Don't think it was the son of Ismael Abdul-Hameen....look up his name in family search dot org (free subscription unlike ancestry) and you'll see what appears to be his former name, SS data, and subsequent aliases with both names. The child birth surname was Burton and the mothers name was Clark per California Birth Index. Wow! Never saw a formal name change on FS b4. Cool! I see the same person with different names, alot but this is cool!

ETA: Maybe info is there because he was incarcerated. Wonder if he died in prison?

He was serving only 3 years for stealing his ex-wife's son? If the kid was nowhere to be found, I believe the father should not have been able to live his life as a free man afterwards.

Glad to see some additional info coming out on this case - hopeful more to come soon! Unbelievable to me - he was reported as missing, article carried in paper - have you ever heard of this young child's case before? Not me - don't recall ever seeing it on NCMEC or Interpol - anyone else?

I'm also of the belief that Ismael isn't Derrick's father. Derrick is never once referred to as Ismael's son in the articles- Instead they call him his ex-wife's son, which is very telling IMO. So only 3 years in prison for kidnapping a little boy who isn't even his own son... SMH

In December of 1994, the mother, Patricia, and him, had a child (female) together. This happened three years after the mother reported Baby Derrick missing.

As of today, the mother goes by the last name of her late ex-husband.
