social media..
Regarding the 4 new searches, I hope it was Uncle and Aunt phone calls, pings, car location etc. as that would show some interesting things I think JMO Has the uncle's car been seized? I can't remember but I hope so.

With NCIS involved and LM working in a naval hospital, perhaps they searched his work computers? I hope his search history shows something useful for locating May!
All speculation while eagerly waiting for justice for Maya!

I don't know why it was done or what caused it for the Lexus, but here it is suggested that tire pressure be decreased to gain traction when driving on sand:
