I don't know about the pen being marked as Parker being of any great significance. I've owned two or three in my time. I bought one first when I worked in retail because people kept walking away with my basic plastic ballpoints, so investing ten or fifteen bucks in a Parker meant I made sure to get it back. Never lost one, after that.

Basic Parker pens are nice but not expensive. The ballpoint ones I have take refills that are also not very expensive, in a basic range of ink colours - black, blue, maybe red, etc. The pen barrel itself can also be in a range of colours - silver, gold, and black are common. Mine are lilac and navy blue. So yellow for the barrel seems like it would be common enough, especially if it's actually a yellow metal/gold colour. Without photos, it's impossible to tell. It also could be the base metal colour. My navy pen is damaged and the colour is peeling off, and underneath, the barrel looks like brass, which is quite yellow.

Or perhaps he was just a sharp dresser. I think my Grandpa dressed in a three piece suit most days of my life. And he didn't have anywhere fancy to go, that was just to sit in his armchair at home.
