Bumping for Pearl. Just saw on the news they had a vigil yesterday. This case really upsets me and it breaks my heart to see how devastated her family is. Where is she?????

I know just a routine day...going to school.

...because a complete sentence takes time from reading.

I don't understand anything about what exactly even happened... It's been months now, with no info released, summers came and gone and still no pearl.. There silence makes it appear like there won't be a positive outcome, but I think it's more likely there trying to cover their butts because they didn't respond correctly. I understand how amber alerts work, that they had no car, but she was a kid screaming for help, bloody, and being pulled by an adult male and no one even knew about it til the day AFTER!!! He had a whole entire day to do whatever he wanted and no chance of anyone recognizing him or on the lookout for someone with his description.. They should've known right away it was her, they found her phone at the spot it happened! No one I mean NO ONE would take it to that extent if it was one of those relationships that wasn't allowed and they wanted to run away together.. I wonder how many friends he hit up or randomly saw him that day that are scared to come forward because of fear of getting in trouble that maybe could've reported to police if they would've known what he did!! I feel for her family.. She was a normal teenager, just on her way to school, doing what she's supposed to. She wasn't out putting herself in danger.. She should've been safe.. Idk how the school isn't somehow in trouble cause I know here in California your the schools responsibility from when you leave your house to go to school, til you get home after and touch your doorknob.. But we've heard nothing from them either.. Sigh where are you Pearl?!

Getting into any auto mobile is dangerous. I just hope she is still alive and someone good finds her soon.

I'm in CA- Northern CA here, so help me out- why would she be the school's responsibility when she never reached the campus??? :waitasec:Noone held Sierra LaMar's school responsible. It's the parent/student's responsibility to get them there safely. If a student misses school and doesn't have an excused absence (parent called them in sick, or took them out for a doctor's appointment/homeschooled), they are truant and can be picked up by the police.

Idk I live in the Stanislaus county and when I was in school they always told us that we were the schools responsibility from when we walk from our home to our bus stop and til we got home after school... I've ridden the bus every year except 1st grade and they've always told us that... They'd tell us your our responsibility from when you step out your door to go to school til you touch your door knob when you get home.. I remember kids would literally stop at their houses before fighting just so they couldn't get suspended from school for it.. I would think it'd be the same if someone got kidnapped or anything of that sort happened on their way to school.. I only graduated from HS in 2011 so I don't think I'm not that far out the loop of school rules, lol.. Well, I hope not.. [emoji50]

But she didn't get into it willingly the person who reported she was being dragged away and was bleeding by a Mexican male who had a gun, the person ran to call 911 cause they didn't have a phone and heard a shot and then cops found pearls phone on the ground and blood on the ground.. they never specified how much, a little drop? A pool? I feel like that detail matters...

idk about before school but I know students are in the school's care up to an hour after school. I don't think you can sue the school, but things can happen like policy change. in the Sierra Lamar case, the mom didn't get the automated school call about her absence until late in in the day. now, call out much earlier.

That seems so crazy to me!

I understand holding the school responsible for incidents that occur on school property, or on the bus, or at a school sponsored event (like a field trip, athletic event, or club related activity, etc.), but I can't understand how the school should be responsible for anything and everything that occurs while a student is traveling to/from a bus stop.

How could that even be possible? I mean... how could any school, legitimately, do everything that would be required to control the thousands upon thousands of hypothetical variables that could potentially occur on a daily basis? The school would have to hire a personal bodyguard to escort each and every individual student to their home to insure that level of liability, in my opinion.

I understand and I agree. It may vary from state to state, but in my area I believe the school's responsibility begins at the bus stop in the morning and ends at the bus stop in the afternoon. I include the bus stop because a couple of years ago two kids got into a fight at my son's bus stop in the morning and were subject to school discipline. I know of another case where a student damaged a car while walking to the bus stop, but I doubt that the school could be held liable for the damage. Parents were, for sure. That may not be the case everywhere, though.

I hate that there's no new information about Pearl.

In Pearl's case, she was neither at the bus stop, nor on school property, correct?

I don't think we know for sure. She could have actually made it to the bus stop before she was assaulted, and ultimately, abducted. I think all we know for certain is that she was seen bleeding, screaming for help, and attempting to get away from the suspect somewhere close by her bus stop.

I just noticed this tonight, although I'm not sure when it happened. Pearl is still missing, and I don't think that this really changes anything, but the AMBER Alert for Pearl is no longer active. :(

Thinking about & praying for Pearl and her family.

What exactly does that mean?? How can they just take an amber alert down when she's still missing!?

Something similar happened with the Mabel Lopez case (http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...abel-Juaraz-Lopez-8-El-Reno-17-Feb-2016/page3), although it's believed Mabel has been taken to Mexico, unlike Pearl who is more likely deceased.

I believe that the alert has been cancelled because law enforcement feels that public dissemination of information about Pearl is no longer likely to produce any (positive) results in this case. I'm sure LE is still working Pearl's case and following up on any and all leads despite the change in case status.

KayElJay, Thanks for your explanation. This makes entirely too much sense.
