Has it been confirmed if cameras/tv coverage will be allowed in court tomorrow?
Hadn’t heard anything, maybe someone else has.
First time he was in court video was released very shortly after.

yes, but that means it is dependent upon the person who needs hospitalization being honest and stating they want to self harm or harm others and IME that doesn't happen. People in active psychosis often lack the requisite insight and the capacity to accurately describe their symptoms to LE or medical professionals.

Can't kill people while your at least being evaluated - it could take all night - but it is just a moot point now. No one took him in for an evaluation and in light of what he did I wish someone had but Rob and Michele seem to have felt safe enough to take him to their house/guest house and go to their bedroom that night. Unfortunately, heated arguments were common and this one just happened to have happened in front of party guests.

2 Cents

The judge is the one who makes the decision, correct? Can the family, both attorneys make a request to allow them or not?

I have a heck of a lot of experience dealing with this situation with a loved one. I live right next to Chicago, so an area with lots of big hospital and mental health inpatient floors, etc.

There are SO few inpatient beds available and so many people who need them.

With my son, the ONLY time he got a bed directly was when he started with a new psychiatrist and that psych worked and taught at a major hospital (in addition to his private practice), so he had direct admit privileges and had all the connections/right people to call to make it happen. And we were lucky that the nurses there knew they had a patient discharging that day and were ordered by this doctor to hold the bed for our son (and that they actually did).

Every other time, it was sitting in the ER for days, once or twice getting admitted somewhere else, and several times just being let go.

If at any point while you are sitting in a hospital ER waiting for a bed you change your mind and are able to act normal enough to convince them that you are no longer in immediate danger, you will often be discharged with strong referrals to their outpatient psych PHP programs/clinics (but which you are NOT required to follow through on and it's rare that you get a follow up call). And when you've been sitting there for 12+ hours, and the hospital is busy and full, there's no available bed in 30 mile radius, and you have been given something to help you calm down in the meantime, that's not hard to achieve.

I wish it was "all you have to do." But the reality is, that it is not in most places/many circumstances because of the huge strain on mental health care services and the amount of ppl who need them. Factor in insurance companies and their restrictions, and you have a whole other tangle of limitations.

There aren't enough beds for the people who want/and or need them.

And that's just the situation for adults....don't even get me started on services for teenagers.
Thank you for sharing. Very interesting.
I’m so glad your son got the help he needed. I hope he is on the road to recovery.

A druggy spoiled brat still has positive life experiences and can function within their spoiled realm.
People that are sane yet so nasty nobody likes them do exist too. And unfortunately are not so rare.

I can easily imagine a kid, who learned early that it is enough to throw violent tantrum to get others do what he wants, and loves aggravating others for fun, not making any friends.

I do not think Nick had no normal life because of some overwhelming mental illness. I think it's because his early behavioural issues were not properly addressed, boundaries were not put in place and so he grew into a man with personality disorder. Drugs, obviously, did not help.

If he suffers from any psychosis I am ready to bet it is acquired by vigorous abuse of multiple drugs. But I am also ready to bet he will be deemed legally sane.

Will Nick Reiner's arraignment be televised?

It's up to the judge to decide whether Reiner's arraignment will be televised, according to the communications office for the Superior Court of Los Angeles County, where Reiner's case was filed. The court told USA TODAY the judge may make a ruling on that at the arraignment itself.

At Reiner's first court appearance Dec. 17, Judge Theresa McGonigle allowed cameras to stream the proceedings, but prohibited media from taking photos or videos of Reiner himself.

Law & Crime and STS does have a YouTube link up to go live at 11:00 EST

Respectfully NR has more than an unlikable personality.

Do you have a link to back up the accusation that the Reiner's were not good, decent, present parents, had no boundaries, didn't properly address his issues and brought this extreme act on themselves?

The Reiner's second guessing themselves is typical of caregivers with a difficult increasingly declining situation.

I'm curious because it seems there is a gotcha for perceived liberal, Hollywood elite when there are many parricide by all incomes in the pages of WS.

For example the Porco's. No one is presumptive enough there to blame the parents:

NY - Christopher Porco - Another Menandez situation? - sentenced

A debilitating personality disorder such as Schizotypal I'm guessing from reports that NR did not seem to be suffering from psychosis at the party nor did he display that at the motel and store, imo.

With no psychoses I believe that would be sane too but we don't know his diagnoses.

For the Reiner's, seemingly extremely empathic, writing their child off or skimping on self pay services would be out of the question morally, imo.

all imo

That's not what I wrote.
Let me state it loud and clear: whatever parental mistakes Reiners might have done, they are not to blame for their demise. Nick is.

TMZ had a Breaking Update video saying that Alan Jackson was resigning from the case and Nick Reiner would have a public defender appointed, so he wouldn’t enter a plea today and the family would speak later. After I poster the video link, it now says video is private.

I don't know what "parental mistakes" the Reiners may have made, other than some here who say they would have done things differently than the Reiners and think that NR would have turned out differently. All that is just a matter of opinion.

I hadn't anticipated a public defender.

THANK YOU, Buff. This explains why the hearing is late getting started. It shows it was supposed to start at 10 am Central on my YouTube.
