For all intent and purposes, the Guardianship case is now over -- custody was granted to Maricris. Only tracking Conservatorship now.

Larry’s family is absolutely toxic. I can’t even imagine how badly Maya was treated by them.

Thankfully the children are with Maricris now. The damage the Millete family has done to these children is unfathomable.

IMO Auntie should do some jail time. Maybe that’s the only way of getting through to these people. For some reason they seem to think they’re above the law.

Going out on a limb to suggest that many know exactly what happened to Maya and most likely believe she deserved it and Larry was within his right to kill her.

*Felony Readiness Conference Hearing (@ 1:30pm PT) - CA - *May “Maya” Millete (39) (last seen @ home on Jan. 7, 2021, near San Miguel Ranch area, Chula Vista & reported missing Jan. 9, 2021 by her sister; not found). *Larry Ibarreta Millete (40/now 43) charged (10/18/21), arrested (10/19/21) & arraigned (10/21/21) & re-arraigned (1/25/23) with felony murder & felony possession of an assault weapon (a search warrant was served at the residence on 1/23/21. Detectives located a .223/5.56 rifle. The firearm is non-California complaint configuration & is an unlawful assault rifle in violation of 30605 PC, which is a felony). Plead not guilty. Held without bond. Denied bail (11/4/21). Found mentally competent to stand trial (9/26/22). San Diego County (South Bay)
Murder trial set to begin on 7/7/25.
The case has been reassigned to the South Bay courthouse from Judge Dwayne Moring, the jurisdiction where the crime is alleged to have occurred & Judge Enrique Camarena will preside over the trial in Chula Vista. Defense attorneys Liann Sabatini & Colby Ryan.

9/14/24 Update: Email from DA. Next further proceedings hearing on 4/21/25 @ 1:30pm & motions hearing 6/2/25 @ 9am. 11/22/24 Update: Further proceedings hearing is now called Felony Readiness conference hearing on 4/21/25 @ 1:30pm.
2/14/25 Update: DA sent out noticed of further felony proceedings on 3/3/25 @ 1:30pm.
3/3/25 Update: Prosecutors said they called Monday's hearing because they discovered Larry's aunt sent him a letter that, inside of it, contained letters from his children. The hearing resulted in a modification of the criminal protective order already in place. Judge Enrique Camarena told Millete that he can take phone calls in jail from family & friends but not from the couple’s three children. The judge said communication via mail between Millete & his children is also prohibited. The judge issued a warning to Larry & his aunt, warning them that violating the protective order could get them in trouble. Next trial readiness conference hearing on 4/21/25 @ 1:30pm.
3/13/25 Update: Felony readiness conference hearing was changed to 4/16/25 @ 1:30pm.
Conservatorship Case: Review hearing on 6/30/25.

The latest postponement in Millete’s trial, which had been slated to begin in July, stems from a request from his attorney, Liann Sabatini. She requested a delay until next spring but Judge Enrique Camarena called a delay of that length "excessive," and set the trial date for Jan 21, 2026.

Seems we're back to square one when the initial trial date was also in January but years earlier...

I just noticed that LM's defense attorney Liann Sabatini also grew up in HI. I didn't recall reading that about her before.
