CA - Murder victims Identified as Rob Reiner and wife Michele - LA Dec 14 2025

Not necessarily. Per that article, he wasn't observed to have any blood on him when he checked in at 4am. So maybe he checked in, then left, went to the Reiner home and committed the murders (ie 5 or 6am) and then returned to the hotel to clean up. Then obviously left again (unless that's where he was arrested)
That is my thinking as well. Got his room, perhaps did some more drugs, then went and committed the crimes, before returning to the hotel, perhaps through a back entrance. I wonder whether he murdered them while they slept, early Sunday morning.

DA to give update on the case @4:00 pm

Per CoutTV, they will cover it

My thoughts too. Snuck in while they were fast asleep, slit their throats quickly then maybe stabbed them some more. Then took off.
Ambush killings.
Premeditated and carefully carried out. JMO

Where is he going to get the money to pay for this "great" attorney? Certainly not his own money. Perhaps money given to him by the wonderful parents he brutally murdered? Or is the attorney doing it pro-bono for the publicity?

What's his defense going to be? Go with the Mendendez BS that he was sexually abused? Unlike with Menendez, that clearly did not happen here. Say that his dad was hard on him because he was a degenerate addict? That he yelled at him in public because he was an embarrassment?

Or maybe the insanity defense. That he was not in the right frame of mind. CA doesn't have the death penalty, and I'm guessing his siblings will be fine if he's locked up the rest of his life, so despite the brutality of the murder of a by all appearances lovely couple, the DA doesn't bother making it a death penalty case.

The guy is scum. He took from the world some generous and lovely people, who cared for him more than anybody probably ever has or ever will. Sounds like he never respected his dad and was jealous and full of resentment. The fact he's even going to mount a strong defense shows what a narcissist he must be. I somehow doubt he feels remorse or shame for what he did, and the anguish he caused for millions upon millions of people who loved his parents.
I'm hoping he pleads guilty, but hiring a well-known attorney makes that less likely. A high-profile trial in Hollywood would turn into a media spectacle. The family will get dragged through the mud for every perceived slight or 'mistreatment' the defendant dreams up.

Per CourtTV Jackson said his client will not be in court today because of medical reasons
of course, his diminished capacity is at work.

LA investigators expected to lay out case against Rob Reiner’s son Nick

District attorney’s office has until Wednesday to file charges against Nick Reiner following deaths of his parents

Scott Reisch told me that the jail's medical staff are the ones who determine whether a defendant is "medically cleared" to appear in court. I guess NR is still being held on a suicide watch.

I will say, I did not see Alan Jackson representing him. I guess quite possibly NR's family hired him?

agreed, the defense will likely put the victims on trial and paint their client as the true victim :(

Rob Reiner’s troubled son Nick reportedly stormed off in a huff after a tiff with comedy heavyweight Bill Hader at Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party — which left other guests concerned....

When the SNL alum told Nick that he was in the middle of a private conversation, the source said Nick just stood there and stared, before
“storming off.”

I'm sure there was more to it than that interaction with Hader. imo
Bbm.
Agreed.
Any other conversations with people that evening that were making the others uncomfortable ?

Nick could have walked up to BH and friends, whilst visibly impaired.
Possibly NR wanted to start something then and there and BH tried to politely steer him away ?

Bill is a gifted comedian; imo, and has been in the business for many years and has seen a lot.
NR's behavior might have been glaringly obvious at other events and people tried to be civil but careful in what they said around NR ?
What if -- at previous functions -- NR heard something and took it the wrong way and started a rant ?

BH is talented and funny as heck.
Sorry that he was mentioned by the NYP at all and hope there's no blowback for him.
My take on it.
Imo.

Agreed and makes me angry when a perp claims this or that, and the victims are deceased and unable to defend themselves.
So unfair.
Ugh.
Omo.

I’m thinking impulsive and maniacal. But it would be far kinder if they never woke up to the sight of their son hovering over them with a knife. ):

‘One source with knowledge of the situation describes the site of the murders as a “Hollywood horror-scene nightmare.”

Agree. However, in America, the decision to seek therapy is personal, and you can not force a competent adult into treatment against their will. Defining competence for this purpose is a challenge! It's not even possible to force treatment on an inmate with a history of mental illness while incarcerated. Here, I'm specifically referring to the process necessary for involuntarily medicating a defendant pursuant to the Sell factors. See Sell v. United States, 539 U.S. 166 (2003). I'm following a case where the decision to force psychotropic meds has been going on for 28 months! JMO

Our laws are screwy compared to the rest of the reasonable world

I really hate that Bill H. has been mentioned like this, too. I’m a big fan of his and I’ve watched a lot of interviews and podcasts with him. He talks about having anxiety which makes my heart go out to him even more.
Also feel very sad for Conan.

I felt the same way when I heard of Rob's passing as I did when I heard of Robin's. The loss of a soul who brought joy and warmth to so many, taken away too soon. Leaving an irreplaceable void. The world is a far lesser place without both of them.
Yes, I thought of Robin Williams when I heard about Rob Reiner. Their personalities seem very different, but they both had the mix of sharp humor, tenderness, and intelligent thought.

Nick Reiner is calling in the heavies after being arrested for allegedly murdering his famous parents ... because Alan Jackson tells us Nick hired him as his defense attorney.

Alan is one of the best criminal defense attorneys out there, and he's no stranger to high-profile cases like this one ... he recently got Karen Read acquitted of murder in Massachusetts.

I had so much respect for Alan Jackson, the prosecutor. Now, not so much.

I do too. But I also hope they know that none of this is their fault and nothing they did contributed to it. This is all on the perp.

Walking on eggshells around a volitile person is impossible to do without an eventual blow up. It's not anyone's fault but the person who blew up.

Altho, isn't that lawyer more likely to claim LAPD have framed him for a murder he didn't commit, in order to cover up their own responsibility?

Like that other famous LA guy who got off from the charge of stabbing two people, what's his name...orange juice...
