I hope it’s not a big ordeal for her. I was basing my thoughts on a friend here in Oregon who was out of her house for a month because of the smoke. Some of that time may have been insurance issues. So here’s hoping.
I used to have a cute little car ...MR2 it caught on fire and the only thing left was my cheap purse filled with the last line of MAXX Factor, I could not stand the stank omitting from the bag.The way the Oder moves in -an lives , forever
It's A hard smell to work though. ,I hope your friend didnt lose important things.
SERIOUSLY ,THIS IS DEPRESSING.

The flames you are seeing-to the right of that is Christmas Tree Lane.https://www.goodmorningamerica.com/news/video/historic-andrew-mcnally-house-destroyed-wildfires-117522109?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email
We are across the lane and remain unscathed.

A 32 year old Australian, Rory Sykes, has been confirmed as a victim of the fires. (I presume Palisades, as his location was Malibu.) His death was announced by his mother. Rory is another young, disabled victim of these fires. He was blind/low vision from birth and lived with cerebral palsy.

Rory's mum couldn't lift him out of their cottage as she has a broken arm. His mum says Rory is not one of the 11 deaths that have been confirmed - so that is now 12 deaths (at least).

The Palisades fire is forming 'fire whirls'.

Helicopters are dumping water.

The flames can now be seen across the San Fernando Valley.

The Getty Villa, Eames House, Hollywood Sign, and More: Which Buildings Have Been Impacted by Palisades Fires, and Which Are Safe?

Haven't seen this posted, but it has some good info on the status of some iconic landmark structures known to be in fire danger zones. Some (not all) of the ones they listed w/brief quote from the article on their status so far:

The Getty Villa

"fire reached the museum’s grounds but staff and collections remain safe"

Villa de Leon

"engulfed in flames" "extent of damage not immediately clear"

Eames House

"unharmed as of 2 p.m. PST on January 9"

Will Rogers’s Historic Estate

"all of the structures were destroyed"

Thomas Mann House

"undamaged as of Thursday morning"

The Hollywood Sign

"undamaged" so far!

-- much more in article linked

Anybody heard from @LaborDayRN ?
She hasn't posted in a couple of days.

She's somewhere in that area, although at the time she said she wasn't in the fire zone -- but of course it has spread since then.

Hope all is well, and is just busy with everything....

Her profile says 'last seen today', so she's active on here, if not posting.
