Thanks KayElJay. What an interesting case...well both are. I hope their families both get closure soon.

Oh :greetings:I've been a lurker on Pearl's thread for a while...thought it's about time I showed myself :)

Hi! Sorry been zipping in and out of all different cases today...(while I am at work might I add! :D:behindbar )

I just cannot imagine being the family with no answers. What a tragic event on a normal day doing a normal thing. :(

Heading back up a few pages to catch up!

also maybe the amber alert was removed because they have the suspect vehicle and no leads on another vehicle?

I just noticed this tonight, although I'm not sure when it happened. Pearl is still missing, and I don't think that this really changes anything, but the AMBER Alert for Pearl is no longer active. :(

Thinking about & praying for Pearl and her family.

I think its so sad when the Amber Alert gets cancelled. People not reading too much into it will just think oh its cancelled, shes found or its over.

As awful as it sounds - how long does it take for a body to be just 'remains' and not a body?
I am taking a guess but I believe within a couple of months in the heat of summer.

There is another female that has been missing near the area since May.

Sadly it is someone's loved one and most likely foul play is involved.

ETA...My info above comes from following a missing case from the time missing to found and what is reported by msm when found.

Also, The weather channel has an article on this subject that I didn't feel comfortable reading so I didn't post the link but it is easily found.

I edited my op.

Yes, sad but at least someone who is searching will soon know. The not knowing seems the hardest. imho

Do we have a thread here for another missing from the area where the body was found?

Sadly there are at least 4 and possibly more that have been missing long enough and close enough to the found area.
I know Gardener1850 updated the posts of several with this info.

I don't think this body would be Pearl. He was meandering around Sonoma and Solano counties until the following day and that is far from LA county. He then headed south and was killed in Solvanf which is still a ways north of LA. I hope they can ID this body quickly for closure.

When exposed to the elements, decomposition can occur in as little as a month or two in warmer temperatures. It takes a bit longer in colder temperatures or if the body is covered well. Generally speaking, large portions of the skeleton aren't visible for at least 4 to 6 months. However, in a month or two, the body is more decay than human. (I cringe just thinking it, so I apologize if I was too graphic. There just isn't a pleasant or better way to say it, unfortunately.)

When the body is embalmed and buried in a metal casket six feet under ground, 14 years or more might pass before the body is fully decomposed and only skeletal bones remain.

After that morbid post, I want to put some positivity out into the ether by saying that I hope and pray to every higher power in the universe that Pearl is still surviving out there somewhere. You just never know. Stranger things have happened. I like to think he might have left her stranded somewhere remote (assuming she was dead) and she's using her God given survival instincts (and maybe the help of a few forest creatures--Cinderella style) to find her way back home.

We already know Pearl is smart, and brave, and strong... just based on the fact that she wasn't afraid to scream for help, despite being face-to-face with a scary man with a gun. She made a scene and brought attention to him. If she hadn't been brave enough to do that, he could be God only knows where harming more young women. As much as I hate he was killed before being apprehended, I still find the smallest comfort in knowing that he's no longer alive to harm anyone else.

Stay strong and keep fighting, Pearl. [emoji171]

Yes, what a strong character Pearl is to show that true strength in such an awful situation.

They found a body at Sonoma State late last night and aren't releasing any details about the gender, only that it was buried in a shallow grave and is only somewhat decomposed. My daughter attends this university so I was a little freaked out this morning, but all is well with her and we continue to await an identification. My first thought was Pearl but obviously there are a lot of possibilities at this early point.
