Are you kidding? Not certain why the children believe this? Ah, MOO, the children have been brainwashed and that's why. Have you heard what LM's parent's say about Maya, and why she's missing? Have you grasped the maliciousness coming out of their mouths? The children live with those people who bad mouthed Maya and her family all along. It's no mystery to some of us why the children wrongly blame Maya's side of the family, and believe it's Maya's side of the family causing LM to be incarcerated. It is incredibly sad especially knowing how hard Maya's Family has worked to find her. No one on LM's side of the family has done anything to search for her, but of course, we know why that probably is the case. Maya's Family has done so much to be part of the children's life. MOO, I hate hearing that the children are not understanding the truth and reality of why Maya is missing. They must miss her so much, remembering their joyful loving Mother, and I fear their minds are full of confusion and denial. JMO and MOO.​

The children’s guardian also reported that the kids, who range from kindergarten through middle school, are doing exceptionally well — all considered. She also said, addressing the maternal family’s request for visitation during the holidays, that the children believe Maya’s family is responsible for their dad being in jail and don’t want to have anything to do with them. ​

It's possible "the 730 evaluation" from a psychiatric professional will do deeper into the children's emotional state. From what I understand, there's to be a custody trial set for June 2023. There will be a status hearing next week on November 3rd.

MOO, as far as I understand it, and correct me if I'm wrong please, the paternal grandparents lived in the home and were caregivers while the parents worked-- an arrangement existing for quite some time. If so, the children were very used to LM's parents being a part of their everyday lives.

A decision to not change anything else in the kid's lives when they had so recently lost their mother was what apparently was decided by the courts. It makes sense only to some extent, providing them with the security of what was familiar. However, no thought or attention might have been given to the fact that the paternal grandparents had strong (toxic, IMO) opinions against Maya and supported their son no matter what he did.

Sure, they may have been told now to not discuss anything about the case with the children, but as we saw and read they had strong opinions that they were able to convey to the kids early on in this case.

As seen and heard on a news video, the Gpa fed the kid's the idea that Maya left and abandoned them and almost ridiculed Maya's Family for believing she met with foul play at the hands of LM.

They also allowed the father to talk to them, even when he wasn't supposed to. They are so cruel. These poor kids will realize what was done to their mother and to them.

Unfortunately, I think it will be a long time before they come to this realization. They're only children now that are living only in the environment and with people, they've known all of their young lives. In other words, they are thriving (per the court) because they know no difference. This is their normal. MOO

10/1/22 Update: Guardian ad litem hearing on 10/24/22.
10/12/22 Update: Murder: In court on Tuesday Judge Dwayne Moring modified the criminal protective order against Millete, whose only spoke in court when asked if he understood the guidelines, to which he replied, "Yes, sir." Per a request from his defense attorney, Millete will now be allowed to have written communication with his children. However, telephonic communication & in-person visits are still forbidden. The judge ruled that any letters must be reviewed by the children’s court-appointed guardian, who will monitor the communications for any inappropriate content, which would include discussing the case or attempts to unduly influence the children. Millete is due back in court on 12/6/22 for a preliminary exam readiness hearing, and then again on 1/11/23 for a preliminary hearing. During that hearing, which is expected to last up to three weeks, the prosecution will present evidence it believes will support the charges of murder & unlawful possession of an assault weapon filed against him.

In the video broadcast, News 8 reporting from the courthouse said there will be a 3-week preliminary hearing. That's not right, correct?

I believe the trial might require 3 weeks but not the prelim where the judge decides whether or not the state met probable cause to bound the case over for trial. I can see two or three days scheduled.

But this is CA where I'm constantly surprised about their system...

Also, I recall the Judge granted expanded media for the prelim for the defendants charged with murdering Aranda Briones but we never saw the hearing. Don't know what to expect for live coverage of Larry's prelim.

I too was surprised that they said 3 weeks for preliminary hearing. Maybe they heard incorrectly - and it IS about 3 days. I guess we shall see!
