it's been about a week since ashlee told tyler brewer a name and place, "appeared to regret disclosing it", and allegedly tried to keep him from leaving. he says he relayed the information to LE, i assume fairly quickly. and i assume they would have acted on it fairly quickly. and yet... no announcements that they've found her.

so... what do we think happened? were the name and place false? just not specific enough? did whoever has her go on the run or into hiding themselves? or does the person ashlee gave her to....... no longer have her?

What else is she supposed to say? She's not going to say she left the child alone in the desert or in a national park or in some cabin in the woods. She's not going to say she killed the child or sold the girl, nothing like that that would be her fault. The only logical excuse is that she left the child with some person.

Something is not right with this picture! Why wouldn't the mother report her daughter missing when the daughter didn't show up after school? Three guesses, and two of them don't count!

The child not showing up after school isn't a fact in this case so you may be accidentally posting on the wrong thread?

At the court hearing, she had a very strange hairstyle, as if she had cut her hair and shaved the front, maybe so that it would be comfortable to wear a wig and her natural hair would not slip. I think she could have done the same to the girl, cut her hair so that she would be unrecognizable and put on a wig. Did you notice in the video that she and the girl both carry handbags on the side and in the same style.

"Shes been in the loonie hospital twice" Nice way to put it Grandma, no wonder Ashlee doesn't want any thing to do with The maternal side of the family.

11:08 in the video.

I get it, but how would you feel if Ashlee was raising your granddaughter? She permanently lost custody of the older daughter, and Melodee twice.

Lilly’s a spicy Grandma who lacks a filter.

Sorry, I thought I was on the Melodee Buzzard age 9 thread.

Sorry, I thought I was on the Melodee Buzzard age 9 thread.

You are, but Melodee didn't go missing after not showing up after school. (Melodee was homeschooled.) I think that's where the confusion came from.

The LA division of the FBI posted on their Instagram just yesterday asking for any tips/sightings/images relating to this case.

I think that if Melodee was my grandchild 4 or 5 years wouldn't have gone by with no contact with her.
I keep going back to what CM, Melodee's half sister said when she talked to Ashlee.
“I did see Ashlee, the day after I received the phone call asking if I had seen Melodee, and then seeing that Melodee was missing, I did go to Lompoc, I knocked on Ashley’s door.

“She told me, ‘Why now? Why do you wanna be a part of her life now?’

“And I explained to her, we had no contact information for you or an address. And she said there was a reason for that, that she kept that information from the family.

“Before she went into the house, I asked her if she could tell me where Melodee is, if she’s okay. And she ignored me.

“Then right before she closed the door, she said, ‘I hope you and your kids are doing well.'”
There is lots of info in this article.

she's either hiding that child from someone or she has done something to the child because she seems unbalanced to me, threatening someone with a box cutter and detaining them. you think she would buckle from the pressure. It's all very odd..I hope
this girl is alive. mOO

I’ll give you that, what you and I would do in that situation is probably different.

But we don’t have all the historical details, nor enough information to say what all occurred with the paternal family. I don’t know why I feel defensive in regards to them, but I do. That might change, if I had more knowledge on their actions or lack thereof, but for now. Thanks for chiming in with your opinion.

Not to stereotype, but if one were looking for the kind of anti-government folks who would (probably) not physically harm one's child, wouldn't reveal her location to LE or any mandated reporter, and lived somewhere isolated enough to pull that off successfully, my impression is that rural Utah would probably not be a bad place to find them. Maybe I'm reaching here, but based on the details we have, such as they are, I haven't completely lost hope that Melodee could possibly be found alive

I almost hope so, because in an off grid cult Melodee would at least still be alive. MOO

When this started to get high profile it made me wonder what sort of person might be motivated to keep Ashlee’s daughter hidden and not come forward to LE (assuming M is alive - she’s clearly getting support of some sort) and this religious/political angle was the most logical explanation I could find. Add in the complex routes, the disguises, changing plates, the lack of social media or digital presence, the disordered but also very cynically ordered actions, the fact she even returned to the home (still don’t really understand why she did that), Utah, Arizona, the strange procession of people at her door, the completely bizarre and cold dismissiveness of everything from LE to child protection and courts. Even the failure to service debt kind of fits with organised support. She is not doing this alone.

Beyond that, I don’t really know what I think. Could be religious, could be political, could be anything really. If reports of psych issues and bipolar etc are correct, she’s extra vulnerable to any of these types. Some of them are particularly interested in vulnerable women, even more so if there’s children and custody battles to be had. And googling the culty history of that region of California certainly didn’t move me away from this theory.

Might be a massive stretch but honestly this case is so complex and confusing that if it isn’t something along these lines, I’m still fairly confident the explanation will be something unusual. There’s a great big chunk missing from this story but whatever it is, I get the feeling that LE and the FBI know exactly what it is. And maybe some of the other prominent voices speaking to the media know more than they’re letting on too.
