This bears repeating to those it applies to provide some feeling of hope of moving forward, rebuilding, and being able to pick up the pieces.

California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara has issued a moratorium that bars insurers from canceling or non-renewing home policies in the Pacific Palisades and the San Gabriel Valley's Eaton fire zones.

The moratorium, issued Thursday, protects homeowners living within the perimeter of the fire and in adjoining ZIP codes from losing their policies for one year,
starting from when Gov. Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency on Wednesday.

I hope this isn’t old news. I watched the interview. According to LA4, the chief has been called to meet with the mayor.

According to the San Diego Tourism Authority, more than two dozen hotels across San Diego came together on Thursday to offer assistance to Los Angeles evacuees, and both the Tourism Authority and San Diego Lodging Association put the list of hotels together and published it online.

[...]

"There are discounts in terms of no parking fees, resort fees for pets, and other things like that," Kasich said. "At the end of the day, we're here to help. LA is our neighbor. They're our friends, our family. We just want to do everything that we can during this heartbreaking time."

Maybe a stupid question bit I am not really familiar with fires. Why the new fires pop up? Are they arson? I can’t grasp why so many fires just pop up.
The fires create huge updrafts and then wind carries embers miles away.
A chunk of burning two by four can drop a mile away or more.

‘LA Strong’ logo and custom shirts unveiled to aid Los Angeles wildfire recovery efforts

Los Angeles sports organizations are uniting to launch an “LA Strong” custom logo and apparel line that will raise money for organizations assisting those impacted by this week’s devastating wildfires.

The Pro Teams and Leagues are listed in the article.

“We are proud to have teamed up with the LA sports community to launch a new ‘LA Strong’ merchandise collection,” he said.

And if you ARE in the L.A. area, it's best to donate money and not your stuff, because the money can be used to buy things people need now. They definitely don't want your used underwear or stained stuffed animals.

Aid workers can literally go a mile or two away in many cases and get what's needed.
The donation sites I have seen included boxes of diapers, formula, new boxed shoes, unopened snacks, personal items, etc. Plus lots of water. I would rather grab those than wait for money to be dispersed. I’m sure many have no cars to go shop.

I mentioned Critical Role when I was talking about people 'not famous enough' for the Daily Mail to report on.

Here's a link about the show's filming being paused, but also about them donating and fundraising for fire relief.

According to Marisha's social media (which I can't link, because it was on IG stories and it's since expired) as far as they know, her and Matt's home is still standing.

However, the show's producer and his partner have lost their home.

I'll link, just purely for the source of the following quote, but it's going to be borked because it's a certain fundraising website.

I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to share that my dear friend and coworker, Kyle Shire, producer for Critical Role, and his partner, filmmaker Jon Sims, recently lost their home in the wildfires that ravaged all of Los Angeles. Their house was completely incinerated, along with nearly all of their belongings, but thankfully, they were able to get their 4 beloved cats out in time.

I think at this point, we really have just no idea of what a major impact this is going to have on the film and television industry. It's not just about that handful in front of the cameras, it's people on the crew, hair and makeup, drivers, craft services, special effects, set builders, costume, post production. Most of those people are not going to be living in mansions, they're going to be living in working or middle class neighbourhoods like those that have been decimated. They're not going to be able to pack up and just go to their other home, because that one that was burnt was their one and only. And while filming isn't happening, a lot of people aren't getting paid.

In addition to the Pasadena Temple and multiple Christian churches, Masjid-Al-Taqwa Mosque has been confirmed as having been among the places of worship destroyed.

And leaves. Leaves are the worst.

LA Mayor Bass rejects FDNY’s offer to help — despite not having enough firefighters to battle blazes still raging: sources

I disagree with the mayor. Every offer should be accepted. Firefighters must be exhausted.

Mayor Bass and LAFD chief were absent from a recent press conference. According the a reporter at the building, LAFD’s chief Crowley’s job may be in jeopardy. I’m still watching.

I'll disagree, maybe people who think they are above used items don't want anything but money, but in my area, if we are in need we gladly accept anything that is given. Used underwear or stained stuffed animals can be washed. As we saw in other catastrophic events, people took the money and bought designer handbags and TV/s instead of necessary items. I'm not above used items. JMO

That's the most ridiculous thing I've heard all day!
