Most recent immigrants from Mexico dress similar to Cowboys.

yes. They call them Matehuala. I think it the town where they originated. Someone told me long ago but don't quote me on that. What I do k ow is that they were, and still are popular with the car tell crowd. Kinda like a status symbol or a tribute.... that being said, on most occasions here when we see some e with them, we know that either they are just visiting, or recently arrived to stay. In the mexican community it's a running joke that if you see so e one wearing pointy boots, pointy hat, and chewing g on a toothpick, that someone better hide, because it a hitman.

Got it, thank you both, I figured it had something to do with being a recent immigrant and not yet assimilating to US culture. I had no idea it was tied to a cartel lifestyle!

I actually agree w you and think you are correct, but I don't think it's just as many. It is many, yes, but not just as many.

I grew up in central ca (farmland) I worked at a county jail there. I am also married to an American born Mexican man, his parents were from michoacan. Unfortuantely some of His family have had their hands in that as well.

Ha, my BF too!!! What part of Michoacan? My bfs parents/family come from changuitiro! And I am from central ca too lol (Turlock)

It isn't always. I guess it depends on the price of the boots and hat lol

Lol I grew up on Madera and my husband's family is from Samora. His oldest sister moved back. Lol. He is one of 7 and the oldest 3 were born there. His parents came here and his dad became an engineer for Union Pacific. He grew up here in San Jose

Thanks carbuff, good to know it's not Pearl!

That brings me to a different line of thinking though...if he was taking her to the coast, could she have ended up being put on a boat? She just seems to have vanished without a trace with Jenner being one of their only clues. It does make me wonder.

Hm. Interesting thought. Yeah, it does make a person wonder.

Kidnapping is a standard tool for Mexican drug cartels. I live in houston and we have had neumerous drug related kidnappings in the last few years. Most of the kidnappings or murders related to drug trafficking are easy to spot. A few months back a breaking news story about a body of a teenage girl found in a vacant lot that had been dead for several days. Within days, she had been identified and by then it came to light that he dad was missing. The news reporter was standing in front of their house doing the report. they showed a picture of the dad. I told my wife they will find him dead and I guarantee, it over drugs. They lived in a 400 thounsand dollar house witch there is like a 2million dollar house. I dont care where you come from, if your still wearing pointy boots and a straw stetson, you dont live in a house like that unless you are tied up with the drug trade. 2 days later they found him burnt inside his truck. They found his wife in mexico. She was probably there transporting money, or picking up drugs. A week later, they arrested his killer. A Mexican hitman for a cartel. Im not sure how they know, but probably because he was already part of another investigation, but they say he had been transporting money for a cartel between south texas and noth of houston. He must have come up short.

The truth is, you dont even have to be that deep in it, to have them kidnapp as a means of extorsion, or leverage, one of your family members. You could be way down the food chain even as small is an actual small scale dealer. Its their way of sending a message. If you debt or mishap what ever it may be, they are probably going to kill you anyways. As for the girl and her dad, the PD said she had been brutally raped(very likley in front of her dad) then her throat was slashed. He was tied up in the truck and burned alive.

From the initial reports of this story, I have leaned towards her being kidnapped because of drugs. Most likley someone close to her, and not her directly.

Thanks for sharing your insight. Most of us just hear things in the news and hear stories and sometimes it is hard for us to realize that there is a lot of truth to how horrible it can get for people that get mixed up with the wrong people.

The cartels do not have a lot of patience or understanding when a deal is supposed to happen. Any sort of mixup can get a person or their relative killed or worse. I really think that is why there are so many killings and kidnappings related to the cartels. There is always the next person willing to take someones place to get some money for themselves and the cartels know this. So they have very little patience or understanding when it comes to their deals and if anything goes wrong then elimination of the person that failed their mission is their easiest way to handle it. And if any relatives happen to be home or nearby then it helps the cartels put the fear in people as a form of control.
Keeping people afraid of them is a major tool the cartels use as it serves many purposes for them.

This is why getting mixed up with any sort of drug dealing is a huge risk. Anything can go wrong from simple miscommunication to thefts of the substances by middle men. Think about how easy it is for things to go wrong. A person tells another person to pickup box A at place A and to deliver to Place B and they will get X dollars. That middle man person could take a portion of the product for themselves and all of a sudden its the delivery person that gets blamed. Especially if the middle man has been working for some time and has developed trust from his cartel. He may only steal once a year and it would be easy for him to blame the occasional delivery person especially if it is the delivery persons first time or something like that.

That is just one example how things can go horribly wrong. Simple miscommunication mistakes can easily get people killed. Think about it. Its a crime where nobody wants to ever talk nearby to others about the deal so they whisper or use codes in text messages or things. Think how simple it is to have someone think he agreed to pay 1000 dollars and the other person thought he agreed to 10000 dollars.

JMO
In this case and the way she was grabbed I suspect she or her relatives somehow knew some other people who were involved in the trade OR it could have been over a mutual boyfriend that other girls liked and the girls she was afraid of decided to get someone to punish her over it.

Unfortunately I dont think we are going to find a happy ending in this case. The best thing that could happen at this point is if someone is holding her until someone else makes good on something. But as mentioned earlier the criminals and murderers dont have a lot of patience or understanding so I am afraid this will not end well.

LE needs to solve this case no matter. I do hope LE can get to the bottom of it and get some answers. Maybe we will get lucky with this case and maybe she is being held somewhere. We can only hope.

I really think they're a drug traffiking problem here. http://www.eastbaytimes.com/california/ci_30233474/recent-kidnappings-leave-vallejo-uneasy-feelings Nine attempted kidnapping since Pearl went missing? Hmmm

That is real scary. It does make you wonder about all kinds of things.

One thing I am considering for the recent random kidnapping attempts is something that may seem far fetched but you have to wonder because of the location which is right near the ocean.

Wondering if some shipping boats are wanting women on the ships to use as sex slaves and are paying people to kidnap them for them. Almost like what use to happen many years ago to get laborers on boats that will be out to sea. Shanghai kidnappings were done for laborers. Wondering if something similar to that is attempted to get woman on the boats for the crew to use as sex slaves.

The random nature of the recent attacks in the article is alarming. A lot of those women had no tie whatsoever to the alleged kidnappers. And with the open body of water right there it does seem like large ships or boats may be somehow involved. Very scary. LE needs to arrest the people like the drivers of the green van and get the motive out of them. That will help them stop this once they know the motive.

I'm not sure where one would easily get onto a boat in Jenner. It's a rocky, rocky coast there. Beautiful, but very remote... much easier to hide a body/dump a body off of a cliff than to put someone on a boat. And I hate saying that because I want Pearl to be okay, but Jenner is just so small and so remote.

It's rugged too--perched up on a bluff. Though I seem to recall a beach area there too, and some small personal watercraft. Nothing big or commercial though. Did they ever say which camping area they searched? I thought it was Austin Creek, which is inland, but I can't find the reference.

ok...thanks. I checked a map for vallejo california and saw San Pablo Bay and was thinking along the lines of the alleged abductors getting the girls to the Bay and then out to sea. Its kind of a far fetched idea so its probably not what they were targeting them for. Was just tossing out some ideas for a motive. Lets hope LE already has more information by now.

This evening I happened to drive by the overpass from where Pearl was abducted. There is a huge banner hanging over the 780 freeway overpass in Vallejo advertising Pearl's disappearance.

Just checking in wishing Pearl had been found by now. Sucks.

As I've said many times now, Pearl where are you??
